  • And Le Terrible Trombones!!!

  • Oh My God... The Terrible Percussion!!!

  • WE GET TO PLAY THIS IN BAND THIS YEAR!!! OH MY GOSH, IM PUMPED :D !!!

  • i ONLY came here because of V for Vendetta. I would never even have heard of this piece if it hadnt been for the movie. Being dumbass and not knowing about real music i have to depend on movies to get to know classical music. But now im going back to listening to pop and the other "stupid" music 95% of teens listen to today. Dont let the spirit of uneducation die)

  • I've been looking for this song and finally found it

  • @AragonNotTheDragon01 same here

  • Being intelligent and knowing about real music brought me here. Not a movie.

  • why does this sound so much better than when my orchestra does it?

  • That oboe solo... :'o

  • fuck the king's speech

  • @PeppermintDeodorant THAT WAS A GOOOD MOVIE!

  • Risk 2 brought me here :P

  • 36 people are boring and dead inside! FACT!

  • RYNO V brought me here.

  • ¡Me encanta la música clásica desde hace mucho! No solo por "V" o por el "Discurso del Rey"!

  • @cactusmilo918 he dicho :)

  • Tchaikovsky's talent and geniality brought me here...

  • the 35 thumbs down are french

  • @Lenangreal why?

  • Who the hell sneezed?

  • Comment removed

  • Hot chicks in orchestras are wicked hot.

  • Great music. Classic!!!

  • 35 Pessoas não sabem apreciar boa música.

  • @Ann5160 de fato, meu caro...

  • @JoaoPedroGC É "minha cara". Meu nome é Ana.

  • @Ann5160 Desculpa, nem prestei atenção no nome. Estava hipnotizado pela bela música, Ana. :)

A Marcha Fúnebre?

  • I saw the CSO play this live, with cannons, the past summer..and it was nowhere near as expressive as this.

  • i like

  • Thank you very much. What a warm lovely sound the Hallé makes. Dear old Sir John Barbarolli would be delighted the orchestra he created is still the best. Leonard Bernstein what a piece needs above all is melody, and Tchaikovsky new all about that.

  • DAMNIT! My speakers can only go so loud D:

  • @Ratty186 I highly recommend a pair of headphones. Some of the best are made by a company called Sennheiser. Buy yourself a pair, even the lower end models will probably change your life's appreciation for la musica.

  • @87325 it was a joke haha i have a pair of nice headphones

  • Amazing, simply Amazing!

  • Blocklands Ryno V brought me here

  • Of course the conductor's batshit insane, accept no substitutes.

  • Oh Tchaikovsky, I love you so.

  • sorta reminds me of the Band of Brothers theme

  • this performace is perfect, almost like the performance i saw when i was in the 6th grade.

the first time i heard this song was when i was 11 years old. this the hungarian dance

my first concert during a music class fild trip. compared to the music that i was playing at the time i was in shell shock. i had no idea people could be that good in a perfromance.

  • Thumbs up if this song brought you to V for Vendetta.

(Don't actually thumbs up, but I inverted what people said earlier. See what I did there?)

  • achoo!

  • Damn the fellow who sneezed at :50

  • @mrwumpus dude I laughed my ass off at that

  • V for Vendetta is good, but the finale to 1812 is nothing compared to the 1812 overture in all its glory. The cello quartet opening is beautiful, the string runs are amazing, the horn fanfares are essential, the woodwinds add good suspense, and it all combines in a glorious piece that includes an amazing finale with the well know percussion parts, but the piece isn't the same without the first 10 minutes.

  • bless you

  • @the86thcreator i get a kick out of that every time i hear it :D

  • @Garfocusalternate

Yeah that happened to me too. I don't mind it, ponies tend to take me to great places on YouTube and this is, of course, no exception.

  • I've always enjoyed the opening of this piece much more than the (sadly) over-exploited finale.

  • Hehe

  • I dont like this interpretation at all. Felt like chased through this piece - no time for quiet and reserved parts. But probably I shouldnt expect that at the Proms. Nevertheless well played, just weakly interpreted.

  • @lemidi

I loved the ending... Otherwise I enjoyed this other interpretation done with real cannons by the Valley Forge Military Academy... Here it is: watch?v=lRpKmd3vjbk

  • @AngelixArch Honestly? Its even worse! How is it possible to run through this epic piece of art without having time for any tension? And in the end with firework, artificial cannons and military band... That is entertainment for - excuse me - simple-minded people without any classical claims.

Now I expect to attract the thumb-downs... :)

  • @lemidi

Perhaps the only reason I like it is for the vocals in the beginning... Otherwise this one is definitely better towards the end...

  • For idiots:

    Main theme starts at 3:30

  • @Nicked02 thanks

  • Isn't this the song that Mr.keating keeps whistling in "The Dead Poets Society"

  • normally I don't like Tchaikovsky's music but this is absolutely brillant

  • I love Tchaikovsky!

  • No neither "V for Vendetta" nor "The King's Speech" bought me here.

  • @TheBrownIntrovert A friend mentioning this overture brought back important memories for her was what brought me here. I knew the name was familiar to me, but I couldn't remember the melody attached to the name.

    XD

  • @TheBrownIntrovert Dude... you need to do something about your spelling situation.

  • @TheBrownIntrovert

You know what brought me here? An episode of Farscape, as sad as that sounds....... although to be honest I've been aware of this musical number's existence from childhood I haven't heard it in a long time.

  • @TheBrownIntrovert cool story bro

  • @TheBrownIntrovert Do you mean "Know neither V or the King's Speech brought me here?"

