I bought Opoona a few months ago and its pretty good. Yes it's quirkiness is like earthbound, I almost feel ashamed that I bought it for only 8 bucks, it's worth much more than that.

red steel is just a fps with the worst controls, auto aim and if you were hoping for a sword fight you will very disappointed. The sword is automatic, wouldn't be any different if it was set to a button.

Wow, the only one I have here is Baroque. o3o There are other fun RPGs though, like Phantom Brave: We Meet Again is a fun strategy RPG. Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World is very fun too, along with Arc Rise Fantasia.
Valhalla Knights: Eldar Saga is iffy. The characters are slow, no matter what weapon you use, but it's still fun.
Just started Chocobo's Dungeon last night. I thought my young son would like it but it's too advanced for him, "he's only five", but I liked it. The character designs are very well done, and surprised me. Cid's cool... lol

@vCompact Rankings aren't everything to go by, my favorite game of all time just got a 6 out of 10, Azure Dreams for the GB. Reviewers don't like roguelikes, but I think they're badass.
Hm... honestly, I wouldnt ever recommend Baroque, and here is why: As an RPG player, I am more interested in the role-play value of a game. The story, the background, and the interaction of the environment. Baroque is almost communist-linear, has no roleplay value, and is just disappointing all around. You basically spend the whole game doing nothing but fighting in the same rooms against the same enemies... seven times.... at least...

I actualy picked up Dragon Quests swords on a "cover based" opinion, and cheap supermarket price, somewhere I don't expect games to be sold.

i just wanted to say that i have never played a FF game ever and i loved FF fables Chocobos dungeon. Its really fun and not really that hard once you get the tactics and battle system down. But i am a big fan of RPGs so i would recomend this game to anyone who likes turn based combat RPGs.

Its very rare that ANY of the final fantasies follow the same storyline so your pretty much safe to start from whichever. the only ones that do have a continuing storyline are the ones that have the same number such as Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 and even then the storylines are very much tied in. they just give you more info on the first in the series of the number
Not gonna lie, I was kind of hoping to see No More Heroes, but I suppose that's more action than RPG. Well, it's really just an action game with RPG characteristics...but still, an amazing game 8)

FYI, I actually am getting more enjoyment per time out of the sequel, and I love the ability to switch into a free-running mode in battles (not always restricted to a plane of movement, but you can free run, then snap back into a movement plane). I really like the battle system.
Opoona has always looked enticing to me. Speaking of Earthbound i just recently aquired Earthbound Zero for NES off of ebay for $60. Awesome awesome game....of course its just a cartridge but it was professionally replicated with a sticker and everything, you should look for one and buy it.
Its strange going back to watch the older videos, Pete looks kinda nervous and the camera a bit blurry, great video all the same but it seems to have progressed alot in the few months its been going, kee it up pete

i just wanted to say that i have never played a FF game ever and i loved FF fables Chocobos dungeon. Its really fun and not really that hard once you get the tactics and battle system down. But i am a big fan of RPGs so i would recomend this game to anyone who likes turn based combat RPGs.

Its very rare that ANY of the final fantasies follow the same storyline so your pretty much safe to start from whichever. the only ones that do have a continuing storyline are the ones that have the same number such as Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 and even then the storylines are very much tied in. they just give you more info on the first in the series of the number

Not gonna lie, I was kind of hoping to see No More Heroes, but I suppose that's more action than RPG. Well, it's really just an action game with RPG characteristics...but still, an amazing game 8)

its just that all those titles you just said have details to them that ruin the gameplay for me, so i really wanted other titles there...would anyone recomend me any? (i have Tales of Symphonia 2 already)

It's an RPG, along with an intruiging storyline, you can upgrade weapons and level up!! =) It's a strategy RPG!!

FYI, I actually am getting more enjoyment per time out of the sequel, and I love the ability to switch into a free-running mode in battles (not always restricted to a plane of movement, but you can free run, then snap back into a movement plane). I really like the battle system.

Opoona has always looked enticing to me. Speaking of Earthbound i just recently aquired Earthbound Zero for NES off of ebay for $60. Awesome awesome game....of course its just a cartridge but it was professionally replicated with a sticker and everything, you should look for one and buy it.
