@Hellyer23 Jack Turple wrote several songs but not this one. Wilf Carter was listening to the news reports by Frank Willis when they got the two survivers out shortly after midnight on April 23rd. He finished the song and recorded it later the same day.
I learned this song by heart over 50 years ago, still know most off it. We had the 78 on Bluebird Records and over the years lost the copy we had. I have tried for years to find a copy to no avail, until now... I was finaly to the site in 2007. Thanks

This is great.
I had never heard this before.
Stompin' Tom did a version of this song in the early 70's. It is extremely rare.
