I like how the makers of stargate use the gun cocking sounds all the time. If real guards pulled the charging handles back as much as they do in stargate there would be no bullets left in the weapons.
@csrtitus It's really bad in the original movie. When Ra's ship lands on the Pyramid and the soldiers are investigating, the amount of gun cocking is ridiculous. They probably got captured because they didn't have any rounds left...
I think this is not just humor, it is a calculated move. Todd can not do anything in that situation. He was the one in danger not Sam, if she had even missed a step while he held her hand or shown any signs of discomfort at all, he would be shot dead, However he demonstrated that even in a cell, surrounded by guards, the leader of the Atlantis expedition was afraid of him. That showed him that despite him being in a cage, he had the upper hand. I am surprised Sam did not see that.

Usul the point is that while disguised as a joke, Todd do prove that he can intimidate Sam, even with him locked in a cage and under heave guard. In effect he wins, It is like if a Mob boss that liked to kill with poison was captured and jailed and offered you a cup of coffee in his cell, if you refused to drink it, then you would give the Mob boss power, as you still showed fear of him, even with him at a huge disadvantage. Same thing here.
