  • Thanks for this, so beautiful. But please...add an I..it's supposed to be "What'll I Do."

  • @kjwhiteh haha, I got here along a playlist and I'm thinking, I've never heard "what'll do", first chord, I knew it - ahhhhhhhhhhhhh, ain't it nice?

  • What a singer...what a song...what memories.

  • A beutiful woman with a voice I could listen to all night.

  • Beautiful voice...a gorgeous singer....i love it!;) it makes me feel...

  • 1 of my favourite songs

  • Gorgeous isn't strong enough for this.

    Goodness gracious.

  • I can't even say how I feel this is the most heartbreaking song ever written, if only because this performance truly exemplified the pain being felt... more incredible than some listeners could EVER know - all I know is this performance of the song could never ever be duplicated... should it be tried, it will fail. truly, simply, absolutely pure and beautiful.

  • perfect song. simple and beautiful.

  • Julie London-who to compare? Madonna? only if she is the real mother of Christ-not

  • Whenever I may listen to what'll i do-Julie London, I really enjoy a grown-up taste and a singer very good at a song.

It is a very wonderful thing we could listen to her it and a sight appears.and sparkling with us.

  • Magic, absolute magic!

  • so pleased you liked it

and your right in what you say about Julie London

    many thanks

    TC

  • @tomcat1234beale pure sultry jazz no one can touch the range

  • @zehndogger64 not sure about no one can touch - but imagine a duet, Julie London and George Benson???

  • There never was ,and there is not now a "second JL" ,so sexy without ever beeing vulgar.thank you for posting another gem.

  • Ebert posted this on his twitter. Warned not to listen if you are not with the one you love. I ignored his warning, and listened anyway....and though the song makes my heart ache...i don't regret listening. :)

  • I have this song as a solo but it's shortened the lyrics

"what'll I do when you are far away and I am blue .... what'll I do

When Im alone with only dreams of you...that won't come true....What'll I do?

    What I do-oooo?

  • This is the first time I've heard Julie do this song, as always she does a great job. I could listen to her for hours on end.

  • oh i have been on the search for this one... bless you mate, thanks heaps for the upload!

  • Not to pick away at a fine point, however, you might want to add an "I" between 'What'll" and "do" so, the title reads correctly —I guess, if you wanted to get real grammatically nit-picky you could add the question mark —"What'll I Do?" —Thanks for posting —Can't get enough of Julie!...

  • Julie London is one of the great singers....she reminds me of a sweet and sultry saxaphone....

  • Her voice is velvety smooth.

  • This is my favorite version of this song.

  • Thank you, TomCat, for posting this particularly evocative rendition of the Berlin classic. Of the many offerings of this song, I think Julie London's version is the most beautiful of those by a female singer. Thanks for sharing.

  • Thank you for posting this particularly beautiful version of this Berlin classic. Makes me appreciate Julie London even more than I have in the past. Her interpretation has to be one of the greatest.

  • What an incredible beautiful woman. Incredible voice. Incredible talent. Bet when she walked on stage to sing everyone else's confidence level went down quickly. Anyone would be hard pressed to out shine her!

  • Youtube is good for being able to listen to several different versions of the same classic song. I've prob heard 6 or 7 'What'll I Do's' over the last few hours...

Some of the 'filigree' from the guitar here seemed to me mildly distracting at a couple of points, didn't really help the song. But small complaints aside I liked this one a lot.

" What'll I Do-The Great Gatsby (Song Written by Irving Berlin 1923) " another favorite

  • Julie knew how to work it!

I wish she would have sung longer in her life.

She was very insecure with her singing during her middle age.

Julie London made her mark in so many ways. Great gal!

  • one of the most haunting versions i have ever heard...thank you for recording it for us

  • Beautiful and haunting, great cut!

  • her's & Linda Ronstadts' versions are the best!!

  • Very nice, simple treatment of this classic standard.

  • This is just great.

  • first time listening to her. nice.

  • I agree with most everyone - what an awesome talent - one of the greats!

  • What'll do JULIE LONDON very nice Thanks so much updating from Japan.

  • she keeps it so simple, which makes it so lovely to listen to and relaxing. It's amazing she never veers off the melody when accompanied by only a guitar.

  • Me too,never even heard of her.Just loved the pic.Now I'm a fan!

  • That's the first time I've listened to Julie London. Lovely. Thanks for posting.

  • thank you so much, such a refined version of the wonderful song created by Berlin, her voice is extraordinary, great admirer I raise my hat

  • Beautiful delivery of a beautiful song by Julie London. A wonderfully touching listening experience -- Thank you for sharing .

  • WOW...i love the way this song is sung by this woman. I had never heard of her before until right now. She sings this song wonderfully. I can't help but be in awe of such beauty and talent. Thanks for the great post the song just makes my heart melt.

  • You should check out her song "cry me a river" as well. Julie London was an absolutely lovely singer.

  • The real measure of a good singer is to stay on pitch with songs written in a difficult key such as this one. Julie once again illustrates how rare and wonderful her talent truly was.

  • This wide eyed beauty with her smooth, sultry voice will forever remain as my all time female singer. Her rendition of Irving Berlin's "What'll I Do" accompanied only by a guitar, proves why she was recognized as one the top vocal queens in the 1950's
