  • Things Change

  • Keaton's truly the Batman stepped out of the comics.

  • This Is my favorite Batman film of all time. Batman 1989 is #1 in my favorite top 10 movies of all time. Batman Returns is a Masterpiece of a Very Dark Classic Sequel.

  • " Lifes a Birch, now so am I. "

  • I like the part where Batman smiles as he plants the bomb on the big guy. Lol!!! And the part where Catwoman says " Meow "

  • a 7 personas les llego un perro con una granada a su casas

  • the only thing i didnt like about keatons batman is his version of bruce wayne, like in the first batman when hes like "wanna get nuts?, lets get nuts common!" it was not bruce wayne yellin it was michel keaton yelling like a idiot, and he was a shrimp, too short, and not bruce wayne type at all but his batman beats out everyone elses version of batman hands down!

  • in my opinion the first (1989) and the second movie (1992) were the best, they can't not be compare with the dark knight(nolan) because theres a big diference of time, the dark night has a lot of especial effects (that was something that i din't like it) the batman from burton is a rel human hero, keaton made a sensacional perfomance with that misterious voice, and danny elfman once again did a really good work with the music, the best batman music of all the batmovies.!!

  • As much as Like this batman, he is so wimpy compared to the current Dark Knight Batman. The Dark Knight is a trained ninja, much more powerful than this Batman. Batman once again, like the first movie, has to basically trick the strong dude to win ( He got his butt handed to him in the first movie ) . The Dark Knight would have savagley destroy the strong man without having to use a bomb.

  • @zigomanis18 lol, right

  • Who is she?

    What is she?

Idk whether to open fire or fall in love.

  • Seriously, I'd kill to have a voice like Michael Keaton's.

  • Brilliant Movie.

  • Isn't weird how the Penguin's minions are clowns, and Joker's are just regular criminals in the first movie?

  • 5:17 - 5:23

Favorite part. That camera movement makes awesome atmosphere. Don't forget the music!

  • Wow besides the fact that keaton's too skinny, little, and old to be a legit batman..he has a really difficult time with catwoman! Bale's Batman actually looks like Batman and can knock out a whole swat team. How can anyone like keaton over bale? Kids..

  • @KevsHardLemonade ok keatons better than bale.... thanks..

  • @KevsHardLemonade Keaton is smooth with it. His eyes, his voice. He doesn't try to hard. Bale's batman voice sounds nasty, and his tumbler looks like a fucking tank! Keaton's batmobiles are smooth as a baby's bottom. just my 2 cents

  • @liltd87 yup agree! I mena dont get me wrong, Bale is a good batman but im sorry keaton rocks it man

  • @KevsHardLemonade yeah no fuckin problem dick. go fuck yourself

  • Comment removed

  • @Two27Face Wait till after you hit puberty, you'll find cursing doesnt make your dick any bigger. Sorry kid.

  • @KevsHardLemonade already have KID, and your right cursing doesnt make dicks bigger nice observation FUCK YOU GO FUCK YOUSELF. FUCKING FAGGOT< FUCKIN QUEER FUCK YOU

  • @KevsHardLemonade YOUR A LOSER

  • @Two27Face Isn't it awesome that internet anonymity makes pussies like you feel like tough guys lol

  • @KevsHardLemonade ight whatever you say buddy. im not gunn fight over youtube. its fuckin silly.

  • DAMN THE BATMAN SMILE SURE WAS EVIL WHEN HE BLEW THAT GUY UP.well at least he doesn't talk as if he has throat cancer. BEST BATMAN EVER

  • MICHAEL KEATON IS THE BEST BATMAN ANY OF YOU GUYS WILL EVER SEE! HES GOTS THE VOICE, THE POSTURE, AND THE FACE LIKE BATMAN. CHRISTIAN BALE HAS NOTHING ON MR. KEATON!

  • Im sorry. i always thought that batarang was kinda hooky.

  • I read somewhere that whenever Batman fights a criminal (maybe not someone like the Joker or Two-Face), he imagines it is Joe Chill, his parents' killer. That's why he never gives up.

  • @Visonu I dont know about that but Chill is probably Bats main drive in why he does what he does thats why i hated Chill in Batman Begins i actually had a smidgen of sympathy for his explanation for his actions.

Rather they had used the unamed gunman route of the original comics imo.

