  • This is so cool. I'm not black, but when I was younger I always preferred to play with the black barbies for some reason. Finally they have a line where the dolls actually look black and aren't just Barbie's face mold with darker skin. These dolls are beautiful!

  • They're so beautiful! I want want one :)

  • I would sooo want my mom to buy me those if I was still 6-9 years old! But I'm 13 now. :( I love how they actually look black instead of just a dark brown re-colored version of Barbie... That's why I liked Bratz back then, they where so diverse! These are too cute! Too bad they don't have these dolls at my Walmart. Low black demographics here in Utah. It's MUCH less than a percent where I am. :( I really want those dolls! >:(

  • I have trichelle and jannessa I love them I love trichelles curly hair

  • @mzallstar1234567 i really want these but they don't sell them here in pakistan ,lucky you

  • I like the dolls, but hate some of the names she gave them.

  • I just want to say that the So In Style dolls make me very happy, I am 19 years old and when I was growing up the only black Barbie there was, was Christie. I am so glad that little black girls now have more than one black Barbie to play with. I think the dolls are beautiful.

  • Real girls? What barbie isn't a role model for girls? :D?

  • Wow Stacey McBride-Irby does not know her heritage so I forgive her but all she has done is reinforced european beauty...the majority of black women are not born with straight hair but look at her hair she is a lost sheep...I just want to add from when black people are not black that is ignorance and this barbie is ignorance...hope to meet her one-day and talk one and one

  • i love how the "black" barbie has light skin , light hair and green eyes ...

  • i want them!

  • Barbies not black enough? Just slap some velcro on their heads and add about 300 lbs to them.

  • I like this, great video!

  • I have a blonde barbie now I need the african american, asian and a red head to complete my collection. ;-)

  • i like the dolls but they have the worst names. trichelle? seriously?

  • grace got a on welfare so she had to move to the hood!

  • i did not like barbies that much any more but i love these they look like real black women and girls .

  • cute !

  • i love kara

  • o m g yea i so want these dollz but cant get dem becuzz there made by dat company : ( : love :

  • and these three dolls are my biggest inspration becuse im mixed and i mean we need to have black and white dolls.

  • thier nothing worng about craeting african american dolls i MEAN EVEN TODAY YOU HAVE ONLY WHITE DOLLS SO WE NEED AFRICAN AMERICAN DOLLS NOT TO BE RASCIT OR ANYTHING BUT WE NEED SOME MORE DIFRRENT YOU KNOW COLORS OTHER THAN WHITE THATS JUST BEING RASICIT !!! I HAVE ALL THREE DOLLS TOO AND I HAVE 28 WHITE DOLLS AND ONLY I DONT KNOW..... 3 BLACK DOLLS.

  • @aubri09 o m g ditto : ) yea : love :

  • Why were people so mad about these dolls I'm happy that barbie has a line of african american dolls people need to chill.

  • those bags look rock hard

and i have that womens skin colour!

  • As of August 4, the So In Style barbies are on sale at the barbiecollector website. Good time to get birthday gifts and Christmas gifts!

  • Ok people wake up and face the real world Barbie is so bad for kids i mean like 20 years ago they were setting a great example and now look if you go to Barbie turns 50 and go some pages down there's this person named FunkyMonkey998 she has such a good point as soon as Barbie creator came back from Germany they saw the sex doll and made Barbie then sued the sex doll for being bad even though Barbie copied them ever since Bratz came out barbie has become a S**T!

  • @peacegirl211 Barbie's not bad, she has careers and presents an active lifestyle. she's not realistically proportioned, but she doesn't need to be completely real. And the doll she was based of of wasn't a sex doll, it was Lilli, which was based off of a comic strip character

  • @peacegirl211 So don't buy your kid a Barbie doll, if it's bother you so much. You do

have a freedom, you know. It's not a crime to buy a Barbie Dolls.

  • They are Adorable:D

  • Im 18 in highschool and I live in an area with alot of minorities. I feel these dolls do represent the modern confident beautiful african american women. My bestfriend is black and she has green eyes. Many african americans in my school are mixed with indian/french/asian and have light skin, wavy, or straite hair. Mattel should create more minorties dolls like these in the future.

  • i am so happy that they made a black barbie group. this could encourage our race.

