Nader is an amazing man and a great man. The thing that I disagree with him about is that legislation seems to be the default solution for him when many of the outcomes he seeks could be realized without the force of law.
Doctors have the right to practice medicine without insurance company capitalists. Today doctors lie to insurance companies by exaggerating illnesses so patients can get the health care that they need. Private property is not the basis of freedom. Freedom is being able to choose the life you want to live without intimidation by tyrants whether they are theocrats, businessmen, militarists, or secret police etc. Private property plays no role in the equation.
@tonyteb no, the fact that he's not an ideologue like ron paul. both of them address the issues but i think nader provides practical ways to solve the problems. and nader can always back up his opinions with actual evidence. whereas ron paul often seems to stick to his same conservative talking points: free markets, non-intervention, states' rights, etc.

@ProjektLament...It's morally irresponsibe and irreprensible for a country NOT to take care of its citizens. Fortunately, not being American, I could never understand your hateful, disgustingly, selfish viewpoint. What a pity for your country (and the world) that there are not more people like Ralph Nadar, telling it as it is.
I believe in freedom and individualism. I believe it is morally degenerate to take from your neighbor to better take care of yourself. Health care, food, housing, etc are all commodities not rights. To call them rights is to say you have claim to what someone else earns with his or her own two hands. No sir, theft is morally wrong whether done for duty, profit, or fun. In our country we have a constitution and no where does it say the government will take from Peter to pay Paul
You're a total retard who knows nothing about history, philosophy, or law. I hope one day you will be in a concentration camp somewhere so you can ponder the value of a social contract.
I suggest you read our constitution and read the enumerated powers. That is all our government is supposed to do. I think its fortunate youre not American too, as you know nothing about what is moral and what is not. And you want a government to babysit you from craddle to grave at the expense of your countrymen. Most likely you are from a country with a crap health care system that is bankrupting your country.
Again you prove your ignorance of history. According to predominate theory the so called "native Americans" came from Asia. Now if they came from Asia they aren't exactly native now are they. And if you knew anything about argumentation you would know that just because someone owns a slave doesn't mean the product of their intellect is flawed. I doubt u ever read the constitution but its principles and limits that r laid down. THey are timeless as rights are timeless.
I suggest you fuck off,you Nazi. I am delighted you live there and can only hope you or someoneose gets really sick and you get screwed by your health insurance company. You're calling me a Nazi? haha The Nazis were SOCIALISTS you retard. You want to force the government into markets, limit peoples choices, and take their money in taxes in order to give it to others and you call me a NAZI? Hospitals do not turn anyone down here even if they can't pay. So no one dies due to that. Unlike in England when the gov can't afford to give everyone the best meds so some people have to die. You don't have gun crime but you have knife crime and more theft and pickpocketin
The Nazis were socialists, what class of dickhead are you? Just because the word socialism was in their name. The came to power mainly because of the catastrophe caused by the contrived Wall st crash (Jewish bankers) They were democratically elected and burned down the Reichstag and screamed terrorism. This gave them the excuse to pass a law giving them total power, to restrict freedoms etc. Ring a bell asshole? 9/11?Gulf of Tonkin ? Pickpocketing? Do you read the shit you write before posting?
You just assume I'm arrogant because of your prejudice and the fact that Europe freakin worships all things American. Just because we have a national debt doesn't prove your point or disprove mine, you twit. The fact is our debt is mostly due (besides war and bank bailouts) to welfare programs, food stamps, medicare, medicaid, and social security. The exact things I'm preaching against. Also we bail out european banks as well, you knob.
