To be an Orthodox is to learn to trust in Christ God knowing that He alone is the head, the heart and life of the Church and of the people. Welcome to the Mystery of the incarnation ....from a Coptic and Greek Orthodox servant of Christ our God.
When was created actually the Roman Cathoic Church ?! I knew that it was created by the Bishop of Rome, in 1054 ! So it was not created by Our Lord Jesus Christ ! NO COMMENTS !
Human being can only create fake churches ! GOD IS ONLY ONE AND HE CREATED ONE CHURCH ! All the Holy Apostles were EQUAL TO ONE ANOTHER, as of my knowledge ! Our Lord said that He will build His Church on the FAITH AND REPENTANCE ! Because Apostle Peter represented the FAITH AND REPENTANCE !
@mircea293 Eh? 1054 was the East / West Schism. The first USE of the word "Catholic" was in the year 107 in the letter to the Smyrnaeans by St. Ignatius of Antioch.
In 107 the Christian Church was ONE ! The word "catholic" means universal ! My purpose is not to argue with somebody ! My purpose is to open the eyes, with the help of GOD ! If you love a soul, tell him/her the Truth ! Show them the Light !
You know, GOD tells us which one is His Church ! He sends the Holy Light for Easter only for the Orthodox, we still discover Holy Relics of the Saints who are Orthodox, many miracles also happen in our Church ! Are you ready self denial ?
@mircea293 We still also have many miracles, I think your view of Catholicism is pretty ill-informed. Our See is the actual successor of Peter, the Orthodox split from us, not the other way around.
The Orthodox have NEVER accepted the universality or supremacy of the magisterium of Rome; rather, the Roman episcopay (from their standpoint) was simply one of many equals, prior to the schism. They regard Rome as the one that broke away. Also, they claim succession from Peter as well (since he was also the bishop of Antioch).
@JLFAN2009 Rome ALWAYS held Universal Jurisdiction, the "orthodox" sects did not start until 1054 rejecting Papal authority.
"The primacy of the Apostolic See having been established by the merit of the Apostle Peter, by dignity of the city of Rome, and by the authority of the Holy Synod, no pretended power shall arrogate to itself anything against the authority of that See. For peace can be universally preserved only when the whole Church acknowledges its ruler." Valentinian III A.D. 445
@JLFAN2009 The theological commission set up by Rome and Constantinople has stated (Ravenna, 2007) that the RCs & E. Orthodox agree on the canonicity of 3 levels of primacy (local, regional & universal) but that there are differences of understanding with regard to the manner in which primacy is to be exercised at the universal level & also with regard to its scriptural & theological foundations. Both sides agree that this canonical taxis was recognised by all in the era of the undivided Church.
@JLFAN2009 You can find online the document "Ecclesiological & Canonical consequences of the Sacramental Nature of the Church: Ecclesial Communion, Conciliarity & Authority" (Ravenna, 13.10.07) produced by the Joint International Commission for the Theological Dialogue Between the Roman Catholic Church & the Orthodox Church and signed by all the members who attended. This commission was set up by Rome and Constantinople.
@mircea293 Actually if you read what the Church Fathers said, you would know being in Union with Rome MEANS your Catholic. The "orthodox" sects did not start until 1054.
"By passing judgment on the Great See, concerning which it is not permitted any man to pass judgment, you have received anathema from all the Fathers of the venerable Councils..." Pope St. Leo IX Sept. 2, 1053
The Saviour, in giving authority to the Apostles before His Ascension, told them very clearly that He Himself would not cease to be the invisible Shepherd and Pilot of the Church. I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world (every day constantly and inseparably; Matt. 28:20).
The Lord Jesus Christ is also the Founder of the Church: I will build My Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it (Matt. 16:18).
The Orthodox Church of Christ refuses to recognize yet another head of the Church in the form of a" Vicar of Christ on earth,"a title given in the Roman Catholic Church to the Bishop of Rome. Such a title does not correspond either to the word of God or to the universal Church consciousness and tradition;it tears away the Church on earth from immediate unity with the heavenly Church. A vicar is assigned during the absence of the one replaced, but Christ is invisibly present in His Church always
The rejection by the ancient Church of the view of the Bishop of Rome as the Head of the Church and Vicar of Christ upon earth is expressed in the writings of those who were active in the Ecumenical Councils. The Second Ecumenical Council of bishops, after the completion of their activities, wrote an epistle to Pope Damasus and other bishops of the Roman Church which ended thus:
"When in this way the teaching of Faith is in agreement, and Christian love is established in us, we will cease to speak the words which were condemned by the Apostle: I am of Paul, I am of Apollo, I am of Cephas. And when we will all be manifest as of Christ, since Christ is not divided in us, then by God's mercy we will preserve the Body of Christ undivided, and will boldly stand before the throne of the Lord."
