WTF?! Who are those morons, applauding after some dickhead has blown an engine? Wow, what a performance, hail to thee, master of senseless destruction...
" What happens when redline a VW engine for over 10mins?? " NOTHING !!! what should happen ? its a VW ! no shitty Jap rice burner... do that to a honda and show will be much more interesting and ending a lot faster
they (and you i guess..) really watched ten minutes of this? over ten minutes?? and its fixed so you can see it again? did you pay to see this? yes its pretty simple video but still theres so much id like to ask..
@deemoIII I take that "unnamed" 4.6, tweak it to produce the same numbers as the BMW, then put it into a BMW chassis, it'll produce a lower 0-62/0-100km simply because it would then produce far more torque.
Your comparison is somewhat laughable, simply in that the chassis in question were left out (engines can't accelerate without a chassis) and the German motor needs significantly more expensive maintenance, (let's leave out BMW omitting a dipstick these years).
@deemoIII tbh bmw v8's are really temperamental what with headgasket failures, timing chain stretch etc etc the american v8's are much stronger and robust.after all they have been using them forever
it just stopped, after it cool comes back to work perfectly again! Hou do i know that? I did it myself with my wv, and with my motorcycle Rx-125 yamaha 2 time engine.
It get weak, smokes, but after cool down its just like new again.
do that while in the car and watch that magnesium block burn to the ground seen it happen many times it happens before it seizes in most cases, there was no stress on this motor other than itself. this test is not real world application unless to show a crowd that the engine will rev till it blows a rod then rebuild it and do it again like every other engine the reason its cheap to rebuild is because vw engines were not that popular back in those days and still today parts are easy to find cheap
the stock connecting rods are a very high quality forged steel and capable of supporting something like 4 times the original HP (w / stock hardware ) and at higher RPMs than this stock engine could reach. The small single valve springs will float and limit the RPM (or break). Probably overheated and seized the cylinders.
K, It's air cooled DUH! Under normal conditions the car would be moving and have cool air flowing past it....not sitting in the bed of a truck blocking even a breeze. Good little motor :D
Why can't people do an additive test instead of just blow up an old engine. At least we could see if those things work for real. I'd be glad to buy a bottle or two of Duralube or Prolong or Slick-50 for anyone looking to blow up an engine, and have them post a video of it here.
@Fabscher19 possibly. those "trabbits" were made in the usa in pennsylvania. they were literately garbaged out and made cheaper suspension wise and interior wise so the americans would like them in comparison to the inferior cars built in the united states. hard to say about the engine , could be german, or mexican, still better than usa - sad but true
That's pretty impressive, really. Don't those engines have a redline of 4500-5000 rpm?
Probably with a larger oil cooler it'd have lasted longer before it siezed up. But then again, you'd be betting odds against spinning a bearing or fracturing one or more rings in either case.
i find it amazing how ignorant people are about these engines, no they dont need a sealed engine compartment to run properly and no it did not over heat from not getting any fresh air over the fins and yes they do make rev limiters for these carbuerated engines, it simply over heated running it at red line too long and the oil got too hot and broke down... and like someone else said, let it cool down 9 times out of 10 it will start right back up!...
Ganz toll!
I've done this. the funny thing is its not dead! they'll start again after they cool down. If you get those magnesium alloy engines hot enough the metal itself will ignite
instead of trying to kill engines and then repair them(wasting 2 min of peoples time by putting it on here), why dont you invest in a tripod for your camera, or some pills to steady your hand?
yes we do have them here in the US, i just figured it was a worldwide thing like aussie red necks, japaneese red necks and so on...i need to get out of my trailer more...ol mick dundee wasnt he a redneck?
put a stinger on it and those lil luffewaffles can take a beating i know of one that i ttok apart had barely ne material around no4 cylinders exhaust valve ran good actualy sounded throaty lol

@elb416ebs380 ill give you an example why German cars differ from others, not gonna name names but here:
-Unamed 4.6L V8
-315hp & 325ft lb
-0-60 in 5sec
in comparison with:
-BMW 4.0L V8
-420hp & 300ft lb
-0-60 in 4.9sec
do you get what im talkin 'bout?

@deemoIII best comparison -
