  • @jinnaraka

the remarkable thing about this knife is the blade is carbon steel not stainless steel making it easier to put a shaving sharp edge on it. Most of my knives are stainless, good steel but this k55 takes a wicked edge.

  • @maxcontax they also make stainless

  • @QUERCUSst Yes, they make stainless and carbon steel

  • A short historical Documentation : /watch?v=tfFZbXBhBf0

  • Amasing how you can make something so useful and practical with so little material. I carry a little Gerber LST now but this one could replace it. The nice thing about a 2" Gerber is it looks so inoffensive to security folks. Not sure if this one does! But with a blade under 4" it's going to be legal most places. My father brought one back from WW2, he liberated it from a captured German soldier, I remember the story--the German soldier was heartbroken

  • @maxcontax I would be heartbroken if someone took my favorite pocket knife too. K55K all the way.

  • 26,000 views is not enough justice for such a fine knife.

  • i feel like buying a new one, to see how it holds up campared to my grampas ww2 one

  • @aaaaagggghhhhhable They are a little tight when new. Leave it half open when your not keeping it with you. It with take a little of the spring tension down. I also use jewlers polish at the pivot to get the matting surfaces like a mirror. Less friction for opening and closing. But you need to watch a few movies while you can just sit and open and close the knife.

  • @aaaaagggghhhhhable Just as well if not better. But it will not hold the same value or story.

  • @aaaaagggghhhhhable Just the same or maybe better. It won't hold the same value or personal story though.

  • This looks like it could be a great bush folder.

  • @MisterMinnesota Its great all around utility.

  • @MisterMinnesota Its a good pocket knife. You are not going to slay draggons with it. But it will always be handy when you need a knife.

  • wow cool

  • Best locking blade pocket knife EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @DobermansRock Agreed...

  • @DobermansRock

NO you forgot the buck 110 and the opinel

  • @MrFlaujac The buck 110 is more of a sheeth carried knife. It is good and used to be my favorite as a kid. But its a cumbersome knife being heavy and wide.

The opinel just does not catch my eye. Its large and would feel bulky in my pocket. So I will stick to my guns with the k55k being the best. Mine is way over 20 years old and its all I will carry. Also I can open it one handed now that it is broken in.

  • @DobermansRock

    ah ah

i use a opinel since myy 9 years old

do you tjinnk i don't know the knife who are in my pocket sinnce 40 years ?

  • @MrFlaujac Not saying your choices are wrong. Just saying they are not what I would choose. There is a knife for everyone that is the best. For me its the K55K... Cheers

  • @MrFlaujac

Opinels take a very fine edge. the simple design and good handle make them very very practical. I have had several over the years, cheap and good.

  • Wow, very interesting. I need to pick pick of these up to add to my collection.

  • Wow ten coments for one of the best pocket knives ever. I find this sad.

  • i count myself lucky i got one from back in WWII, last a lifetime.

  • Yeah agreed, just got one now, great knife that'kk hopefully last me years ^^

  • I've had my Mercator pocket knife for 30 years! The blade is half as wide as it was when it was new from many sharpens, but it's still going strong. Just goes to show that sometimes the most simple design is the best, with no need to improve it. Thanks for posting the vid.

  • i own a p.d luneschloss solingen bayonet... its pretty nice, i got it through family if your wondering so it's pretty old and its still very sharp.

  • This is one of the best pocket knives a person can own. I buy them in bulk and put them all over the place. Tool box, truck, kitchen, garage, tackle box. Easy to carry because they are so slim. I've even been patted down and the knife was missed. 25 bucks is the price for one of these beauties. Can't beat it.

  • dude great vid but loose the music at the beginning! pleeeeeeaaaaassssssseeeeeee!

  • I have recently moved house and came across a knife I remember from my childhood that belonged to my father. I always liked the knife because of the springing cat on the handle! (Well I was very young at the time - I'm in my mid fifties now). Having re-discovered the knife I thought I'd look it up and was pleasantly surprised to find this video. Thanks for posting.

  • Great video, one of my favorite knives. The Mercator and the Douk Douk.

  • I remember those knives being a bargain when I was a kid.

    They still are.

These are excellent knives. Always have been and always will be.

  • Great videos !!!! I let the guys at Bladeforums know to look !!!!!