"I witness now before God and men, they have torn themselves away from the Body of Christ, from the Supreme See (Rome), in which Christ placed the keys of the Faith, against which the gates of hell (I mean the mouth of heretics) have not prevailed, and never will until the Consummation, according to the promise of Him Who cannot lie. Let the blessed and Apostolic Paschal rejoice therefore, for he has fulfilled the work of Peter." St. Theodore The Studite of Constantinople (Early 9th Century)
I am a Roman Catholic and I will pray for you. I will pray that you will open your heart and come home to the One True Church. Not the Orthodox which began in 1054. But the true Universal Church.
What do Michael Cerularius and Martin Luther have in common? They both protested against Rome.
"The blessed Apostle Peter, in his successors, has handed down what he received. Who would be willing to seperate himself from the doctrine of whom the Master himself instructed first among the apostles?" Pope Sixtus III To John of Antioch(A.D. 433)
Protestantism is the younger sister of the Eastern "orthodox"
The Roman Catholic church was created in 1054 when the Bishop of Rome split with its church from the ORTHODOXY ! He became the head of the new created church by REMOVING/REPLACING OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST ! THE ORTHODOX CHURCH REMAINS THE SAME, FOR EVER, BECAUSE WAS CREATED BY GOD ! WAS CREATED BY OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST WHO IS THE HEAD OF THE ORTHODOX CHURCH FROM THE BEGINNING ! AND THIS IS THE CHURCH WHO IS STILL GIVING SAINTS ! THIS IS THE CHURCH GETTING THE HOLY LIGHT
@mircea293 “The Roman Church, which is the head of all the churches.” Victor of Vita (ca. 485 A.D.)
“You know that the Synodal laws have it that if any doubt arise in matters pertaining to the state of the church, we have recourse to the Bishop of the Roman Church as to our head.” St.Avitus (ca. 495 A.D.)
“Rome the See of Peter, which has been made to the whole world the head of the pastoral office.” St. Prosper of Acquitaine (450 A.D.)
@elcamaras You certainly can't believe this. Any reading of history shows that it was the Pope who separated from the other four patriarchs, not the other way around.
@barefootinroann any reading of history someone will know that the "orthodox" were the first protestants rejecting Papal authority in 1054.
"...Neither by Augustus, nor by all the clergy, nor by religious, nor by the people will the judge be judged..The first seat will not be judged by anyone." Pope St. Nicholas [A.D.865]
also Constantinople left Rome, not the other "4 patriarchs" Are you aware there are still Catholic Churches in the east? or how about the Maronite Catholic?
@elcamaras wowowow come home to what you need to come home to the uncorupted faith as you can see we were the first christian religion and you are well come we will take you back it is the house of God hahahahahahhaha
@elcamaras it's funny how western catholic people think the other way round about the Orthodox church. We, the eastern Orthodox, think exactly the same thing of you. Did you go into further searching, reading and analysis?
@oanna4now Moreover, have you? "The true Church on earth is identified in history by her adherence to a visible head, whose supreme authority uniquely marks and distinguishes it as the one apostolic body of bishops charged to teach and safeguard the orthodox faith in all its integrity. It is obvious that the only credible claimant to the visible headship of, and supreme authority in the entire Church of East and West, has been the Bishop of Rome".
@oanna4now Or to quote fourth century St Ambrose: "Where Peter is, there is the Church". It doesn't matter who claims what, also protestants claim to be the original Christian religion. Truth doesn't contradict another truth. Orthodoxy may well have been founded legitimately and have valid Bishops, but separation from the successor of Peter is a separation from the Church he represents, the very one Christ founded.
@DCDUO yes, truth does not contradict another truth. and since I don't usually post on youtube, I won't come up with citations, but will leave you with some things to look into which i consider relevant : take a look to holyfire.org & then if you want to: "Why I Converted To Eastern Orthodoxy : Author Frank Shaeffer" (just an interview, on youtube) and also I'd point out the letters St. Gregory the Great (VI th century) wrote about the idea of "supreme authority" and universality. regards
Glad you found your way to the true spirit of Christ and the true historical Church of the Apostles. I pray that this revelation helps you grow in your faith!
It is disheartening to hear you say that you are leaving the western rite for the eastern orthodox communion. It comforts me a little to know that you won't wander off too far, but from what I see as a former Anglican/Episcopalian, you will not escape the rules of obedience. Did you inquire about the Byzantine Rite? I wish you well as I pray for your return to the Roman Rite.
You are a Priest forever. I have watched the once beautiful Catholic Church devolve in to a weak shadow of Her former self. I cannot leave Her because I love Her, yet there are times when I have to ask myself what am I doing.
@peripsumetcumipso Yeah right, you have been on this earth for hundreds of years and have seen the changes. This man is a member of a faction and not in any way representative of the Catholic faith. As far as you are concerned, my suggestion is to leave and fo not let the parish doors smack you on the posterior when you do so. Every faith has issues yet not every parishoner runs away. Join up with Father Ted, Steven or Nathan and find your true calling.

