  • Are you able to wake up now without an alarm?

  • @hejie23 Usually.

  • Does time bend/expand when you are observing yourself dreaming or are you able to tell that you've only dreamed for 20-30 minutes?

  • I attempted polyphasic sleep earlier this month and did not succeed. North eastern US Vermont winter played a big role in that. So dark, quiet, cold, and lonely. I lived in Valencia 7 years ago, but had forgotten about the wonderful night life associated with their biphasic sleep. Envious of where you are. Hope you keep going. I very much enjoy your outlook and insightful commentary on the process.

  • Looking forward to your next update!!! Will you continue to sleep this way in the future? Thanks so much for recording how you feel its been so interesting, I do think you look a bit tired, i wonder if a persons body can adjust to sleeping this way and still being alert as a form of protection in times of need but that maybe the exhaustion shows in other ways?...what do you think?

  • @smoobee1 I make these videos first thing in the morning and am generally a little tired at this time. The same as anyone when they first get out of bed. As soon as I take a shower then i am as bright as a button. Humans are very adaptable and can adjust to almost anything. I haven't experienced any adverse health conditions or extra tiredness from this

  • @BeYourPotential Well i was playing devil's advocate because i really hope it works in the long run for you!:)...i would absolutely love to work and sleep this way...im an artist and never have enough hours in the day..this seems like it would be an ultimate answer. Thank you again for all the information...have you decided to continue after your 30 days?

  • @BeYourPotential I was also going to comment on the fact that you do look tired. Your eyes don't look very alert, same in video 8. It's interesting though because you appear to still have good mental clarity as llistening to just the audio one cannot tell if you are tired or not.

  • Cool! But I think that it could be dangerous to not get any full deep rest in

  • @ocergnairb You do get deep rest. You train your brain to go straight into REM during the 20 minute naps.

  • It's great to see you try polyphasic sleep for extended period, because I had only heard of one person who has succeeded. Next summer I might try this out, but I am worried about how this will affect longevity and my brain performance. I would love to see you test such attributes as long term memory, short term memory and IQ in general. If you decided to quit, you could test yourself now and later after you have switched back. If you decide to continue, you can only test yourself regularly...

  • I've been thinking it could be incredibly beneficial to talk on the phone with someone, to stay awake in those early hours, in a very different time zone. I live in California as an example. Your 1:00am cycle would end around 4:30pm the day before here. We could wake you right up with deep thought provoking questions. I would love to see you power through winter with this till those days become longer. Remember Dec. 21st is the shortest day of the year. It's downhill from there my friend. All

  • well, without electricity human's activities would be greatly limited in the hours of darkness and therefore maybe not very productive...seems to me there is quite a biological link between waking hours and hours of daylight...not sure, but I love your adventuresome spirit !

  • @frnknsns yes this is true. We naturally come awake when it is light, but for necessity we can hack it. When I was in the military and out on ops we would sleep in the day time to avoid detection and work and move throughout the night in complete darkness. We are an adaptable bunch us humans! : )

  • I can tell you have had a lot of time to think lol

  • to be honest, id be interested in trying this sometime.. thanks for sharing. i was trembling in the corner with withdrawal symptoms from not getting my Matthew armstrong polyphasic sleep youtube video fix... whew. thank God for that.

  • @0wenfox : D : D : D

  • u like to live in the Realm Of Possibility? where is that?! id love to go there!!! haha :) :D

  • What do you do with all your gained time?

  • @potatoboi88 Read research and write mostly through out the night

  • What do you do with all your gained time?

  • I've been thinking about doing the Uberman on my Christmas break, but I'm not sure if it's a good idea, because I won't be able to have this sleep pattern when school start. This means I'll only have 15 days or so to adapt. :/

  • @adamal93 Enjoy your Christmas break! : )

  • @adamal93 Just as a precaution - If you are still in high school or still physically growing it may not be wise to try polyphasic sleep because it might hinder growth. 15 days is also not enough time to adapt, but you can still try it out for fun. : ) In my attempts, I handled it the best during mid 2nd and third week. and almost always lost my ability to do so completely after the 4th week haha.

  • @potatoboi88 I'm 18 and I am now having a 6 hour core sleep and 20 minute powernap. I'm though interested in sleeping 1:30-6:00 a.m core sleep and 9:00-10:30 p.m nap which I will do during school as well to increase efficiency. What cycle should do you think I should go with? I appreciate your help very much!

  • @adamal93 I don't know if high school was the correct translation to the school-system in Sweden

  • hmmm 18 seems maybe border line young, but I'm no expert so try it out hah. I did the everyman last year and it was manageable. If you are aiming for 6 hours of sleep that's definitely not a problem. (probably not growth stunting either) There's not much I could recommend if you are planning the biphasic sleep schedule since theres not much you can play around with. If you are struggling with time I would say go with

  • @potatoboi88 everyman 5.2 (4.5hour core + two 20 minute naps) or everyman 4 (3hour core, 3 naps which is the one I did) - the more naps you take in the day the faster youll be able to adapt to taking those 20s (imo) which is the most efficient of course. But be warned, if you have nothing to do - you will definitely start thinking about sleep haha.

  • Yes, lucid dreams are awesome!

  • would this work if you had no electricity ?

  • @frnknsns Sure why not?

  • @BeYourPotential no alarm clock for waking up.:)...or because we cand do much in the dark....except we make a fire, indeed.:) I am with you, keep it up...eagar to see your videos:) Cheers Matthew:)
