haha she was exciteded< she must really like water! haha out by stockton utah we have a llake that dissapears for a few years then it comes back for a few, well its back now and one of my grandpas buddies that lives out there got a vid of the whole heard of elk running and splashing through that lake, its not verry deep but it is just amzing
@davidwilliam: No. This type of behavior serves NO "neurological" purpose aside from the elk having fun. Why can't people accept from the myriad evidence that animals ACTUALLY DO have feelings and have fun? I just got done reading a book called Wesley the Owl and it, to me, was proof positive that animals have fun to have fun. Ex: Wesley would play in water, even immersing himself completely, when owls in the wild would NEVER do this. He would go crazy when he was not allowed to play in water.
The elk knew it was on camera so it decided to show off. hhahaha...but really I think this elk is still really young and playfull. Does anyone know where this was taken?
Thank god palin didn't see him - he would dead and her chilli with his head on the wall but millionaires have to eat. Yeh like they eat the meat they kill. The day the palins eat a wolf that they shot from their helecopter is the day I am inviting them over for dinner.
thinkofwhy: It's true that various neurological problems can arise from lyme disease, but elk also like to play in puddles.
I have to be honest. The first thing i thought was that it was loopy, but it seems coordinated in general and healthy, so I'm gonna say that i think it was playing.
The reason they play is the same reason any animal plays: it calibrates that good ol' neurological system to better assist with life's challenges. You could also call it practice.
This video is incredible! You sort of wonder what's going through the elk's head, but at the same time you know exactly how it feels. Why do we play, anyways?

Ever been a kid and had the irresistable urge to stomp in a mud puddle? Well, that's exactly what's going through the elk's head. :)