Peace be with you! Father, There is a spiritual war going on now more than ever. Do not leave the Traditional Catholic teachings prior to Vatican II. Hold fast to your faith that Jesus Christ instituted. Look for the saints to help you. Follow the steps of St. Francis of Assisi, Padre Pio, and St. Joseph of Cupertino. The devil is trying to dismantle the church, but we will not let him. We have to be warriors for Christ and bring others to the true mass. Pray, pray, pray the rosary.
@CarlosMacMartin No He doesn't need a middleman. That's why, in order to keep the law, He became incarnated as Jesus Christ, so that sinners (whom by the Law of God cannot have fellowship with God) may, through Jesus Christ, "reach" God. This of course requires sinners to accept Jesus as Lord.
FYI: You may accept the above as the absolute thruth that it is. However, if you don't, it's inconsequential because God's precepts and will don't depend on our approval or acceptance.
Father, do not let the right hand KNOW what the left hand is doing. Who cares what ur gonna do. Just do it! All you did with this video is STARTED arguments which are NOT good for ppls's souls. I suggest you practice HUMILITY and just GO AWAY with ur videos!
I will respond to the fools commenting below! SHUT UP! Ignorance qualifies you to speak, wisdom to remain SILENT and let GOD answer when he comes back, will disqualify the FOOLS!
God does care what theology you belong to...otherwise he wouldnt of come to earth to save us..read the early church fathers...as blessed cardinal newman quoted.."to be steep in history is to cease to be protestant"..pax et bonum
I thought about going to a different "type" of Catholic Church, but then realized that the Church in Rome is the ONE established by Jesus. Not just up to a point, but for ALL time.At what point did Jesus say the keys would be taken away? Did he not rather say that the gates of H*** would not prevail against it? If the Church in Rome is the one established by Christ, who are we to say otherwise? I hope you will reconsider.I understand there are problems in the Church, but she is still our Mother.
@TastetheTeardrops by what bases of proof you claimed you said that the roman church is the "One established by Jesus"?? do you believed in the Bible is the word of God ? therefore should be our bases for our testimony that teaches us the truth! not just custom and tradition which is different from the early apostle of christ..
@jyan1969 Who teaches the word of God? If I leave it up to private enterpretation, I alone can arrive at many different conclusions. Truly the way I came to believe is through the other Dogmas of the faith(Mary as Mother of God, The Real Presence, etc..) and based on those beliefs and the fact that the Roman Catholic Church is the only church that teaches those doctrines is how I came to my conclusion that it is the Church established by Jesus, but there is support in scripture as well
@TastetheTeardrops what kind of priest you are ?? where did you got that belief that mary is the mother of God?? God has no mother..you stupid catholic, by the way i was born catholic too.. i understand ur concept you guys was deluded by ur priest who also ignorant about the bible.. is there any mention in the bible that says God has a mother ?? dont identify christ as just personification of a man.. my goodnes
Glory to Jesus Christ ! I too Father am making the change after 50 years of Consecrated Life. I will be apart of the Greek Orthodox Church. You will be in my prayers. Bless Father.
Keep up the good fight. Finish the race. Will you forsake your apostolic forefathers because of postmodernistic views on the Catholic Church? This is what Satan wants and he will win if he can thrust doubt into your heart. The church has faced opposition for centuries. Because we are in the last days this is to be expected. Don't fold and give into doubt; discouragement is Satan's #1 tool in the shed. And don't listen to youtuber comments encouraging u to leave. It is Satanic in influence.

