My dad has suffered and beat prostate cancer, my cousin is suffering stage 4 testicular cancer, and my grandma has suffered breast cancer. Let those that want, make short films.

You can have someone helping to teach them how to use iMovie or FinalCut and how to compose a shot with a camera.

I believe that being able to have a hands on opportunity to create a work of art, to create a film, to create something that you thought up is the best way to lift the spirit.

I've helped several people learn the above and in the end it's always a positive result.

P.S.A place for families travelling to Toronto for treatment to stay is an incredible idea, it's a 12-13hr drive from Manitouwadge - Toronto and many who need to make the drive for special cancer treatments do not have funds left at the end of the day for accomodations.

I think the stations idea is good, like mossavmik said.

There should be a "Dream" station for ideas, a "Love" section for support and a station people can stay at (incorporating Rob's idea), a "Cure" section for Like a mini shop for merch...

...Rob's idea really is amazing (then again, he is as a whole). There should also be like a little 'hotel' kind of thing for young people who are going through cancer and while they get treatment at a local Toronto hospital they have like a cheap place to stay that has something with a house feel.

"Cure" can be a place where members of the S4C team can educate people about how to prevent certain cancers. Anybody who has knowledge of any cancer can come by and talk. Also to teach anybody how to life a healthy life and what's good for your system as in food, not smoking, not to use tanning beds etc.

3 - It'd also be awesome if the centre could host a special evening for a patient - a gathering of friends and family and others with stories of hope to help prepare that person for treatment and make them feel extra special and loved.

Of course, a built-in skatepark would also be a dandy idea, haha.

2 - It would be neat to organize more some formal cancer-related events in addition to the usual casual drop-in environment - perhaps sort of AA meeting style? ("I'm Evelynne and I'm a survivor!") I really like the idea of making it a place for families to stay too; there's all kinds of things the centre could do to make that stay a positive, inspirational experience completely personal to the family.

If the drop-in centre were to double as an occasional small music venue, a lot more folks who wouldn't necessarily make an effort to visit would be exposed to information about cancer prevention and whatnot. Selling tickets to events at the centre could help raise money as well.
