I produced this video for Elliot and director Autumn DeWilde. She was a friend and photographer of Elliot and this was her first video. We had an amazing time trying to get the balloon to behave through the streets of Los Feliz and Echo Park. Elliot was quiet and shy. Rest in Peace!
obviously it has something to do with it. I try not to analyze this stuff because who knows, but it probably has something to do with being different.
This is one of the few songs I actually like better when he plays it solo, live.
yeah, Shiva is a dude. He has a whole stable of "bitches" though, including Kali, who some Hindus worship as the true god. They have huge orgies and ritual killings in her honor.
me too. my brother got me "new moon" for a present and i loved it so much i got all his albums. when i found out how he died i started crying. you can hear all his emotions in his music.
That was sarcasm about it being nice to believe right? I don't see how it would be nice that his girlfriend who he trusted and genuinely loved and was one of the people who didn't seem to get fed up and leave him and helped get him clean would go and stab him over a petty argument. I don't see how that's any better than he stabbed himself. Murder is not a "nice" alternative to suicide.
He was a person, Jennifer is a person, and neither of them more deserves to be stained than the other by responsibility for his death. That kind of speculation, speculation based on emotion rather than facts (even if you think it's based on facts, your emotion gives them color), is fucking ridiculous.
I love Elliott Smith and this video. I was one of the lucky ones to have seen him a few times in Seattle and Portland. Elliott obviously loved the Beatles, both musically and visually, as seen by this video - that last shot he looks like John Lennon. Also, this video is a reference to the 1960s French movie The Red Balloon. If you haven't seen it, I recommend you see it, it's sad and touching, just like Elliott's music.
For some reason this video reminds me of Winnie The Pooh! I love Elliott - such a shame about his untimely death. He should be even for renowned and famous than he is today!
Was this the original video? It's fantastic. This guy was like Van Gogh: I'm sure more people are going to know and appreciate him with time -- unfortunately more so than when he was alive
I remember this! I remember watching this and thinking "Wow. This is different. I get him."
This means the world to me. I recently connected with Elliott's music. Seeing this video means the world to me... I know I was connected with him while he was alive also.

its sam peckinpah he refers to he used to get smacked up and watch the wild bunch
matthewchops 2 years ago
Probably yes, since he says "couple killer", and Mr. David Berkowitz went after couples many times.

Or maybe not, cuz his father split his family up, and abused him.

Sorry, way too much information.
codemonkeybrains 3 years ago
Actually in a lot of sects, Shiva is androgynous. He/ she assumes different genders to suit his/her interests.

no, no sarcasm. i thnk it would be a nice alternative, though, i must say, than to kill yourself, playing a coward .
