  • dang noise supressor its just cool

  • This pedal saves my life! My mesa single rectifier is buzzy like crazy, and this pedal completely got rid of the noise without my amp losing any tone! ITS AMAZING GET ONE PEOPLE!

  • wah pedals goes before everything, always... After that, Ns-2... put distortions, overdrives, compressors or any noisy thing in the loop of ns-2. The output of ns-2 then goes to reverb, chorus or delay pedals and then to the amp.

  • Love maylene

  • ok so can some one explain to me the return/send thing?

i usually got threw the input/output and still get buzzing my set up is

    guitar ->metal muff-> boss sd1-> line 6 pod -> boss ge7-> ns2->amp.

i get MASSIVE feed back. should i run all the pedals threw input/output and the pod threw send return? all all of it threw send return?

im running the set up threw in/out and threshold on max. decay on min. and mode on reduction. thats what i was told to have it on

  • @justin0185 for it to work properly i think you need to put the NS-2 first

  • I must put the ns-1 before all your pedals. And you can also use the loop of the ns-2 for better results.

  • Damn I want one of these! I get that buzzing noise at 0:41 all the time.

  • DUDE NICE...other people recognize maylene on here...never knew anyone else heard of them lol

  • maylene is a good band

  • great video, nice amp the valve king. Ive been wanting one of these as my amp (marshall avt20) can hum quite a bit when the gain is cranked I wasnt sure though if it would work seeing as I use just the guitar into the amp at the moment but yours seems to do a great job of reducing hum and other noise. I use a strat (yngwie signature) with stacked dimarzios and a ltd ex260 and a epi les paul, the strat gets most use. thanks for the vid very useful

  • well, it worked with the noise comming out of your AMP right? guitar + tunner + noise supresro + amp ? I think I will buy one because my marshall makes a noise with the drive chanel at "10". Thanks for the video man.

  • who wait you need the tuner too in order for it to work?

  • Maylene hell yes!

  • MATSOD, FUCKING SICK

  • Hi, do you still remember your eq settings for this demo? If you do, would you care to share? Thanks

  • I have no idea man hah sorry

  • can anyone tell me if this pedal lets the guitar feedback and allows you to roll the volume down or adds and distortion so it sounds bad on the clean channel?

    thanks

  • haha i have the same amp and an ns-2... but you should get an Ibanez TS9 tube screamer od pedal. Sounds like a frickin Mesa!! well almost....

  • haha well i had a ts9 back when i had this amp but i sold the amp a year or two ago and now i have a vox AC30

  • Is the suppresor the last thing before you plug into the amp? Like it will be at the end right? The last thing you are plugged into aside from your amp?

  • yeah thats how i ran it

  • Ok thanks. Just starting to use pedals myself.

  • lol i also use that same avsmedia thing too haha i hate that watermark

  • Just got one.......AWESOME!!! I run straight in and straight out with nothing in the loop. Doesn't change my tone at all. Best $89 I've ever spent.

  • you have cool carpet

  • what song is this? and does it suck your tone much? id rather buy this than the isp decimator. its way cheaper

  • cleans it up pre well

  • sounds like a good pedal, does it colour your tone at all?

  • it cuts sustain just a little bit

  • I have the same issue with feedback on my vk112. I'm probably gonna get this. Thanks for the demo

  • The first knob is almost maxed out, the second knob is all the way off, and the third knob is on reduction mode.

  • dude can u tell me what your nobs on the pedal are turned to plz? it would be greatly appreciated

  • Your riff sounds cool~~~

  • i didnt write it, its maylene and the sons of disaster

  • thanks for the video. it's weird because today is the first day that I tried playing that maylene song!

  • hows it do with eliminating string noise?

  • so does it stops feedback on high volumes?

  • yer good point i'm looking for a noise suppressor to use at a local gig help anyone ?

  • dude i tried it and i tried to turn the volume up on my amp and it started to feedback it gets rid of it on low volume but when you crank it (or when i do) it dosn't stop feedback. so don't buy it invest in a Hush unit like the power C to truly get rid of the noise. i'm not a perfessional but this is from experiance

  • I'm hoping to get this pedal very very soon!

