i can't wait for the eng. translation to be complete! i've been wanting to play this since i heard of EB2 a few years back, and Lucas being announced to brawl just made matters worse for me. i grew up with my SNES, earthbound and Pokemon. my 2 fave franchises, its just too bad Nintendo is alienating (haha, irony) the EB franchise from the gamers of today, all because NoA didn't sell well with EB on SNES.
I could go on and on about this controversy, but im going to put it at a halt for now.
The DS doesn't need a GBA emulator because it can play GBA games natively. You just need a flash cart in the GBA slot to engage GBA mode (after you get things set up on your main card, if the DS slot houses your primary homebrew solution—if your GBA slot is your primary homebrew-cart slot, then you're golden).

well for Story Wise I kno, but I spoiled it already by looking through the storied before i got the game (whooops) I decided to the 2 and 3 first, and then the original MOTHER...the only thing I dont like about MOTHER 3 was that PK Shield and PSI Shield were totally nerfed. that and i wasnt to happy on how they organized the PSI powers either. I liked the way it was in MOTHER 2, but thats it.
What do you mean by nerfed? And I don't think that the way the PSI powers are arranged are that bad. But in Mother 2, you couldn't have more than 3 PSI powers in one box.
I might have ti make multiple comments. In MOTHER 2, PK Shield Alpha and Sigma would absorb all physical damage. Beta and Omega Class would absorb all physical damage and send it back to the enemies. same thing applies for PSI Shield. In MOTHER 3, u and and yur allies still get damaged, no matter which one. I also found it weird that they divided the absorbing and reflecting versions of PK Shield and PSI Shield from each other.
In MOTHER 2, u also didnt have to scroll down as much for a PSI technique like u do in MOTHER 3. it was rather choose a power then choose which class u want on the side.
Congrats to u guys (^^)v...however I think Im gonna have to just keeping my MOTHER 3 in Japanese (dont kno how to install the patch and I'm really afraid that if i did...I would ruin my game or something) thank u regardless though (^^)v
If you have the Homebrew Channel and install an app for the Visual Boy Advance, then yes it can, but over the Wii Shop Channel, you are correct. It cannot emulate GBA.

I think I know the answer to whats going on. Earthbound has not been released in the US OR Japan and niether has Mother. Also Nintedo knows about this operation. My conclusion is that Nintendo isn't going to release it on the VC because "Why release the same game twice?" I think that Nintendo hasn't shut the project down because they want to negotiate with starmen to get the translation for their own use. Someone from Nintedo has probably been monotoring it. Thats just my opinion.
Every game in the Mother series HAS been released in Japan. And every game on the Virtual Console HAS been already released (not always in that country, but you get the idea). Earthbound IS Mother 2, so I think that's the error you made.
And no, they can't use fan-made material even if we offered it to them. Nintendo just wants to ignore Earthbound, likely because its initial poor (only because of their bad planning IMO) sales and because they focus on the casual crowd now.
No I what I meant was that Mother and Mother2/Earthbound have not been released on the VC in Japan. I checked. Also Nintendo can do whatever they want with the translation. They have the influence of money and the lawsuit hammer. An IGN writer said that Nintendo knows about the translation. Thats how I came up with that theory. It's also just my opinion. We have no idea of what could really be going on right now.
The SNES was cool like 10 years ago dude so its not likely that many people still play it although some still do. Mother and Mother2 haven't been released in Japan since the early GBA days and have NOT been released on the VC in ANY country. When I speak of Earthbound I also mean Mother2 because they are the same game. I speak of Mother as Mother and Mother3 as Mother3.
Will you guys have any alternative download methods like torrent because i think there will be a very low bandwidth with all us fans going crazy with Mother 3 and trying to download this patch all at once.
I think of it as hippie music, though it's technically old school rock and roll, Elvis style. =D Look up "Mother 3 Spicy" on Youtube. You'll hear the spicy version of that tune. You're hearing the mild version in the beginning of the video.

There is a patching tool that comes with the patch, since it it .UPS and not .IPS, you need to use the tool provided.

And no, they can't use fan-made material even if we offered it to them. Nintendo just wants to ignore Earthbound, likely because its initial poor (only because of their bad planning IMO) sales and because they focus on the casual crowd now.

No I what I meant was that Mother and Mother2/Earthbound have not been released on the VC in Japan. I checked. Also Nintendo can do whatever they want with the translation. They have the influence of money and the lawsuit hammer. An IGN writer said that Nintendo knows about the translation. Thats how I came up with that theory. It's also just my opinion. We have no idea of what could really be going on right now.

u sure u got ur facts straight?
1. earthbound is mother in japan.
2. earhbound was alrdy released for SNES or something.
3. Mother 3 was only released in japan,
that why many people in the US want it so bad.
4. the creator Reggie wants to act like a deaf person and not listen to the fans about puting earthbound for the VC.
5. these ppl at the translation site want to help all these fans with playing Mother 3 in english to forget about dumb Reggie.

CORRECTION: Earthbound is Mother2 in Japan.
The SNES was cool like 10 years ago dude so its not likely that many people still play it although some still do. Mother and Mother2 haven't been released in Japan since the early GBA days and have NOT been released on the VC in ANY country. When I speak of Earthbound I also mean Mother2 because they are the same game. I speak of Mother as Mother and Mother3 as Mother3.

I think of it as hippie music, though it's technically old school rock and roll, Elvis style. =D Look up "Mother 3 Spicy" on Youtube. You'll hear the spicy version of that tune. You're hearing the mild version in the beginning of the video.

Why is everyone rating you down? Nintendo obviously doesn't care about it's fans anymore after all this bullshit that's going on. Their new moto should be, "We always make the most amount of money out of the least amount of effort!" Don't believe me, why don't you watch the E3 confrence on a video and they'll have a game called Wii Music where all you do is bash on buttons (the creator said it himself).

Yeah and that's pretty damn sad. I mean, with all these remakes and just plain shitty games you'd think that they'd realize something. That's not even it, Nintendo ignores it's fans completely. I heard two guys got blocked from emailing them because they asked for something out of the Mohter series.
