jack lines on the corners thats how you get a plum wall and what about some type of drainage system behind the wall, if thats in a northern climate then when the heat from the interior makes it way through the wall to the cold stone veneer there will be condensation which will need to drain otherwise it will freeze and thaw over the years cause efflorensce and the stonework will fall apart
Yea, i don't see wall ties. Then it's too much formal kind of stone-split and cut to honey comb forms, looses it's natural variations. I have 10 years laying masonry in Russia, then 10 years . I see lot's of a little bit crappy jobs there and here showing on U-tube. But i did see a really really awesome good looking masonry jobs in Russia. Unfortunatelly can't find those houses any where on internet. And i'm away from Russia already as 15 years. Then i've seen good jobs in US magazines.
this varies from traditional masonry. that is, you don't have to be a mason. dumb ass! thanks though. its because of guys like you, Real stone masons and bricklayers will always have work. fixing your cheap slops and errors, saving lives a hack endangers.
I don't like it. That stone is too one dimensional. If I want that, I'll get brick. Fuck Plumb (and the level) I like the stone to go in and out, and look like it's falling out of the wall and defying gravity. you have to be a real stone mason to create that effect.
@bonanzatime U OBVIOUSLY DONT HAVE CLUE WHAT UR TALKIN ABOUT, IM A STONEMASON & IF I LEFT A JOB WITH STONE LOOKING LIKE IT WAS FALLING OUT OF A WALL ID BE ASKED TO FIX IT UP
i hope there is more than tyvec behind that, but i doubt there is. there will be moisture issues on that home. rookies. first you tyvec, and dont forget to tape the joints with proper tape, then you tarpaper. and after that you use keene moisture barrier. dont forget wall ties, oops you already did. like i said, rookies.
Yea that is real masonry the wall is probably a 4-6 inch veneer the shapes are a bit to random to be cast crap, This guy is doing it right he just needs to leave an air space between the masonry and the tyvek with vent holes at the top and bottom course, This will allow the wall to breath and the exchange of moisture in rising damp. There is always condensation between different materials, its allowing that condensation to be evaporated off naturally. But a felt cloth wont do it alone.