It is great that there are those who strongly desire to recapture the "Orthodoxy" that existed in the West, prior to the Schism in 1054. There exists Western Orthodox jurisdictions under the Antiochian Orthodox Church and the Russian Orthodox Church outside of Russia. Maybe by the Grace of God, this will ignite a movement back to the true roots of Christianity.
My wife is Catholic and I've attended mass but the controversies surrounding the church will leave a permanent black mark and keep people like myself away.I cannot in good conscience support & church that protected and protects "human scum". I won't go into detail here.About the Orthodox, well I spoke to an Orthodox Father before the New Year and
the discussion was good. However, there is no such thing as "One True Way" to salvation or to heaven.Sorry! I don't agree that Jesus taught this.
Catholics are hijacked by illuminati. And u're probably ruled by them or deceived and used by them. Your faith is weak, and I think it's because catholics don't know for sure what they believe. So wake up. And don't skip this message. I know you. Ask God if u have doubts.
Leave the catholic church...is a ridiculous waste of your time. I left it 3 years ago and Ive never been happier. I got educated and read Science and took REASON INTO MY LIFE. Youre an intelligent man...if you want to do some good for the world, that twisted church is not the way to do it.
I don't find any instruction given to the Church telling persons in the Church to fast. Interestingly enough, the Law of Moses gave Israel mostly feast days instead of fast days. The word "fast" never occurs in the Law of Moses. However, the afflicting of the soul on the Day of Atonement evidently refers to fasting that one day.
Feel very sorry for you. You sound very misguided. You're not the first priest to leave and you won't be the last. Judas was the first to leave the truth.
The ORTHODOX CHURCH is the one Church founded by Jesus Christ and his apostles, begun at the day of Pentecost with the descent of the Holy Spirit in the year 33 A.D. It is also known (especially in the contemporary West) as the Eastern Orthodox Church or the Greek Orthodox Church. It may also be called the Orthodox Catholic Church, the Orthodox Christian Church, the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church, the Body of Christ, the Bride of Christ, or simply the Church
@VlachArtist "Wherefore the most holy and blessed Leo, archbishop of the great and elder Rome, through us, and through this present most holy synod together with the thrice blessed and all-glorious Peter the Apostle, who is the rock and foundation of the Catholic Church... Council of Chalcedon,Session III (A.D. 451)
The bishops of the Orthodox Churches trace unbroken succession to the very apostles themselves, therefore ultimately receiving their consecrations from our Lord Jesus Christ. All the bishops of the Eastern Orthodox Churches, no matter their titles, are equal in their sacramental office.
The various titles given to bishops are simply administrative or honorific in their essence.
At an ecumenical council, each bishop may cast only one vote, whether he is the Ecumenical Patriarch or simply an auxiliary bishop without a diocese. Thus, there is no equivalent to the Roman Catholic papacy within the Eastern Orthodox Churches.
As with its Apostolic succession, the faith held by the Church is that which was handed by Christ to the apostles. Nothing is added to or subtracted from that deposit of faith which was "handed once for all to the saints" (Jude 3).
2. Can you give me a quote from the first 1000 years of someone saying "Greek orthodox" "Chinese orthodox" ETC....
3.What makes a Ecumenical Council "Ecumenical" ???
“Declared, when desired by the Emperor Anastasius to condemn the Council of Chalcedon, that such a step, without an ecumenical Synod presided over by the Pope, was impossible.” Macedonius, Patriarch of Constantinople (466-516 A.D.)
Throughout history, various heresies have afflicted the Church, and at those times the Church makes dogmatic pronouncements (especially at ecumenical councils) delineating in new language what has always been believed by the Church, thus preventing the spread of heresy and calling to repentance those who rend asunder the Body of Christ. Its primary statement of faith is the Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed.
The bishop is the first and highest degree of the clergy in the Orthodox Church
A bishop is the successor to the Apostles in the service and government of the Church. No bishop in Orthodoxy is considered infallible. None has any authority over or apart from his priests, deacons, and people or the other bishops. They have the responsibility of maintaining the unity of the Church throughout the world by insuring the truth and unity of the faith and practice of their diocese.
We orthodox never changed faith, and any impartial historian can confirm that, whereas the catholics and protestants constantly add inovations to the dogmas and faith.
Peter was an apostol, Filip was an apostol,Paul was an apostol
All of them preached in the name of Jesus Christ the Lord.
Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church, not Peter and not the pope.
The pope now isn't even the descendand of Peter, because he changed faith so much that now is different what Peter preached
2. Can you give me a quote from the first 1000 years of someone saying "Greek orthodox" "Chinese orthodox" ETC....
3.What makes a Ecumenical Council "Ecumenical" ???
4.“You know that the Synodal laws have it that if any doubt arise in matters pertaining to the state of the church, we have recourse to the Bishop of the Roman Church as to our head.” St.Avitus (ca. 495 A.D.)
ARIANISM was a 4th century heresy named after Arius (c.250-336), a presbyter in Alexandria, Egypt, who taught that the Son of God was not co-eternal and consubstantial with His Father, but rather a created being with a definite origin in time. In Arius's words, "there was [a time] when he (the Son) was not." This led to the calling of the First Ecumenical Council, which condemned it and its author and established the Orthodox doctrine of the Holy Trinity
@PapalSoldier And YES! All bishops are equal as the apostoles were equal.
Saying that one man is infailible and proclaiming hin head of the church in place of Jesus Christ is madness heresy.
Catolicism is the religion of the pope.
Orthodoxy is the true Faith preached by Jesus Christ and after Him by the apostoles who made bishops and so on until today, we THE ORTHODOX CHRISTIANS have continuity from the Apostoles.
We never changed faith! We keep it intact as we received it 2000 years ago.
@VlachArtist Throughout salvation history, God has appointed earthly shepherds over His flock (Abraham, Moses, David, etc.). Christ didn't decide to splinter His New Covenant Kingdom into territorial bishoprics. He appointed an earthly shepherd, a royal prime minister over the Kingdom, and that was St.Peter and His successors.
"For what purpose did He shed His blood? It was that He might win these sheep which he entrusted to Peter and his successors." St.John Chrysostom (A.D.387)
hi.i wach your videos priviesly,i was attend to a sspx monastary 2 years in belgium, now i wud like to becam a prist in legion of crist hier in uk. personal, what is your advice for a 21 years old adult? pl if u can answ.thanks.