  • I have the same amp and it gives loads of feedback and noise. The Boss seems to do a great job at removing it. Thanks for making the video.

  • yeah, if you ever get a chance to see em live they are amazing

but now they got pretty much a whole new band so it may not be AS good but still

  • is that maylene and the sons of disaster? the guitar riff

  • yessir

  • nice, friend of mine showed me them yesterday, they pretty good

  • Good video. Simple, gets to the point

  • yeah it cuts just a BIT of sustain but nothing super major

  • Very good pedal for the price, I checked ISP & MXR they are almost the same and they are more expensive.

the only negative is it really compresses the sound and it cuts the sustain in noticeable way. However,it doesn't change the sound that much.

overall this pedal does a satisfactory job with affordable price.

    thanks brother for the demonstration.

  • Nice dude..is that a Valveking, if soo yeah theyr noisy as helll..but they sound great.

Does that pedal cut any of your sustain or anything? I really need one.

  • Great video. thanks.

  • im using a gibson sg faded with a seymour duncan JB in the bridge

    thanks bro

  • What guitar are you using man? Sounds awesome.

    Thx for the video

  • feedback is the high pitched noise you cant control when the gain is high

a pinch harmonic is a squeal that people do on purpose especially in metal

  • sorry for my ignorance but what does feedback mean when it comes to guitar terminology?

  • Its the high pitched squealing noise

  • u mean harmonics?

or is it the bad noise that u get when the gain is high?

  • feedback is when your pickups on your guitar are picking up the sound from your amp after you have played a note

and it results in a fuss high ringy gross sound

the boss ns 2 stops that by cutting out high un steady frequences

  • listen to 0:26 and 0:50 that noise, it stops that, plus that buzzing in the background

  • dude how much the noise suppersor??

  • i think its like $90

  • got it for $95 including tax

  • Should have gotten this instead of a distortion pedal.

  • not too much, it affects the sustain a little

  • how much does this affect harmonics like the g string 2nd fret?

  • what is the bypass used for on the tuner pedal??

  • instead of plugging it into the output, you can plug it into the bypass and it acts as a tuner but doesnt mute your guitar.

  • yeah im pretty sure

  • does the send and return inputs/outputs on the side of the pedal go into the effects loop?

  • you made the pedal look good

  • So this pedal eliminates feedback??

  • yep and hum

  • Good cause mine gets like horrible feedback.

  • But i heard feedback in this video.

  • Great A/B demo - In other videos it's hard to tell but this is very clear. Sweet riff too :)

  • would this thing help at all with reducing radio pickup?!?

  • i would think it would

  • do you still get good pinch harmonics with the noise supressor?

  • yeah, but its just a bit harder to get them

  • that's maylene's riff! yeah!

  • DUDE so it goes- amp to the ns2 to tu2 to your guitar all through the regular in out of the ns2 not the loop part of the ns2? I am using a Jackson Dinky with a Dimebucker and OMFG is it FEEDBACK CITY! I was using the loop of the Valveking to the in and out of the ns2 and then the loop part of the ns2 to my effects pedals. I am going to try it your way, wow! I almost wanted to sell the Jackson cause my Les Paul copy $158 sounds sweet compaired to my $600 JACKSON. lol

  • wat is ur setup? is the NS-2 the first thing your guitar goes into? or do you have a distortion pedal or something before it?

  • The ns-2 has a loop that you put anything noisey into. It also has a normanl input and output that you plug ya guitar into and then the output goes to whatever other effects you got that arnt noisey, like delay and chorus, and then into ya amp. So its just a loop within your effects chain. Just place it wherever your distortion/overdrive is in the chain. People use this thing wrong all the time. I didnt figure this out myself, i had someone else on youtube explain it to me. \m/

  • ya that was better than i could have said it

i didnt have any pedals other than the ns2 on this video and it was an sg faded thru a valveking 112

  • this helped a lot. I have a peavey VK100 head through two cabs and playing live with my gain boost on = crazy amounts of feedback.

    Definitely buying this pedal.

