I think I will stick to a nice 15.6". My friend has a 17" and he has to roll it around in a omg-wtf-wideload-coming-through-suitcase and he kinda looks retarded do so. So yeah...
how does the dv7t compare to the dell xps. I know specifications are different, especially with both computers being customizable, but just in a general idea how do they compare?
@itsseanviva i am considering getting this laptop! i am a full-time college student and i am in need of a laptop especially since all of my courses are online. I need something dependable! Would you recommend this one? :)
@ashkatXO YES YES YES! This computer will blow your mind. I'm a freelance designer and Photoshop took 8 minutes to open on my previous PC with 4GB of ram. THIS COMPUTER took 3 seconds, YES 3 seconds to open Photoshop. GO FOR IT! QVC has it for 150.00 a MONTH for 6 months.
Could i get this laptop witht the free 8gb offer and all the other features offered on the HP website a t a store like Future shop or Best buy please respond THANKS!
@emeljipuroo u can if going to buy it, buy it from hp site and u could customize it if ur going to buy it also theres accessories so u can buy it with ear phones
A thorough review as usual for a capable system. I do wonder why hobble it with a big screen. Most people watch these screens in close proximity and one's eyes create a larger experience. This would be twice the computer with a smaller screen and when plugged in for a group, whatever LCD available would negate the need for a battery consuming larger screen. Mobile devices will outsell laptops in 2012. Smarter, smaller, entertainment laptops would seem a more competitive product to offer.
@JohnTheWudman i actually prefer a larger laptop screen and the extra few inches reduce the battery life by a very insignificant margin. but thats why HP offers this same laptop in 15 inches and even smaller laptops on their website so i'm not sure what the problem is
Just a quick update. You can do a custom build in case you want to upgrade some of the features mentioned in the article (like the display). Here are some upgrade ideas:
Full 1080p monitor = +$150
2GB Radeon 6770M = +$50
9 Cell Battery = $21
Bluetooth = $25
Backlit keyboard = n/a (boo.)
Still, this is one heck of a laptop. With all the discounts and free upgrades thrown in by HP, I would be hard pressed to build a desktop with the same features at this price point.

I have this, using it right now. The only thing it's missing is a backlit keyboard, if it had that it would be the perfect computer!

This is a good desktop replacement. Due to its size and relatively short battery life it would not be my "road warrior" selection.