The pope is the beast of Rev13 and the vatican is the harlot church of Rev17. The pope changed the sabbath day to sunday a pagan satanic day,he gave orders to torture and kill the true christians in the dark ages 50 million in total,he called himself JESUS SUBSTITUE vicarus filii dei which is what the prophet daniel said the anti christ would dare to claim about himself. Rev17 says the harlot church sits with the anti christ on the city which lays on seven hills ROME. Put it together JESUSLOVESU
So brother, I'm glad you came back to The Orthodox Church. Orthodoxy is the only true Faith and has remained unchanged since Christ and the Apostoles. All the other "so called christian churches" have been made by humans to serve their interests.
Christ has created a Single True Church, The Christian Orthodox Church
All those who change Faith and leave it are heretics. That's the definition of the word heretic.
God bless you and the others who returned to Orthodoxy!
If you are a Lutheran, your religion was founded by Martin Luther, an ex-monk of the Catholic Church, in the year 1517.
If you belong to the Church of England, your religion was founded by King Henry VIII in the year 1534 because the Pope would not grant him a divorce with the right to re-marry.
If you are a Presbyterian, your religion was founded by John Knox in Scotland in the year 1560.
If you are a Congregationalist, your religion was originated by Robert Brown in Holland in 1582.
If you are Protestant Episcopalian, your religion was an offshoot of the Church of England, founded by Samuel Senbury in the American colonies in the 17th century.
If you worship with the Salvation Army, your sect began with William Booth in London in 1865.
If you are Christian Scientist, you look to 1879 as the year in which your religion was born and to Mary Baker Eddy as its founder.
If you belong to one of the religious organizations known as "Church of the Nazarene, Pentecostal Gospel," "Holiness Church," or "Jehovah's Witnesses," your religion is one of the hundreds of new sects founded by men within the past hundred years.
If you are Roman Catholic, your church shared the same rich apostolic and doctrinal heritage as the Orthodox Church for the first thousand years of its history, since during the first millennium they were one and the same Church.Lamentably,in1054,the Pope of Rome broke away from the other4Apostolic Patriarchates(which include Constantinople,Alexandria,Antioch and Jerusalem),by tampering with the Original Creed of the Church, and considering himself to be infallible. Thus your church is1,000years old
If you are Orthodox Christian, your religion was founded in the year 33 by Jesus Christ, the Son of God. It has not changed since that time. Our church is now almost 2,000 years old. And it is for this reason, that Orthodoxy, the Church of the Apostles and the Fathers is considered the true "one Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church." This is the greatest legacy that we can pass on to the young people of the new millennium.
Sancte Michael Archangele defende nos in proelio, contra nequitiam et insidias diaboli esto praesidium. Imperet illi Deus, supplices deprecamur tuque, Princeps militiae caelestis, Satanam aliosque spiritus malignos, qui ad perditionem animarum pervagantur in mundo, divina virtute, in infernum detrude. Amen.
father, what do you think of the orthodox christian church ? do you happen to know the mysticism of this church, or some of its anchorites, or elders ?
"When you come to know yourselves, then you will become known, and you will realize that it is you who are the sons of the living father. But if you will not know yourselves, you dwell in poverty and it is you who are that poverty." The kingdom of god is wherever the just (wo)man appears, wherever men behave towards each other in a spirit of brotherhood. What authority can be claimed by a man who hid the sexual abuse of children. There is no church there. It is in loving that we worship.
The abandonment and rejection of the Christian religion, and the denial of God and his Christ, has plunged the minds of many into the abyss of atheism.. the consequence is they strive to deny any criterion of what is right and just.... And so we, following in the footsteps of our predecessors, in accordance with our supreme apostolic office, have never left off teaching and defending Catholic truth and CONDEMNING ERRONEOUS DOCTRINES
@JesusChristMuslim Blessed Nicholas Talvilich (died 1391): "You Mohammedans are in a state of everlasting damnation. Your Koran is not God's law nor is it revealed by Him. Far from being a good thing, your law is utterly evil. It is founded neither in the Old Testament nor in the New. In it are lies, foolish things, buffooneries, contradictions, and much that leads not to virtue and goodness but to evil and to all manner of vice."
@JesusChristMuslim Saint Peter Mavimenus (died A.D. 743): "Whoever does not embrace the Catholic Christian religion will be damned, as was your false prophet Mohammed." (Roman Martyrology, February 21st) [Upon this profession of the faith, the infidel murdered him.]
But I thought you said that you believe in the bible alone? yet you claim that that "God's children received the bible in first century AD" but it does not say that in the bible. This proves your inconsistency and that your position and beliefs are false. Pleae tell us who told you that God's children received the bible in first century AD and how do we know that they are telling the truth if its not stated in the bible.
But my experience is that there is an active presence and action of Virgin Mary in the Roman Church and things do work there - otherwise phenomena of post-death uncorruption with a number of modern Roman saints would not be possible. But it seems to me its easier to reach sainthood in the Eastern Church. On other hand the Orthodox church suffers from the heresy of nationalism which heavily effected many local churches and nationalism is a big problem there but maybe its less felt in the US
I am Orthodox Christian and I often help in the altar and I can tell one thing - Communion in the Orthodox Church works in a very powerful way, you feel it through to the bones - I would describe it as feeling lightness, weight loss, easiness in movement, peace and joy of heart, calmness. I have been into Catholic Church before, but I have never been taking Communion there on regular basis (just 3-4 times in total in special cases as I live on an island) - I really dont know how it is...
The Orthodox Churches are blessed with the Body of Christ. Praise be to Jesus Christ for that! Yet, Jesus built only one Church, and Jesus prayed that it would be one. It was his second to last prayer (other than the prayer that his persecutors be forgiven) John 17:22-23. You know already that nationalism separates the Orthodox Churches and they are not united. Only the Church, built upon Peter (Matt 16:18) is one because it is the Church Jesus prayed for.
@FaithEtRatio How can the "orthodox" sects be blessed when they left the Chair of Peter? They are under anathema. The "orthodox" aren't even one church, they are a multitude each with their own self governance.
