I don't know how to stop recording it, the red button at the top of the panel does it, but I don't have that button when I record (The red circle at the top bar when your recoding) And how do you zoom in and out?
@Jontheking100 Okay. To record. You have to open up the program and click record. To stop, simply click on the "STOP" button, by clicking on it (Square Icon at the top right).
To zoom in and out. You must have "EXTRA" Effects enabled in "Change Desktop Background".
Press Command/Start Button Keyboard Key and Scroll in with the mouse Scroll Button.
@MicroHelper Cool, thank you much. But I don't have the square box at the top right to stop it. Is that a problem, did I change anything on the panel options for it to do that?
@MicroHelper Nevermind, I know how to get the Stop button to appear at the top now, you have to add "Notification Area" to your panel for it to show up...I don't know why I had that off. Thanks for your help with this, i really appreciate it.
@HGRJoshEdition Yeah, I used GTK Recorder on Ubuntu and brought the ".ogg" file to my hard drive. Converted it in Any Video Converter to ".avi" Then edited it in Camtasia Studio 7, render it and I have the video. The quality may reduce a little bit :/
I would just like to say that Xvidscreencap(pretty sure thats the excact name) is the best desktop recording program for linux. GTKrecordmydesktop and Istanbul are nice alternatives but are more problematic(throught my experiences at least :\
Something is wrong here. Every time I click record a window immediately pops up saying the video has finished recording. Of course the video most certainly has not finished recording! Well, it has but spontaneously! I did not cause it! There was another Ubuntu screen capture program I tried using that did the same thing! What's wrong?!?
wat progam did you use to put the video and sound together i have gtkrecord and audacity but i dont no how to put it together.....and how did you get the bottom thing...
Can't. I tried it and it don't work. What I do is record the video with GTK and save it onto my Hard Drive and get a video converter program (Any Video Converter) and convert the "ogg." format into a AVI format. And edit it in Camtasia Studio 6 :)
So i need to boot my windows so i can edit and render the video?, because i've tried with kdenlive.. but i just can't get good quality when rendering..
Actually i finally understand kdenlive, i'm now able to record with gtk-recordmydesktop convert the .ogv to .avi with DeVeDe turning it to 1280x720 / 16:9 aspect ratio. Then i use kdenlive to edit the video, it's not so difficult once you get it ^_^.
I don't have a widescreen monitor, so being able to do what i did with sony vegas 8 pro, without having to bootup windows it's awesome :D.
I can now proudly say "I don't need to use windows, I'm a Ubuntu user." i only used it for sony vegas 8 :P
thanks

There's an icon on the top left that shows a big Square. Click on it and it'll stop the video and render to the specific location you chose.