  • @damieandark personally?, i didn't like that much the background-story they used for "Batman Begins". yes, theater, but god, (yes there are several versions, i know that, but) Bruce and his parents didn't leave because Bruce was scared of bats. they were walking out of a MOVIE theater, and when they were walking through that dark alley (Crime Alley), they were killed by a mugger [or whatever it was], IN COLD BLOOD.

  • @damieandark the way Bruce's parents were killed in "Begins", wouldn't freak me out enough and/or traumatize me enough to put me down on the path to becoming "Batman" and/or want to do something about my parents' murder, or seek justice, or seek revenge/vengeance/etc-etc.

  • I thought batman isnt suppose to kill? didnt he just kill the fat guy with the tnt strapped on him?

  • @prestin01 in self-defense. Batman doesn't kill in cold blood. he doesn't even use a gun! O_O

  • Michael Keaton best Batman period. The End.

  • @600430 Bale's Batman has NOTHING on Keaton's Batman. you put those two Batmans to fight against each other, and Keaton's Batman would CREAM Bale's Batman.

  • @JediMasterLego We don't refer to them by the main actor's by the Directors its much more appropiate, Keaton had stunt doubles..but Burton took Bats into a direction that did feel like Batman not a super cop dressed as a bat.

  • and i thought spiderman 3 was bad...

  • Lol, those clowns just got Bat-owned.

  • Nobody kicks ass with the same look on their face as Mike Keaton does!

  • That dog is just the most powerful Batman's villain

  • @LordZaamus i heard they gonna have the batwing in batman 3

  • Comment removed

  • Batman Returns was as brilliant as the first Batman movie. Michael Keaton was definitely #1 Batman. Michelle Pfeiffer was brilliant as Catwoman. DeVito was great as well. Amazing sequel.

  • The best sequence in the movie...magic!

  • he's such a good batman - michael keaton, so good as bruce wayne/batman

  • I love both Batman and Returns... but still can't help but feel like both batmen are played different. Even though both are Keaton...

  • Hey, there are two catwomen at 4:40!

  • @LightStijn wow i didnt expect that, good eyes

  • One thing in this film I didn't really like was how when Batman threw the remote batarang, and how it was aiming toward the Poodle lady's face, yet the dog catches it at shin level. =/

  • I love this movie, it has some really awful editing in moments.

Observe moments 6:22 to 6:26. Catwoman falls off the building, exiting to the right of the frame, and ending up on the side of the neighboring rooftop, then Batman, still dangling from the roof at a different angle, lets go and falls , landing NEAR THE VERY TOP of the roof, and helps Catwoman up,

  • @hiitsmewutsup09 at first i thought the same thing. and i always did, and could never figure it out. but then it hit me, when watching this scene just now (after YEARS of always thinking that previous-opinion-you-mentioned about that edit): maybe he jumped to the other roof, and then grabbed Catwoman.

  • can't wait to get batman and batman returns for blu ray for christmas.

  • Dont know what it is, but Batman, and Batman Returns just had a mythical awesomeness about them, that Begins / Dark Knight cant touch.

Bale was a better Bruce Wayne, but Keaton is an unbeatable Batman.

  • @budokai140 I 100% agree with this.

  • Love the dialogue between Oswald and Bats. A favorite scene. "Thinks change."

  • It's the soundtrack that makes that scene so great.

  • @dessertbig

Very true. Elfman's score is fantastic, and in that scene, it's a subtle undertone to the dialogue. It blends perfectly in that moment.

  • Yeah I see what your saying with the speaking issue, but yes it is a matter of opinion, me and you can agree to disagree lol. The performance given by eckhardt is what i feel really made the character, he was spot on it his comic book inspiration I think.

  • @rcw0388

    Eckhardt?!!!

Oh wait, I thought you were talking about the fat sloppy cop in the first Batman.

"Hey Eckhardt, think about the future!"

  • haha I love that part.. I'm ready to get the Burton movies on blu ray, haven't seen them in a while.

  • yeah it was noticeable, but i think it was necessary in order to make the burn look realistic. i think two face looked great!

  • Hell yea 2face was the shit...way better than joels, i mean whats with all that purple n too much smiling. too cartoonish

  • @GemStealth yeah, joel schumacher had a way of fucking shit up.

  • It wasn't realistic. If it was, he'd be dead

    :P

  • @degree7 no. just because some of skin was burned off doesn't mean he'd be dead.

  • Yes, it wasn't as if just a bit of skin was singed.

