I always thought the Death In Vegas version was really out of place on that album, but I also never knew it was a cover until now. Still, I feel like Clark’s version is a better fit with the rest of “Scorpio Rising”, haha.
Dont tink weller wrecked the song, though the clark version just edges the DiV cover for me. It is the violin and the tempo - there seems a dissonance between vocals and strings. Both glorious sounds, many thanks for posting.
@KJPRAR1 Why? I'm a huge fan of both and I posted it as a video response to Death In Vegas' cover version.. The image clearly has Gene Clark in it also and is just to get the attention of DIV fans that might not otherwise be aware it's a Gene Clark track, as you can see from the comments there's been a few. I quite like the image anyway.
@Waxthumper i can't remember my original comment, but i am sure you're a huge fan, taking the time to post this remarkable track. probably i said something about the graphic. having known Gene at the end of his life, it just makes me sad (for personal reasons). but, it's silly for me to have bothered you with that! happy holidays, friend!
@KJPRAR1 You should be happy his music is still reaching new and younger generations, through this track many Death In Vegas fans have become aware of Gene Clark. There are those who would still be surprised to even learn that it was a cover by Death In Vegas and not an original.. my whole intent was to draw attention to that for Death In Vegas fans and pay the respect due to Gene Clark. Peace!
No way, i had always thought this was Death in Vegas With Paul Weller! Death in Vegas's Version is a banging northen soul tune, this is cosmic country rock! amazing!

They have named the new vegemite SNACK IS2.0, now I have no fucking idea what that is meant to mean, also why the fuck did they come up with a new type of vegemite in the first place?
I once had an acoustic b side version of this song... it was awesome, he messes up 1/3 of the way through and starts over, the emotion he put into it was amazing.
A bit ironic Weller does a song "on a misty morning" in the similar spirit of Clarks' "in a misty morning"-with a bit of Gordon Lightfoot/Richard Thompson riffage.
i'm here from the stingrays cover

His demos may be low-tech, but his words and music come straight from the heart.

@Hossco76 Why did they come up with it at all?
Anyways, on-topic, this is a great song. I love it when covers help me discover great artists of years gone by.