Listen sham, you assume too much and know so little. Your national debt is due to the fact that your congress allowed the creation of the fed which loans your government the money it needs to start wars under the guise of liberating those living under tyranny. Again I say check your facts before you display your lack of knowledge. It's fairly fucking easy to do even for a twat like you. If you think Europeans idolize Americans, you are sorely deluded. The total opposite is true, you're laughabl
So by your logic if there wasn't a fed there would be no debt. However, the opposite is true. We had plenty of debt before the fed as well as after. And yes the national debt is comprised of a lot of military spending--which I do not agree with-- but if you end the wars you can end the spending. Its much harder to end the welfare state which is why i said it 'MOSTLY' contributes to our debt. Are you sure you can read, Didlo Baggins?
The vampires at Goldman Sachs & other Wall St. firms not only bled us of the bail out money, now they are getting first dibs on the H1N1 vaccine. Arrrrgggghhhh!!!
No they die because the government decides who gets breast cancer medicine and who doesn't. Or they die because they had to wait forever to get help. He is one sided in his beliefs and there is no occupied territory in Israel. The lands were taken by force from the israelis in 48' when 5 arab countries attacked. The Jews merely took the land back when "palestinians" started firing rockets at school buses.
Are you for real? Read the fucking history of the Israeli "state" will you? 10 mins on wikipedia before you leave these inane remarks. You will find it was a plan by a couple of Englishmen and Zionists, and was a big land grab, a disgrace and your country is gulity of more terrorism than any Palestinian.
WHose history are you reading, an arabs? Oh you think wikipedia is an academic source? hahaha you poor poor fool. Theres a little thing called the Torah. Its the foundation of a 4000 year old religion, the basis of a 2000 year old religion, and a 1500 year old religion. That book clearly lays out that long before Zionist and the existence of Englishmen there was a Jewish kingdom. Never has there not been a Jewish presence in Israel. It was taken from them by force they took it back.
you are a hateful prick, do you know that. Cheers for giving me an outlet and reminding me of how lucky i am not to live on the same continent as you uneducated, sub-standard, ill-mannered yokels. I bet you don't even travel out of your state, let alone own a passport. Punto final capullo
I am hateful because I state the facts? You are a seriously deluded individual. Don't call us ill-mannered yokels when you can't even carry a debate without resulting to play ground language and think wikipedia is an academic source. I've been to 46 states and 3 countries, but i have to say that no where in my travels did I meet anyone as dumb as yourself. Maybe its because I didn't go South of the border.
Or give half your country back to the Mexicans? Hell, just get the fuck out and leave it to the indigenous tribes you stole it from. The creation of the Israeli state is a disgrace. I hope someone fucks you out of your hovel and moves a load of religious nuts in there, oh I forgot! That's already happened.
My country never belonged to Mexicans. Mexico laid a flag in California in the 1800's and called it there's. If you think that's all it takes then India belongs to England. The indians (indians because they are not native to America) in the 1800's far outnumbered the mexicans so by that standard it still wouldn't belong to mexico, and if might makes right the mexicans tucked tailed and ran every time they saw an American soldier so by that standard Mexico fails again.
so when you find out how and when mexico owned/ruled half of my country you let me know. If it was possible you could do such a task you would do so in English with the technology that is a product of Anglo/ capitalistic culture which speaks for itself. Have fun with your pinata, dicky
Someone Spanish is talking to me about religious nuts?! HAHAHA Whether you are Spanish or some aboriginal from South America you are far more guilty of religious craziness than me and mine. Lets see you had the cannibalistic baby killing Incas, the blood thirsty Mexicas, and on and on. Then the Spanish and the Portuguese lead brutal conversion campaigns along with the Spanish Inquisition. And you want to give this country back to that?! haha you're even more insane than I thought.