He, literally, had little to no skin on one side of his face. Our skin kind of serves as a protection from bacteria and agents, you know?

  • Chris Nolan used very little CGI actually.

  • very true in fact he said he wanted to use as little CGI as required to make it more realistic. plus two faces scar CGI looked almost completely real at the end when batman turned dents face to the side.

  • If Nolan wanted to use as little CGI as required, he should have used make-up. It would have been more realistic if the burned half of Two-Face's face was just disfigured instead of burned away completely. It would have been cooler, too. Anyway, I agree with most of the comments here. Nolan's movies can't touch what Burton did.

  • well they already said nothing would look like that if you got your face burned. personally everything else excluded i like this version of two face because it's different take on the origin. don't get me wrong i like both looks but i prefer nolans version. CGI was used because they could make it look really good and he wanted to show teeth and muscles in the mouth, it fitted the damage. i hated tommy lee jones version i could just go on and on about that awful acting.

  • Also, I like the fact that in in Nolan's version Two-Face actually went by the fate of the coin, instead of just flipping it over and over again like Tommy Lee Jones did.

  • exactly dude! in the wayne manor scene he flips it like 5 times wanting the scarred side facing up to let him shoot bruce. It shows bias and Harvey twoface is not about that. and for the people saying he should of had the multiple personality disorder in TDK, no one gets it that quickly so im glad they made it realistic. by the way, since when is two face goofey? what the hell was going through their minds? "hey let's make him like jack nicholsons joker!"

  • @shadowmatt18 I agree with you 110%.

Despite, Heath Ledgers amazing acting as the Joker, I think that Eckharts performance really outshined his!

  • @Scoonertuna No the in the nolan's version, the two face also does that. esp in the car where he flips the coin twice and ends up killing the driver to destroy the car

  • @lifesgreat96 He flipped the coin twice because there were two people in the car. Remember, Harvey was a DA. If couldn't get Justice done one way he would find an alternate route. Flipping the coin for the driver was a loophole in Two-Face's system of Justice. If the coin had flipped heads, instead of tails, he wouldn't have killed the driver and, like the Joker, Harvey would have let him go.

  • @dessertbig Burton's movies are great, don't get me wrong, but Nolan's have far surpassed them.

  • @rcw0388 i wouldnt mind seeing this batman today maybe not to comicbookish like this but from a different vision like frank millers batman

  • @matrixlone Agreed, I would love to see a different approach to Batman once Nolan is finished.

  • @dessertbig couldn't agree more. another thing [i just noticed]: Nolan's Batman couldn't HANDLE multiple bad-guys (remember the scene in which Batman fights Ra's al Ghul's (ie. Liam Neeson's Ra's. not the old-guy Ra's at the beginning of the movie) ninjas, and he fights a whole bunch of 'em, and is later overwhelmed), whereas Michael Keaton's Batman COULD handle lots of bad guys all at once.

  • 3:40 to 3:47 uncut small scene :)

  • Batman: "Admiring your handiwork?"

Penguin: "Touring the riot scene.. Gravely accessing the devastation.. Upstanding Mayor stuff.."

    Batman: "You're not the Mayor."

    Penguin: "Things... Change."

    Batman: "What do you want?"

Penguin: "Ah, the direct approach.. I admire that in a man with a mask. Hehehe.... ... You don't really think you'll win do you..?"

    Batman: ".. Things Change."

The Best Batman moment ever. So true to the comic book's dialogue.

  • i agree!

  • which comic was that in?

  • I don't think it was from a comic, but the dialogue is very comic-y in terms of batman, where Batman has a say in which he uses the Villain's ideals or own words against them.

  • @Dmasterman YEAH!!! batmans eyes when penguin says "the direct approach" is batman all over the obsession and drive is all present in a single stare which are just two pools of darkness.

This is how batman should be not a shoutiing idiot but a calm and intelligent guy who frightens with his air of menace and question mark over his sanity to the crooks.

  • @Dmasterman I love the way Keatons batman hardly utters a word.

  • @youngcharlie36 that's what makes him an excellent batman

  • @Dmasterman DAMN right Keaton didnt have thebuild of a traditional Bruce/Batman but he is still the most beleivable actor to play the role imo his dead eyes after penguins "direct approach" line was just epic all the determination, drive and obsessiveness of Batman in a single glance THATS why he is the best actor to ever take the role imo.