  • yo dude, does this pedal help eliminate the annoying sound that comes from a plrctrum striking the strings, i am considering getting this, please reply thanks

  • hmm im not sure what your talking about, you mean like taking away the harsh sounds? i think a compressor pedal is what you would want

  • cheers

  • does this even matter if you have single coil noiseless pickups.. i have those on my strat.. and they really dont make any noise at all with my really shitty amp(peavey rage 128 thats really old) and then with distortion then make a little bit of noise with volume all the way up.. as long as you mute the strings with one hand the make no noise.. but if i get a valveking which i'm working on will i need noise supressor cause i know it gets loud...

  • wait until you buy the valveking to see if you need it

  • i need a ns-2 bad

  • Man, you have some wicked tone going on there! I've never heard a Peavey sound like that.

  • haha thanks dood its all about how you eq it

  • hey great... thanks but just one question. do you have to use the boss power supply or do they just say that because thay get more money that way?

  • im pretty sure you can use any power supply as long as it fits and is the same voltage

  • ok but do you use a different one than the one recomented?

  • no i use a boss one for all my pedals with a daisy chain

  • ahaha maylene.

    gotta love them

  • Someone told me that Noise Gates/Supressors are only useful for when you use a huge pedal chain, But I guess that's a load of bull then, because you have no pedal chain at all. (ignoring the tuner :p)

I may get myself one of those noise supressors now.

  • Yeah they are useful if you have any hum, wheteher it be from pedals or the amp

  • That's pretty cool, because I already have some extra hum because I'm probably in an electromagnetic field with my amp. (close to an old school computer screen, etc.) and I can't really replace the amp to another spot.

Thanks for making this video, It really shows how effective these pedals really are.

  • no problem dude, it sucks when you have to buy a product with out hearing it or testing it so im just trying to help people out

  • grt demo bro! im sold too ha using a strat and my crunchbox goes wild when the gains pushed past midway. Would u recommend the Boss NS more than the Boss CS?

  • Oh yeah, the boss compression sustainer wont stop feedback at all, infact it may even help it. It makes your notes sustain longer and evens them out. The noise supressor eliminates hum and feedback

  • does it get rid of the noise when you play 2 notes together or chords when its on distorion, because if you listen in hotel california there is a guitar in the back of the verse that when i played it i could not here the notes well

  • it only gets rid of noise when your not playing or when your strings aren't ringing out

  • Excellent Video, I'm pretty much sold, my Valveking 212 makes a hell of a racket with the Gain on max, and with a Bad Monkey OD it sounds like a banshee, the feedback is unbearable, I might just go out and buy one of these ASAP :)

  • sounds good man, if i got one...would i need a compression pedal too?

  • I wouldn't think you would, i dont have one

  • when i use heavy dist on my amp I get alot of noise out of it even when im not playing. can you tell me if this helps or does it mess up the tone or anything?

  • this pedal will definately help. It doesnt really affect the tone other than some sustain.

  • im looking at getting a noise suppressor to get rid of the feedback but i understand that i might get some humming with this pedal

should the noise gate in my BBE rakcmount noise gate get rid of this?

  • Yeah noise gates get rid of hum and feedback

  • what is your pickups single or hambucker?

  • humbucker, seymour duncan jb

  • as they mentioned.. NS2 can also be used for power suppy of other peadals.. so can it be used for any pedals or just Boss??

  • pretty much any other pedal

  • is it necessary to use the NS-2 with

    ML-2

    Ch-1

    DD-6?

  • hmm if you have excess noise and a lot of feedback then i would think so

  • dont you need a compressor to make sure you dont lose any tone with the ns-2

  • i didnt, the only thing i lost was a little bit of sustain

  • do you also mind telling me does it work if your amp is not tubed and does it work for vox amps?

  • yeah it will work on any amp pretty much. Im not sure how to use the send and return though, sorry

  • you mind telling how to connect it i put it in the middle in a pedal board first through input then send

  • man.... thats on my list this month, i have to buy one! thanks for the demo! :)

  • its 80 bucks but its so worth it

  • damn. I need a noise suppressor lol.

  • MAYLENEEE!

  • Gonna buy this one I think.