"The holy Roman Church is senior to the other churches not by virtue of any synodal decrees, but obtained the primacy from Our Lord and Savior in the words of the Gospel,'Thou art Peter...' "Pope Gelasius(A.D. 492)
How can you have valid consecration of the host and not be blessed? Even the Old Catholic Church, in so far as it's valid offering up of the Sacrifice of Calvary by rightly ordained priests occurs, there is a blessing. Their disunity is not a blessing. They do not have the authority given by God behind them as a Church, but they retain valid holy Orders and sacraments, and that IS a blessing.
My beloved brother in Christ and holy son of our Mother the heresy you preach, called Donatism, was refuted by the Church in the fourth and fifth centuries.Sacramental validity comes from the act of the sacrament, not from the doer. The necessity for valid ordinations are kept in the schismatic churches, as is the consecration of the Eucharist. They are valid, but illicit, because Jesus prayed for unity and they fall outside of that unity.
@FaithEtRatio I well aware what Donatism is, I'm simply saying that sacraments from heretical and schismatic sects are not effective.
"I think it is my duty to consult the chair of Peter, and to turn to a church (Rome) whose faith has been praised by Paul. I appeal for spiritual food to the church whence I have received the garb of Christ." St. Jerome,To Pope Damasus "Letter 15," 376 A.D.
How can a valid Eucharist not be effective? Consider all those churches which are split from our own. Those that keep the valid sacrament of the Eucharist do not slip into unbelief like those that do not have the Eucharist. Besides, consider how much holier people come from those traditions which keep the Eucharist validly. What is it not effective for? The graces are evident because the sheer presence of Christ is a grace.
@FaithEtRatio God only has ONE Church, The Catholic Church, schismatics are broken branches. "I profess that outside the Catholic Church, no one is saved." Pope Sylvester II, A.D. 999-1003
St. Bonaventure ( A.D. 1274): The sacraments may be conferred by either the good or the wicked, the faithful or the heretical, within the Church or outside it: but within the Church, they are conferred both in fact and in effect, while outside it, although conferred in fact, they are not effective.
That is a beautiful quotation by St. Bonaventure.. but what do they not effect? We believe they are valid, and we know that there are illicit masses within the Catholic Church, and yet the sacraments are still effective for the reception of grace.
@FaithEtRatio Sacraments from heretical sects are nothing, Can you imagine a Greek "orthodox" preaching against God's Church denying the Papacy, Immaculate Conception etc..?
"Your grace must be besought not to permit any disturbance of the Roman Church, the head of the whole Roman World and of the most holy faith of the Apostles, for from thence flow out to all(churches) the bonds of sacred communion." St.Ambrose,To Emperor Gratian (A.D. 381)
Brother in Christ, your blasphemies against the Eucharist are disheartening. In your love for the only true Church established by Christ you disparage the Eucharist. The Eucharist is never "nothing" when validly consecrated. It doesn't matter what the priest says in that Church, because the Eucharist is valid. As a Catholic your first love should be Christ, especially in the Eucharist as the eternal Sacrifice. Nothing should cause you to call Him "nothing."
@FaithEtRatio according to you, one can memorize the words of a heretical or schismatic priest not in Union with Rome, say the words and it's consecrated. Are you rejecting the Catholic Dogma, No salvation outside The Church?
Not at all. Consecration requires a validly ordained priest, the words of consecration, and the proper matter (bread and wine). This is what the Church has always taught. It is no rejection of any doctrine and does not speak about salvation. You don't have to disparage the Eucharist just to defend No Salvation outside of the Church.
@FaithEtRatio You still don't understand, after the Greek heretics started the "orthodox" sect in 1054, it is forbidden by the way they ordain in canon 3 of the 7th Ecumenical council. God is ONLY with His Church.
The Church, which has the only authority to interpret the councils, continues to consider the Eastern schismatics to have valid orders. Your application of the canon may be flawed, at any rate, since the orthodox Churches are still appointed by the Catholic method of laying on of hands. The Church, who is our true and sure guide to understanding Scripture and tradition does not apply the canon as you do. Truly, i don't see them breaking with the canon either.
@FaithEtRatio It's a mortal sin for a Catholic to go into a non-Catholic sect and pray.
Pope Eugene IV, Council of Florence Ex Cathedra: “The Holy Roman Church firmly believes, professes and preaches that all those who are outside the Catholic Church, not only pagans but also Jews or heretics and schismatics, cannot share in eternal life and will go into the everlasting fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels, unless they are joined to the Church before the end of their lives...”
@FaithEtRatio Heretics and schismatics DO NOT have "valid orders" St.Thomas and St.Bonaventure disagree with you. Every Eucharistic miracle was in a Catholic Church. Unless they rejoin The Church, and learn they information they missed since 1054, they are all hellbound.
Neither St. Thomas or Bonaventure ever said that the Eastern "orthodox" have lost their valid orders. As a papal soldier, as you claim to be, it may be of some benefit for you to not declare invalid what the popes have not declared invalid. Pope Benedict reaffirmed their valid sacraments, as opposed to the invalidity of the protestant churches in 2007. If you are a true servant of the Church, you should not break with the authority of the papacy on issues of validity.
@FaithEtRatio "Pope" Benedict was also praying with Lutheran female pastors and in synagogues, i'm pretty sure you would say they have true worship also right? It's ironic how you say they have valid sacraments, yet there is no salvation outside The Church, so much for sacraments being valid. God has ONE Church. Built upon One Rock.
Benedict is the successor of Peter, and he has many times reinforced the fact that protestant Churches are not even rightly called "church." However, valid orders exist outside of the Catholic Church because why else would Apostolicae Curae have to have been written for Anglican ordinations? That was 70 years prior to Vatican II. Even after it, Old Catholic Church ordinations are seen as valid, so why not the Orthodox, whose ordinations have never been doubted by the Holy See?
Wherefore, by divine and Catholic faith all those things are to be believed which are contained in the word of God as found in Scripture and tradition, and which are proposed by the Church as matters to be believed as divinely revealed, whether by her solemn judgment or in her ordinary and universal magisterium.
The pope, who is the ordinary interpreter of tradition, disagrees. Even Aquinas believed in baptism of desire. Return from your narrow interpretation, brother in Christ.
God wants you to evolve. And you will evolve.

