Sorry to say the Dutch audience had not much of a clue what John was saying. They seemed to laugh at things they sort of understood, things that sounded funny. Some were drunk, some just understood no English at all. Not the best audience for Cash's music at the time. But, being the pro he is, John never let on that they weren't getting it and continued on with his show for those few who did know what was going on.