  • @damieandark i couldn't agree more with you.

but also, what real-life actor DOES have the six-pack bodybuilder-type body of a traditional Bruce/Batman [and look realistically and/or "not 'too muscular'"]? almost NO-ONE, practically (except maybe Arnold Schwarzenegger when he was a bodybuilder but that (his heavily-muscular body) was an EXAGGERATION! O_O ). Keaton DEFINITELY had a muscle-bound-enough body, and the right facial expressions, and the most believable expressions [and acting] to..

  • @damieandark portray the "Batman" [character] we all know and love.

  • It annoyed me that Tim Burton once again had Batman fighting clowns.

  • Maybe Tim Burton just hates clowns.

  • He portrayed them sinisterly in Pee Wee's Big Adventure too.

  • Actually, if you remember in the first film, Batman fought no clowns (Aside from the Joker). He fought henchman wearing jackets and sunglasses and hats/berets.

  • this is the only old batman that can hold up to the dark knight

  • 3:47 - 5:20

Just the best of the best. Absolutely epic

  • "Killing babies? Isn't that a little..."

    *shoots him*

    "No, it's a lot"

  • Love this scene! Thanks!

    And what an awesome movie!

  • This my favorite Batman movie.

  • @exodusx599 Warner Brothers fucked it up with "Batman Forever", but they fucked it up EVEN *MORE* with "Batman & Robin". it was like a final "fuck you" to the fans of the Tim Burton "Batman" movies (which is how Batman is really supposed to be. dark and gothic. Batman was a character born in tragedy. His parents were murdered in cold blood.. right in front of him. When he was only 8 years old (or 9, or something like that). That's enough to make a kid go crazy, and/or wanting revenge and/or ..

  • @exodusx599 ..justice for his family, and to make sure that what happened to him never happens to anyone [else] ever again. Unless he had proper guidance from someone on what to do and/or how to get through the pain (like Alfred helped Bruce) he'd go ballistic.

  • hey if they say that Batman doesnt kill his enemies then why the hell did he kill that tough looking bald guy with the bomb?!

  • he did in the early comics.

  • First one was the best...

  • 4:38-4:59 is epic!

  • the music at 6:30 when Batman saves Catwoman from falling is just beautiful.

  • it looked like ghoul at 0:28 on the right

  • No, they did it because they thought it looked realistic. It was his attempt to make it flashy, and I doubt you knew everything that went on in that scene in begins.

Nolan even admit this and was criticized on it so he did hire a fight coordinator and kept the camera still. Perhaps you are the slow one, and I also think you probably believe a lot of martial arts work when they don't

    ;)

  • I hated the fighting scenes. they had bad filming and it was so blurry you couldn't see shit. I've seen better fighting in 1950's kung fu flick than that movie. In fact it was so terrible they got a fight choreographer in the next movie.

  • this was one of the better batman movies from that series

  • One thing I prefer about Keaton is his eyes do all the talking.

  • oh you forgot about his lips!!!

  • There'd be no dark knight without this.

  • THe dark knight and batman returns are the best batman's.

  • i thik they NEED a GREAT actor as catwomen/riddler to SAV the new batsy series

  • Agreed!

  • I think all batman MOVIES are awesome except for the ones made by Schumacher, they were so cheap in terms of story and action

  • when i saw this movie, i thought that 1:16-1:22 was the coolest batman thing

  • I didn't think a guy who wears tights could be such a bad ass. He first blows that fat guy to pieces, then he gets licked on the lips by beautiful catwoman. Bad ass.

  • this, begins, the dark knight and the original batman are the best 4, whereas orever and the mr freeze one are absolut bullshit

  • If this movie was directed by Schumacher the line would be " Hi penguin im Batman" =D

  • Michelle Phieffer did a better job as Catwoman than Hallie did!

  • How could you I'm a woman - LMFAO!

  • It was the BEST batman movie!

  • STEVEN SEAGAL DID PORN IN THE 80s!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wtf that was random =I

  • Great movie!!

  • Perfect Dialogue. It was very comic book-like. Loved it!

  • Absolutely. Quick-witted, sophisticated and tragic. Over the top and yet very human. Perfect movie. Probably Burton's best.

  • Indeed

  • "Admiring your handiwork?"

"..Touring the riot scene... Gravely assessing the devastation.. Upstanding mayor stuff."

    "You're not the mayor."

    "..Things change..."

    "What do you want?"