@mircea293 Eh? 1054 was the East / West Schism. The first USE of the word "Catholic" was in the year 107 in the letter to the Smyrnaeans by St. Ignatius of Antioch.

Dear DCDUO

DCDUO 1 week ago

@mircea293 Actually if you read what the Church Fathers said, you would know being in Union with Rome MEANS your Catholic. The "orthodox" sects did not start until 1054.

The Head of the Church
The Saviour, in giving authority to the Apostles before His Ascension, told them very clearly that He Himself would not cease to be the invisible Shepherd and Pilot of the Church. I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world (every day constantly and inseparably; Matt. 28:20).
The Lord Jesus Christ is also the Founder of the Church: I will build My Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it (Matt. 16:18).
He also is its Head.
VlachArtist 1 week ago
The Orthodox Church of Christ refuses to recognize yet another head of the Church in the form of a" Vicar of Christ on earth,"a title given in the Roman Catholic Church to the Bishop of Rome. Such a title does not correspond either to the word of God or to the universal Church consciousness and tradition;it tears away the Church on earth from immediate unity with the heavenly Church. A vicar is assigned during the absence of the one replaced, but Christ is invisibly present in His Church always
VlachArtist 1 week ago
The rejection by the ancient Church of the view of the Bishop of Rome as the Head of the Church and Vicar of Christ upon earth is expressed in the writings of those who were active in the Ecumenical Councils. The Second Ecumenical Council of bishops, after the completion of their activities, wrote an epistle to Pope Damasus and other bishops of the Roman Church which ended thus:

@oanna4now Or to quote fourth century St Ambrose: "Where Peter is, there is the Church". It doesn't matter who claims what, also protestants claim to be the original Christian religion. Truth doesn't contradict another truth. Orthodoxy may well have been founded legitimately and have valid Bishops, but separation from the successor of Peter is a separation from the Church he represents, the very one Christ founded.

CarlosMacMartin 2 weeks ago
@CarlosMacMartin No He doesn't need a middleman. That's why, in order to keep the law, He became incarnated as Jesus Christ, so that sinners (whom by the Law of God cannot have fellowship with God) may, through Jesus Christ, "reach" God. This of course requires sinners to accept Jesus as Lord.
FYI: You may accept the above as the absolute thruth that it is. However, if you don't, it's inconsequential because God's precepts and will don't depend on our approval or acceptance.
In Him.

VlachArtist 3 weeks ago
At an ecumenical council, each bishop may cast only one vote, whether he is the Ecumenical Patriarch or simply an auxiliary bishop without a diocese. Thus, there is no equivalent to the Roman Catholic papacy within the Eastern Orthodox Churches.
As with its Apostolic succession, the faith held by the Church is that which was handed by Christ to the apostles. Nothing is added to or subtracted from that deposit of faith which was "handed once for all to the saints" (Jude 3).

Ecumenical Councils are extraordinary synods of bishops which primarily decide upon dogmatic formulations, especially in the face of heresy.
I. Nicea, (325); repudiated Arianism, adopted the Nicene Creed.

III. Ephesus, (431); repudiated Nestorianism

The bishop is the first and highest degree of the clergy in the Orthodox Church
A bishop is the successor to the Apostles in the service and government of the Church. No bishop in Orthodoxy is considered infallible. None has any authority over or apart from his priests, deacons, and people or the other bishops. 1.If all bishops are equal why aren't you arian?
2. Can you give me a quote from the first 1000 years of someone saying "Greek orthodox" "Chinese orthodox" ETC....
3.What makes a Ecumenical Council "Ecumenical" ???

