I really wish that they would stop breeding the Peke face Persians and Himalayans. The original nose is more attractive and less prone to respiratory problems.
My Precious was a Himalayan and I believe she had some Siamese in her. She did must fine outdoors, which in light of what you said about Him's not fairing well makes me suppose all the more that she had Siamese in her too because she didn't take crap from any cat or dog. Poor pit bull pup, she gave it a bloody nose when all he wanted to do was play. Lol But she loved all people, she was a very loving companion, and everyone who knew her loved her. :* )
@firebucky im not a breeder or anything, but even 1 kitten would cost from 400 to 2,000 dollars. but sometimes even purebreds end up in shelters. if i were you, i'd check the local animal shelter first, or look at the cat fancy magazine. speaking of wich, im getting a cat 2day!!! his name is simon 4 mothns old hes so cute! lol
@LittleMissAlleyCat I have two of those little guys at home and both of them are from shelters. Obviously, they weren't kittens anymore (2 and 4 years), but I love them so much. They're amazing cats :) But you need to feed them really good food or they'll get sick really easily.
I have 2 himalayan a flame point doll-faced and a chocolate point extreme face... i have to say the extreme faced ones are very difficult to take care of when it comes to health... mine has already had several eye infections and breathing problem... and she snores like a beast!
The doll faced guy has been very low maintenance. Except that you absolutely have to brush you himalayan every single day or they start looking very messy
Their babies r due in 2 weeks & I'm excited to see their faces
For 7 or 8 yrs, we had a blue-point Himalayan named Cygni. She did not have a squished in face; she actually had a nice round muzzle. She was a sweet and peaceful cat, who liked everyone in the house; she was even good with company (she did not hide).
Unfortunately, she was NOT a "lap cat"; however, she WAS affectionate in her own way. She enjoyed GENTLE petting and being around people. She would even give me an occasional kiss on my hands or face!
I am also the proud owner of a Tortie Himalayan and she is 17 years old and in excellent health. I groom her every day for amount 5 minutes, and she "talks" to me, and communicates by taking her little paw and tapping my wrist telling me she wants me to pet her. They are a very, very loveable breed. She follows me all over the house and wants to be with me where ever I am.

It seems that whenever a cat breed gets deprived of its feline elegance, it can be tracked back to England.

What color is a flame point?? I have never heard of that color. Himalayans are gorgeous! My friend and brother-in-law both have one!!

Flame point means they have ginger color points. My sister's got a flame point Siamese.

I got my mom a Himalayan last Christmas. She lives alone and was really lonely, but ever since I got her a cat, she's been much happier. :)
These cats are GREAT for older people.

When I was little, we had a Himalayan. Suffice to say, they don't like children--we ultimately had to give him to a shelter. They need a quiet home.

Misinformation. The Himalayan was created in USA, not England by Dr. Clyde Keller. Look it up idiots.