  • they are cute and all but if you notice their eyes are green gray and blue.. hmm not weird at all

  • People keep bitching about some of them not being BLACK ENOUGH wtf? There are a lot of black people with light eyes. And out of all the black girls I know, only ONE of them wears her hair curly and natural BFD and maybe some of them are mixed race? I'm a half breed myself and I love seeing dolls like this that reflect that!

  • ok but they ALL have hazel/green/blue eyes and they ALL have blonde/red/brunette hair. I mean cant one of them have dark brown eyes and almost black hair like most african americans?! The lady that created them doesnt have any of the features that those dolls have besides nose and skintone.

  • Probly cuz they're designed with fashion in mind so they want eyes that pop :/ The new character Chandra has really dark ebony skin and hair, but her eyes are golden brown but I think Darren has dark eyes

  • some real dark eyes would be nice. I loved my ex's eyes cuz they were almost black. And is it just me or does Grace look like she's based off of Tyra Banks? lol

  • These dolls are so cute and amazing! XD I'm a teenage male collector and I'm Mexican/White lol But these are by far my most favorite Barbie line ever! I can't wait for the next set to come out!

  • I need ask women from the old school,

do they collect Barbie Dolls? Or do they

have them, in their home? Don't be shy

    guys.

  • I'm not that old but I asked my mom to buy me all these dolls for Christmas and she did! Yay! I'm 20. I still have all my dolls from when I was a kid in the basement... and the houses.

  • well, I would hope to get all of them before the line up switches. I guess I will start with Grace first.

  • I saw these dolls at Target. They are totally GORGEOUS! The faces are beautiful and realistic looking. Honestly, I wondered why this didn't happen sooner. As a kid, I had a friend Kim. She was black (I'm white) and we talked about this very subject. We both agreed, 'They should make Barbies with faces like real black girls!" It's good to see someone finally did this. Beautiful women come in every color. It's so cool that there are more dolls now to reflect this!

  • @claireofcali I was wondering the same

thing. You know Julia dolls was the very

first african american barbie doll in the

sixties. It is about time they starting making african american barbie dolls.

  • @claireofcali I just purchase over six

barbie dolls this year. I useto have alot of

them, but regretfully, I got rid of some of

them. But now, I'm back to buy barbie dolls, again.

  • @sandralawson18 Yeah, I wish I had kept some of my old Barbie's too. They would be worth something by now. Oh well, there are so many cool dolls coming out now that I too am starting my collection over again! I also like the new Liv dolls....

  • I have set up a website on Amazon, where

you can start over, and collect some Barbie dolls, as well. I'm trying to collect

some NBA Basketball Barbie dolls, which

I already have some old ones,

  • and some one rarest black doll, with a

cooliest black nba out fit. What I also love

the most about these nba barbie dolls, is

their hairs, and their also poseable, too.

  • I'm 47 year old woman, and I love collecting barbie dolls. You know, Barbie

is even older than me. Barbie is my big

    sister.

  • What the hell are you doing on youtube?I have seen all your freaking comments and they probably take 50 hours.Wow a 47 year old woman spending her no-life in youtube doing countless comments.

  • @sk8ter922892 As if I need your permittion. Yea!

I'm 47 year old, and I'm not a shame of it, either. And

No! I don't spend my whole life talking about a Barbie

Dolls on You Tube, and I show don't need your approval ratings, either.

  • @sk8ter922892 Well, if you've think my comments

are countless to you, then why are you talking to me,

then? I can do whatever I want to do. And, I'm not the

only ones who's talking about Barbie Dolls. Don't

judge me, if you don't know nothing about me.

  • @sk8ter922892 Now, I just turn 48, and Sandra Dee Lawson is back.

  • Everyone please go out and purchase this wonderful doll collection so we can help support Stacey Mcbride.

I've read that Mattel is a very tough environment to work in. Especially when you are an African American doll designer there. It is very important to show Mattel that black dolls DO SELL!

God bless you, Stacey. Continue doing what you do girl!

  • really nice dolls, but you can't replace barbie

  • These dolls are not meant to replace barbie but provide barbie for children of all different spectrums.