"Ah, the direct approach? I admire that in a man with a mask! Heh heh heh...You don't really think you'll win, do you?"

    "...Things change."

  • best batman so far-

    with it's best 'villain' :

    the penguin !!

  • i wish someone would upload this movie 2 youtube!!!

  • heathe ledger(the joker) michelle pfeifer( dont know exactly the spelling..catwoman)..and danny devito(the penguin)..best villains ever......nolan should make the sequel following the ending of this one...it would be a kick ass movie ever!!!!!!!....despiting unfornately thw work of schumacher........i hope nolan read this...no way...but thta idea would kick the major asss ever

  • He won't. they're too unrealistic for nolan's taste

  • Wow I forgot, unlike the Bale Batman that goes out of his way to make sure you go to jail, the Keaton Batman would straight up kill you if you pissed him off enough.

  • hell yea

  • Tim Burtons movies of The Batman are the best, then Nolan and the fag dont get a spot, but batman forerver was ok

  • catwomen juss said bitch at 6:19

  • I wouldn't at all compare it with the bourne films. The movement was dark, flashy and hardly visible, Nolan himself said he did this to cut down on choreography while giving the audience the feel of how a criminal would see Batman fighting. It wasn't really all that spectacular.

  • Batman kills a dude at 3:18. Batman is not supposed to do that.

  • batman has killed in comics. anyway, who gives a sh** about the comics, its a movie, all the movies take sh**load of liberties with the source material. seriously, does anyone really give a crap about the comics? i dont think so.

  • why do u have two thumb downs?

    technically he DID kill him.

  • Good fight scene, the fights in Batman begins were hard on the eyes. To much camera movement

  • yea when he first started fighting in the docks that irritated me.

  • Things Change :)

  • damn i watched this movie like a million times when i was 8 years old.

  • lol same i was obsessed with it. such a cool movie

  • so did I damn

  • batman should have pimp slapped that woman. "go get a real job hoe!"

  • one of the best cowls imo.. shame about the bodysuit though.

  • shes a nice pussy!

  • wilheim scream in there too...

  • yeah damn right he killed someone! this isn't that pussy Nolan kid shit.

  • THANK YOU! At least one person agrees with me!

  • HELL YEA!!! The Batman ownz!!! Some people dont like him because he doesnt have powers and im like kiss my ass The Batman kicks too much ass, Superman gets owned way too much to b super. Nolan is good though way better than joel lol

  • is it true that Tim Burton is the 1:05 sword-clown???????

  • i love at 5:48, batman is like "enough of this bullshit" and regulates

  • I love the henchmen in this one, that's something I miss in the new Batmans :(

  • Batman Returns scared the living shit out of me when I first saw it, now it's my 3rd favorite Batman movie losing out to Batman 1989 and Batman Begins

  • Why did this movie scare you? I'm not gonna make fun of you, I'd just like to know.

  • when I first saw it I was only 4

  • Well, that would explain a lot. Never watch Radiers of the lost ark when you're 4. Scary stuff.

  • I was coulple months old when this movie came out but now im 16 I said because I dont remember this movie so I cant say I was scared. but I was looking up The Batman movies and I read parents were complaining about Batman Returns being too dark and scary for their children which I found interesting

  • heh and now you look at what nolan created and its just as dark and violent if not worse. I wish tim burton would create an anime the continued his story

  • 3:00 to 3:09 alone makes Keaton the best Batman ever.

  • This video shows what Batman Begins totally lacked: great villains. The scene between Batman, Penguin, and Catwoman is classic. Great dialogue and incredible music. Also, this movie doesn't try to simplify the characters' psychology w/ simple words. Michelle Pfeiffer's transformation from Selina Kyle to Catwoman is far more convincing than Christian Bale's transformation from Bruce Wayne to Batman.

  • batman, batman returns, batman forever, batman begins and the dark night returns. best batmans

  • I don't know how you can say Begins is more true to the comic. When did you remember Batman ever using a Bat tank? Unless you refer to Frank Miller's Batman lol.

  • Technically Batman killed Rhas (No, even 'not helping someone' would be killing them).

Penguin was a new design yes, kind of like how TDK's Joker paints his face instead of becomming chemically scarred. And who cares about the batmobile? The main version of the vehicle is usually a sleek thin model, not a Tank. Scarecrow's design was so bleh, he basically was a man with a poatatoe sack on his head. At least they got his persona right, but I believe Crane was much older.
