I'd like to know the name of the movie starting at 1:05... The one where she is wearing that blue outfit... if someone can help me, that would be great! :) Thanks in advance.
Yukari is still the best. Jeeja has promise to be a beast, but she isn't there yet. As far as female action heroes, this old era will probably never be topped.
One thing that slightly bugs me about these movies, especially the one with the car shop scene, is that it seems like everyone in China knows kung fu. While it's cool to watch, it seems like a bit of a stereotype. Just saying. Anyway, Yukari rocks, thumbs up if you agree.
Why can't Hong Kong action flicks goes back to the glory of the 80s or early 90s?? These action chicks despite of being an action star, their martial art techniques are beyond solid and intense! It seems the actresses are really fighting with absolutely no CGI effects! That's amazing. The fights look so real!
Yeeeaaah I love her...you gotta love her...look at her, so strong, handsome, sexy and such a brillant actor and martial artists....and she´s japanese ^^
I remember reading up on her when she was over in HK making movies. At the time she was not only the best of the female, but was surpassing Jackie Chan over in HK in movie popularity. She was just that big. It wasn't until several years later that I see why she was big. She's just that good. No female and a lot of men can't touch her ahead of her time skills. Better kicker than Jackie. The fight between her and Michiko is priceless. Another equal and underatted female martial artist.
Nobody will ever come close to Yukari Oshima. A Japanese woman, making kung fu movies in racist HK. I commend her. Her career should have ended in a better note.
Yukari is the Best Actress & Martial Artist in the HK Films. If she's work with Jackie Chan & Jet Li it would be interesting to see them work together. Hopefully to see Yukari in HK or Mainland China.
I noticed many questions on which the films, used by taopp in this EXCELLENT video are, and as a die-hard fan of the one and only Yukari Oshima, I put together a short list: 0.00-0.26 - Outlaw Brothers 0.27-0.47 - A Punch To Revenge 0.48-1.04 - Final Run 1.05-1.25 - Millionaires' Express 1.26-1.43 - A Book Of Heroes 1.44-1.52 - Kickboxer's Tears 1.53-2.08 - Final Run 2.09-2.16 - Outlaw Brothers 2.17-2.30 - A Punch To Revenge
I'm just finding all these bad ass chicks now!! I was too young to see them in their hayday, and now I'm sad that no one is taking their place for my generation. There needs to be a bad-ass bitch revival!!! Great Video!
Unfortunately, we are not going to see the type of actions that we've seen in the past unless we have actors and actresses willing to get HURT. Characters like Oshima and Rothrock were absolutely suicidal in their performance!
@weirdoweirdo heck she was even burnt but she held it in until the camera take was over when she filmed "The Story of Ricky". She was a true professional.
I wish she had been the one who portrayed Gogo Yugari in Kill Bill. She'd definitely kick ass. Why didn't hollywood hire her? She's a more authentic fighter than Michelle Yeoh.
Darn shame. No one left who can kick ass like Yukari and all the kung fu ladies of the 80s. And whos in the new Street Fighter flick? Kristin Kreuk as Chun Li. She appears to be so fragile and you can instantly see that she has ZERO martial arts skills.
Why are there no martial artists to ascend and replace their predecessors? Jackie Chan is getting, Rothrock, Norton, Summo, Biao, Wei aso all in retirement. It seems like hollywood doesn't want real fighters in front of the camera anymore.
So far Jeeja Yanin is the only female left whose willing to take a licking and keep on kicking in order to entertain us all. Like the early female predecessors from Hong Kong, she's not afraid of a few bumps and scrapes.
I really miss seeing Yukari, Moon, Michiko, Sharon and all of the other females from Asia who helped pioneer the girls with guns genre.
Fortunately there are guys like Michael Jai white, Scott Adkins, Tony jaa for men and Yanin Vismistananda for women that can still give us VERY good looking fights like the old days...
Millionaire's Express with Sammo Hung, Cynthia Rothrock,Yuen Biao...and other Martial Arts stars. This is one of my favorite Yukari Oshima flicks...she looks HOT as a ninja/samurai (and long hair)
I have never seen a female martial art start come close to Yukari. I loved her as a ninja in Millionaire Express. I also feel bad for her because you can tell by this montage of films that she took some really hard hits. HK really took advantage of her and has nothing to show for it
For jp3813 comment, Exactly! Hollywood wanted Jackie to be an invincible hero when Jackie just wanted to be a everyman. Look at Seagal movies, there's no real challenge for him because he "can't get hurt" and you know he'll win. Jackie and other hk action actors have always said they always have the hero being hurt because 1. It's more believable and 2. it makes their triumph in the end more likeable.
I wouldn't say that about Bruce Lee and Jet Li. Most of their characters are quite invincible. In fact, Bruce is the reason that American martial arts actors are presented as invincible on the screen.
I think the problem is that generic HK martial arts movies are never really that big and don't make a lot of money. When the glory days of the Martial Arts genre were over, so did the careers of many people in the business. Consider Yuen Biao, who is as talented as Jackie and Jet. Yet his fame comes largely from his earliest works. Lets not forget that only recently did hollywood start making high-budget movies that make use of Martial Arts and choreography.
You know after The Karate Kid came out, American audiences became interested again in martial arts. But instead of letting Jackie pave the way for his fellow martial artists, Hollywood instead decided to change his style (ex: The Protector). As a result, Hollwood's martial arts stars became Van Damme and Seagal. Once Jackie broke through in the 90's w/ his style, the glory days were over.
I've followed her films for years, since I was in college. It's great to know she's known by so many, but she and Moon Lee are two of the most unsung legends as far as the Hong Kong movie industry goes...otherwise, Yukari and Moon would be as well-known as Jackie Chan and Jet Li. Thanks for this!
Yukari fighting in a punch to revenge where she's got a tracksuit on was COOL!! I had no idea how many films she'd made, first heard of here from Millionaires express, She must have been absolutely bombarded with requests after that to be the heroine of soo many action movies. I agree that she's beautiful. I think the reason they criticize her is because she doesn't have a cute innocent face. Her face is kinda mature and hard which I guess is not what they want. Which is messed up because Yukari is such a good martial artist and she's beautiful.
Yukari never really got the recognition she deserved. She was way better than the other GWG girls. I think if she weren't Japanese she'd have gotten a lot more famous.
I agree with you completely. She is so fast, and agile. I like Cynthia Khan, but it's almost painful to think how much more awesome the "In The Line of Duty" movies would have been if they'd cast Yukari instead.

I can't believed that Yukari Oshima (Cynthia Wang) is the farrahcat in the Bioman, because of her acrobatic and elastic body. Vic Sotto is her partner in Ones upon a time in manila.
Well, it seems I'm not allowed to post Bioman links here. But it's really easy to search. Just type "Bioman episode 6" and you'll find two halves of the episode in which Yukari fights one of the main characters.