  • can you tell me the functions of the knobs on that pedal and which is which cus im stil playing around with it now so thz if you can =D

  • no problem, alright the decay knob is how long it takes for the supression to happen, i always leave that at lowest possible. then the threshold knob is the intensity of the noise gate. the noiser your amp is, the more you turn that knob up

  • well im going to buy a nosie supperser

  • do you mind sending me the tab for the maylene song it sounds nice idig the riff

  • what are you playing?>

  • some maylene and the sons of disaster riffs. from the song caution, dangerous curves ahead and the song lady at the gate

  • nice the tone doesnt get lost at all! i love this!

  • great tone man

  • helped a lot , u have it from guitar to tuner to noise , to amp? u have the distortion coming from your amp? like i have a distortion pedal, does it matter what order i have it in?

  • yeah its the distortion coming from my amp, it works with distortion pedals and the order kind of matters but you jhust have to mess around with it

  • Caution Dangerous Curves Ahead! yuhhh Maylene kicks assss.

  • Thank you so much! This really helped a lot...

  • The ns-2 tightens up your tone when you do palm mutes and such. alot of people will say it thier amp or footswitches, Ive heard Adam D (Killswitch Engage) rave about his maxon overdrive (though it is a good product, and i own one my self.)it is not the overdrive, its really a combination, but that ns-2 has to be there or it wont be the same.

  • I have heard that the feedaback and white noise etc. can be dealth with using the guitars volume and tone controls. You probably already tried that but I was just curious if it was true or not, and I haven't seen anyone actually do it. I'm kind of liking this amp, but haven't played it yet. Great video. Thanks.

  • the only thing i know would be just turn volume down when your not playing but i dont think theres anything else that they will do, maybe though.

    thanks

  • If you ease off the volume and tone knobs just a bit you can keep your guitar tone and thickness, but it will cut down on feedback.

  • awesome man! what a cool pedal, ive just bought the peavey valveking 212 combo, defo need to get me one of those pedals

  • ah, right, fair enough- what orange you get? :p

  • rocker 30 and i have an avatar cabinet and it sounds soooo good

  • how much does one of these cost?

  • they're between 80-100 depends where you go. Guitar Center is for 100 and online like musicians friend is 85 but you have to pay 10 i think for shipping....just look around i'm sure you'll find one for cheaper. rock on!

  • hmm, it sucks a little too much tone- it cuts the noise nicely but...ISP just beats it imo

  • it does a little but i didnt know about the isp when i bought it, and i barely use it anymore now that i got an orange i thinki might sell it soon

  • Holy hell! Maylene...damn straight dude! I'm trading for this amp next week, and if it can pull of those tones, I'm set;) Thank you

  • yeah dude, my settings were usually like treble and bass at 3 o clock, mids at 1 o clock and gain at about 3 o clock. it just takes a lil tweaking and youll be good

  • thankfully i have some sort of noise supressor on my me-50, but i think i may need to buy one if it were ever to break lol, good stuff though, how much did you pay for it ?

  • i payed 80 i think or maybe 70

  • nice maylene jams. there probly my favorite band right now there new c.d is sick

  • yeah dude my fav band too, make sure you see them live they are incredible

  • anywhere you put it it will remove the amps feedback (actually not sure about your loop, as long as you have it in your main signal) but to get pedals to be quiet you have to mess around with it

  • So it removes amp noise if you put it before the amp?

  • do u have a flanger pedal, because i would like to see how a noise supressor deals with one.

btw helpful review of pedal thanks.

  • no i dont have a flanger but i do have a tubescreamer, and with that at the gain and level max it still makes some feedback so the ns2 isnt incredibly strong but it should work withe the flanger

  • i only get hum out of my amp if i have the reverb all up and delay in the loop, its because the ns2 is just from my guitar to my amp and not through the loop. i usually have the threshold between 3/4 of the way up and all the way up depending on the amount of gain and volume, and i have the decay all the way off. hope that helps

  • Do you ever get a lot of hiss out of your amp even with the ns2? What are your settings for the ns2? Thanks

  • awesome pedal..

  • no problem

  • I really fucking needed this, thanks a lot dude!

  • Holy shit, thanks alot dude! cant thank you enough for that. Your the coolest dude ever.