@PapalSoldier

How old is the orthodox faith?
If you are a Lutheran, your religion was founded by Martin Luther, an ex-monk of the Catholic Church, in the year 1517.
If you belong to the Church of England, your religion was founded by King Henry VIII in the year 1534 because the Pope would not grant him a divorce with the right to re-marry.
VlachArtist 3 weeks ago
If you are a Presbyterian, your religion was founded by John Knox in Scotland in the year 1560.
If you are a Congregationalist, your religion was originated by Robert Brown in Holland in 1582.
If you are Protestant Episcopalian, your religion was an offshoot of the Church of England, founded by Samuel Senbury in the American colonies in the 17th century.
VlachArtist 3 weeks ago
If you are a Baptist, you owe the tenets of your religion to John Smyth, who launched it in Amsterdam in 1606.
If you are of the Dutch Reformed Church, you recognize Michelis Jones as founder because he originated your religion in New York in 1628.
If you are a Methodist, your religion was founded by John and Charles Wesley in England in 1774.
If you are a Mormon (Latter Day Saints), Joseph Smith started your religion in Palmyra, New York, in 1829.
VlachArtist 3 weeks ago

Thus your church is1,000years old
VlachArtist 3 weeks ago
If you are Orthodox Christian, your religion was founded in the year 33 by Jesus Christ, the Son of God. It has not changed since that time. Our church is now almost 2,000 years old. And it is for this reason, that Orthodoxy, the Church of the Apostles and the Fathers is considered the true "one Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church." This is the greatest legacy that we can pass on to the young people of the new millennium.

I have been into Catholic Church before, but I have never been taking Communion there on regular basis (just 3-4 times in total in special cases as I live on an island) - I really dont know how it is...
zakharii 1 month ago
@zakharii
FaithEtRatio 1 month ago
@FaithEtRatio How can the "orthodox" sects be blessed when they left the Chair of Peter? They are under anathema. The "orthodox" aren't even one church, they are a multitude each with their own self governance.
"The holy Roman Church is senior to the other churches not by virtue of any synodal decrees, but obtained the primacy from Our Lord and Savior in the words of the Gospel,'Thou art Peter...' "Pope Gelasius(A.D. 492)

@PapalSoldier
FaithEtRatio 1 month ago
@FaithEtRatio God only has ONE church, sacraments made by schismatics and heretics are not effective.
PapalSoldier 1 month ago
@PapalSoldier
FaithEtRatio 1 month ago
@FaithEtRatio I well aware what Donatism is, I'm simply saying that sacraments from heretical and schismatic sects are not effective.
"I think it is my duty to consult the chair of Peter, and to turn to a church (Rome) whose faith has been praised by Paul. I appeal for spiritual food to the church whence I have received the garb of Christ." St. Jerome,To Pope Damasus "Letter 15," 376 A.D.
PapalSoldier 1 month ago
@PapalSoldier
FaithEtRatio 1 month ago
@FaithEtRatio God only has ONE Church, The Catholic Church, schismatics are broken branches. "I profess that outside the Catholic Church, no one is saved." Pope Sylvester II, A.D. 999-1003
St. Bonaventure ( A.D. 1274): The sacraments may be conferred by either the good or the wicked, the faithful or the heretical, within the Church or outside it: but within the Church, they are conferred both in fact and in effect, while outside it, although conferred in fact, they are not effective.
PapalSoldier 1 month ago
@PapalSoldier
That is a beautiful quotation by St. Bonaventure.. but what do they not effect? We believe they are valid, and we know that there are illicit masses within the Catholic Church, and yet the sacraments are still effective for the reception of grace.

"Your grace must be besought not to permit any disturbance of the Roman Church, the head of the whole Roman World and of the most holy faith of the Apostles, for from thence flow out to all(churches) the bonds of sacred communion." St.Ambrose,To Emperor Gratian (A.D. 381)

@PapalSoldier
FaithEtRatio 1 month ago
@FaithEtRatio according to you, one can memorize the words of a heretical or schismatic priest not in Union with Rome, say the words and it's consecrated. Are you rejecting the Catholic Dogma, No salvation outside The Church?
PapalSoldier 1 month ago
@PapalSoldier
Not at all. Consecration requires a validly ordained priest, the words of consecration, and the proper matter (bread and wine). This is what the Church has always taught. It is no rejection of any doctrine and does not speak about salvation. You don't have to disparage the Eucharist just to defend No Salvation outside of the Church.
FaithEtRatio 1 month ago
@FaithEtRatio You still don't understand, after the Greek heretics started the "orthodox" sect in 1054, it is forbidden by the way they ordain in canon 3 of the 7th Ecumenical council. God is ONLY with His Church.
PapalSoldier 1 month ago
@PapalSoldier
FaithEtRatio 1 month ago
@FaithEtRatio V2 was not an ecumenical council, was not infallible nor was it meant to be, all schismatics and heretics are under anathema.

PapalSoldier 1 month ago
@PapalSoldier
How true! But they still retain valid orders, and therefore you should not blaspheme the sacred Host in the schismatic churches.
FaithEtRatio 1 month ago
@FaithEtRatio Heretics and schismatics DO NOT have "valid orders" St.Thomas and St.Bonaventure disagree with you. Every Eucharistic miracle was in a Catholic Church. Unless they rejoin The Church, and learn they information they missed since 1054, they are all hellbound.
PapalSoldier 1 month ago
@PapalSoldier
FaithEtRatio 1 month ago
@FaithEtRatio "Pope" Benedict was also praying with Lutheran female pastors and in synagogues, i'm pretty sure you would say they have true worship also right? It's ironic how you say they have valid sacraments, yet there is no salvation outside The Church, so much for sacraments being valid. God has ONE Church. Built upon One Rock.
PapalSoldier 1 month ago
@PapalSoldier
