Not only bad ass playing, but some of the best surf video I've seen. Where is it and what video is it from? I'm thinking Maui, correct me if I'm wrong.
I always dug Ray Gomez...his sense of melody and phrasing are very cool, accessible, yet still "out there". If you like this tune, Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush's song "Tales of the Unexpected" is in a similar vein. My iPod is stuffed with music like this. Believe me, it never gets old.
GREAT ALBUM!.. RAY kills so does everybody else! The REAL story.. Sly Stone is the first guy to slap playing around with a bass. Larry loved the sound and put it in his playing. Doug Rauch taught Stanley how to slap..he even did it better but Stanley was a better sloist with more chops. Larry was the Strongest in power simplicity and groove.. You can disagree till the cows come home! All these guys were great! From the horses mouth. Enjoy it anyway1
12 Bars From Mars, features the incredible bass solo from a young, 17-year-old bassist named Marcus Miller, of course now THE ONE AND ONLY, marcus miller. 12 Bars From Mars, hopefully someone will post this one too. Thanks Mack48034 for recognizing a great piece of work. T.C.
This a really fantastic song, inspired playing. Maybe it's a bit over the top, a bit crazy, out of control, but hey, that's what made Ray Gomez so great.
One of the best albums ever produced.