Yeah they get it, and now they cant afford and the socialists in germany are getting voted out in favor of lower taxes, free'r markets, and more freedom. Nader has some good ideas, but he is an economic retard and does not comprehend the philosophy of freedom and free market. people still come to the US for the best medical service and Canada has 800 billion in debt. His philosophy is to fix government whilst allowing it to have its current powers. Impossible. The role gov must be reduced.
No one is turned away from receiving medical care, not even illegals. A very simplistic response from a very simplistic person. People will be turned away when the government tells us who gets to receive treatment and who doesn't.. This system needs to be fixed, but government isn't going to fix it, and you are naive if you think it will. VERY naive.
No one is turned away for emergency care but for anything else, it's a different story. If I'm rushed to hospital with chest pains, they'll treat me for my heart attack but If my doctor finds a mass in my lung, I'll have to discuss treatment options and payment..so if I'm not poor enough to have medicaid but poor enough or overweight enough that I can't afford private insurance, then I will die without receiving that operation. .
As it is, people are turned away from preventative care because they can't afford it, others are being turned away by the insurance they have paid for years because their illness is not specified in their coverage..Most clinics and doctors don't offer payment plans so people miss crucial yearly exams that can prevent or diagnose disease. Reform doesn't take anything away from those who can afford their insurance and offers a chance at good health to those who can't afford insurance. Y the fear?
The fear is that a free market cannot work when government gets involved. It causes prices to sky rocket. Granted the free market cannot work when the health insurance gets write legislation either. The fear is not just fear but the realization that this country CANNOT afford health care. Maybe you should research more about free markets and what happens when a country goes broke. Then you might understand that there is something far worse than expensive health care.
There is something worse than expensive health care: spending trillions of dollars on a meaningless "war" and slowly bankrupting our nation...that is more of a threat to our democracy than anything else...
You won't find any argument from me on that. That we are in agreement of. But that is not the subject at hand. Health care is. Instead of focusing on health care you should read about the evils of central banking. if you get that in control the wars will stop, our currency will become stable, and our economy will improve. That will help people be able to afford health care. In the end no one should be forced to pay for someone elses health care. Its morally degenerate.
But our tax dollars pay for the uninsured when they go to the ER and we all pay for a number of things needed for the greater good (schools, roads, etc) even if some of us don't have kids or don't drive or whatever, so it's not like everyone pays their own way as it is--that's impossible--at some point as a society we all have to contribute to the pool even if only some of us reap the benefits. So why shouldn't health care be added to that pool?
and I mentioned the "War" because it seems that those who are against health care reform for economic reasons, always fail to cite the outrageous cost this "war" has had on this country's economy and morale. And no one mentions how the economic collapse has been fueled in part by insured and uninsured people going bankrupt paying medical bills. Not helping Americans stay healthy and productive, as health care reform would, is the final nail in the coffin for this country. Nevermind socialism.
The economic collapse has about as much to do with health care and the uninsured as CO2 does to heating the Earth...i.e. very little. The economic collapse is due to the federal reserve's reckless monetary policies, government entitlement programs (food stamps, welfare, etc), and massive taxation. Read Ludwig von Mises if you want to understand this world better.
Giving single sentence accusations displays that you have thought about this subject far less than I have. Most likely you feel about the subject and not think. My ideas are an attempt to protect many of my foolish countrymen from themselves and their inability to see the consequences of their morally degenerate demands. No nation on Earth has yet to afford health care for their citizens, even with 90% tax rates.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Name me one country that doesn't have a massive debt due to its entitlement programs. England, France, Germany, Norway, Sweden, all spend beyond their GDP to provide their citizens with crap they can't afford. Just look at Germany's most recent election, socialism is in the decline because people realise there that its better to have free markets and freedom to keep your wages than to bankrupt your nation to provide for someone who doesn't want to work.
I wish I'd known he was in this area for this discussion -- I would have attended. I proudly voted for Nader and I will again if he decides to run again.
Nader is a fine and dedicated public, "professional" citizen. His grasp of how social change really works is spot on. He should be a national treasure, especially of the so-called, self-styled "left." Of course he isn't. Of course.
Aetna stated that they are proud because they have processed over 175 million claims this year alone. But they never mentioned how many of those where denied and paid by the actual member. I can assure you that about 87-89% if not more... are claims denied by Aetna and you had to pay. So in a way Mr. Ron Williams thanks you for paying his paycheck at your own expense.
The Public Option is not dead. 3 out of 4 bills being considered still include the public option. Please make your calls. If you need the numbers I have them on my profile. Be sure to check the comment section for petitions and other ways you can get involved. I even have 1-800 numbers for those who don't have long distance. Thank you.
Nader is an amazing man and a great man. The thing that I disagree with him about is that legislation seems to be the default solution for him when many of the outcomes he seeks could be realized without the force of law.

My ideas are an attempt to protect many of my foolish countrymen from themselves and their inability to see the consequences of their morally degenerate demands. No nation on Earth has yet to afford health care for their citizens, even with 90% tax rates.

You don't know what you're talking about.

Of course.

I think we should look at how lucky we are that Mr. Nader still has the strength to carry the battle of OUR rights on his shoulders.

@MoloBeer What right? The right to enslave a doctor to take care of you? How is that a right? The undermines the "rights" of the doctor.

We're screwed. Americans would let their mothers die of a heart attack because taking her to the ER would mean missing the big game.

The Public Option is not dead. 3 out of 4 bills being considered still include the public option. Please make your calls. If you need the numbers I have them on my profile. Be sure to check the comment section for petitions and other ways you can get involved. I even have 1-800 numbers for those who don't have long distance. Thank you.
