If olestra was the reason PB Crisps got canned, why can't they come out with another version that, I dunno, has actual food in it? Or would that be too expensive for Planters?

I can't say for sure if they could've fixed the problem with Olestra, but it shouldn't come as a surprise that a synthetic additive had side-effects, lol.

A ton of "Fat Free" potato chips were also discontinued at the time because they too used Olestra.

I remember this commercial well, 14, 15 years ago, I'm 25 now. These things were so good, I remember my mom bringing home a huge box full of bags of these. I think they released a new flavor a month or so after their release, chocolate filled ones, but I think the peanut butter were the best.