  • @viva9626 i think he/she simply meant "No, neither V for Vendetta nor The King's Speech brought me here." He/she just needed to add a coma.

  • @micaslopez123 and an 'r'

  • @TheBrownIntrovert Nor did the drd "1812" from Farscape bring me here.

  • @TheBrownIntrovert the ryno 5 did for me.

  • If you look carefully at 3:43 , you can spot a black person.

  • Beautiful cellos in the beginning! Tchaikovsky was a brilliant composer.

  • ab 3:30 gehts richtig ab! ;)

  • Was this overture ever played in france? :D

  • where can we find this performance - concert? has it been released as a DVD? thanks

  • for some reason i watched this along with modern warfare 3 black tuesday demo missions and it surprisingly went along very well

  • Ponies brought me here.

I have no idea how they did, but they did.

  • @garfocusalternate It's like a wikipedia game, but on youtube. You will always find your way to good music eventually :D.

  • @asdfuogh Nah, I'm just kidding. I found it fitting since everyone was saying how they got here.

I actually just really, really love this peice.

  • I like this very much

    Beautiful and Spectacular

  • I came here because i played this with my orchestra 4 years ago :)

  • I came here because it's a great fucking piece -_-

  • youtube brought me here.. hahaha! :)

  • I feel like I'm the only one that came here because of Dead Poets Society

  • Farscape brought me here, S4 E1

  • The finale just isn't the same without watching Parliament being blown to the sky. Damn you V for Vendetta.

  • @The4thSeraphim OMFG What Is With All The Nerds Obsessed About That Overrated Boring Movie It Sucked

  • @The4thSeraphim While movies capture our imagination, the real inspiration for the music is a lot more interesting.

  • Tchaikovsky has been used in at least 3 oscar nominated and winning films for 2010: The King´s Speech, Black Swan and Le concert! The last 2 could not have existed without the music, so it is kind of hard not to find someone who started listening because of a popular movie. Hell with it, I started liking classical music at a very young age because of Bugs Bunny!

  • @TheCapitalLetter Idgaf what brings anyone to this, as long as they make it here before they die they're life is a little better as a result :)

  • Music class brought me here XD.

  • Cough @0:49 KILLL HIMMM

  • O captain my captain - dead poets society

  • Thumbs up if ... wait ... I have a ... l i f e

  • Thumbs up if Tchaikovsky brought you here.

  • I stopped by to add to my two year old son's car playlist.. he will have violin lessons as soon as he turns three :)

  • I love V For Vendetta, I love The King's Speech, I love this song !

  • It doesn't matter wich movie brings you here and it doesn't matter what brings you here! It matters that you are here and you listen to this wonderful piece<3

  • 2112 brought me here

  • @SgtZaqq i like the rush reference

  • Thumbs up if "V for Vendetta" Brought you here.

  • Thumbs up if hearing Napoleon getting bitched by Russians brought you here!

  • BLESS YOU! @ 0:48

  • And, just sayin', this is the best version online I found.

  • 1812, Barber of Seville and The William Tell Overture are three of the greatest in my opinion. Remember, happiness is listening to the William Tell Overture and not thinking of the Lone Ranger, ( although I have always enjoyed that show).

  • 1712 overture brought me here.

Bet no one knows about that shit.

  • @MarchingMac04 PDQ Bach is amazing. :)

  • please dont hate me for this :) if you understand spanish, or even if you have heard classic music, and you wanna have some fun you should search in youtube for "Merengue Clasico - Carlos Alfredo 1989" :)

  • Referred* damn auto correct.

  • Is it impossible for people to just want to listen to orchestral music without being referee to pieces by movies? Expand your musical horizons people.

  • @12345grandman Exactly. Be more openminded, people.

  • sum dick sneezed at 0:50, what a dick

  • @paulwood222 What do you expect him to do, if a mans got to sneeze a mans got to sneeze.

  • @RudeCo11 He "vocalised" his sneeze, its unecessary, he should have held his nose.

  • Thumbs up for the anonymous cougher at 0:50 haha

  • @ThePvtPeaceful a thumbs up whore? on a video of classical music? who would've thought?

  • @Decont89 As a matter of fact, I am not a thumbs up whore, I just wanted people to appreciate a possibly unnoticed part of this wonderful music event!

  • @ThePvtPeaceful oh... good... but personally i didnt notice anything, but that could just be me, dont say thumbs this comment up, it might confuse people by thinking you do this all the time, if you want thumbs up, just say something funny or helpful, you shouldnt have to tell people to do it

  • @ThePvtPeaceful nvm, i heard it

  • Don't like the strings at the start. Balance doesn't sound right and pretty loose...

  • I was close to tears at the finish of this piece...

  • *F* V for Vendetta. This song means more than some figment of imagination on fim.

  • Remember, remember the 5th of November...

  • SNEEZE! 0:50

  • Oh my gosh we played this song freshmen year in symphony! I wish it sounded this good loz.

  • Cthulhu kill that Beiber!!!

  • Tumbs down for me, please? :DDDD

  • "Remember, remember the fifth of November

    the Gunpowder, Treason and Plot

I see no reason why the Gunpowder Treason

    Should ever be forgot"

  • 32 people must have the speakers on mute

  • epic sneeze at 0:48

  • @brydon10 I said that before -_-

  • Justin Beiber aint got nothing on Tchaikovsky!

  • @LIEUTENANTLOLATRON who the fuck is Justin Beiber

  • So powerful. So peaceful. So Epic.

  • at 7:51 it starts sounding like the angry birds theme, lol. weird.

  • @dsevil wrong. the angry birds theme starts sounding like it.