  • why cant they have dolls with braids?

    and names like trichelle? wtf

  • I remember having a black barbie doll with braids... prolly still have her. Problem is you can't comb her hair or the "braids" more like twists will come undone and they're really small. I only know of a white person named Trichelle... from Real World Las Vegas I think...

  • Yes some black people do have greens eyes :)

  • @AngelicAcid453 Yes, some do....I did a search on eye color genes and found photos of people in Africa with very dark skin and bright BLUE AND GREEN eyes! Some even had blond or red hair and freckles etc...Very cool....

  • Goodies! :D

  • I saw the commercial :D the other day. I was like Omg! :D Black barbies Finally :)

  • These dolls are beautiful. I wish they look like this when I was little. I want some with thick kinky hair, wavy and curly hair.

  • wow, these dolls are uniquely pretty.

  • uh oh barbie dun went hood wit it

  • These dolls are a plus not a negative. I can't wait to add them to my collection. Mattel did an excellent job representing the African American Community. IMHO

    ... It's about time!

  • R we ALL BLIND! Why does the 5 year old dolls have straight hair?!? And one of them have BLUE Eyes.. Only 1 doll has somewhat curly hair BUT I am sorry these dolls DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT Represent Majority of the African American Community.. If you are going to make a change, do it right

  • The five years old might not have straight hair but all of the black women they see on tv and in magazines do! Children want hair they can play with it's all fantasy anyway. This was done RIGHT! and the dolls are a BIG SELLER!

  • These dolls look more like me than the original Barbie and I'm Asian... I would've gone for these dolls as a kid.

  • I don't understand why some people were in uproar when this doll was introduced.

Cause if all of them had kinky curly hair, SOMEONE is gonna be like "oh so they think all black ppl have nappy hair? What are they trying to say"

But if they all had straight hair "oh they are damaging the self esteem of our youth by saying their hair is ugly etc.."

You can't please everyone. All Barbies should just be purple and bald.

  • yea people are always gonna fuss, you just cant please everyone you are so right about that. the "white" barbie doesn't represent all white women. she tall slender and leggy. barbie is the ideal woman. (mattels version that is)

  • ok they can have straight hair but there needs to be a common ground between kinky and straight. and most black people do have kinky hair. But the problem i have with one of them has blue eyes??? and kind of blonde hair i dont know whats up with that. But ur right all barbies should be purple and bald.

  • Maybe she's mixed lol

  • @tub01044 Now you every black woman

does not have straight hair. I've some NBA

Black Barbie Dolls, and some Cheerleader Barbie Dolls. And, you right,

not everybody black folks has long hairs.

  • You forgot about Venessa Williams. She

    has blue eyes.

  • @Hyun3Sook Because, we do have nappy kinky hairs. That's no way around

it. My was long, but is also nappy.

  • @Hyun3Sook People are gonna complained about their breast were showing. Well, I hate you, it's alittle too

    late for the now.

  • @Hyun3Sook It's like how people were pissed off when disney introduced Princess Tiana "Oh she's too stereotypical looking cuz she has pouty lips and a booty" but if they downplayed those features, they'd complain about her looking too anglonized

  • @Hyun3Sook o m g datz how i feel about the curley hair most brandz who have a black person in the group there hair just hast too be curley : ( and datz just a sterio type becuzz some black people hair doez not look like dat and i dont mind if the black dollz hair are curley long az long az in a few collectionz there hair iz diffrent or there iz a another black person in the group with straight hair : ) yea : love :

  • @Hyun3Sook jajaja XD

  • @Hyun3Sook loool

  • I love these dolls, I ordered all of them, they look great, about time they were more realistic.

  • ALL barbie dolls are mostly white which is fucking stupid but am happy they made black dolls WE NEED MORE RACES.

  • @sk8ter922892 And, that's suppose you?

It doesn't suppose me. We all know that

races'm is still alive and well. We all

know that is alot of races'm in the White

House. You can't prove it, but it's there.

  • @sandralawson18 And, that's suppose

to be new to you? It's not new me us

african americans. We all know that races'm is still alive and well. Even the

White House, races'm still alive and well.

  • it's about time. now all they have to do it a Hispanic collection, Asian collection, and middle eastern collection and there will be more equality. wow barbie, half way there

  • I don't hate you, I actually laugh at you. You make stupid comments as if they bother me. I love me and I love all of my features. I love mY wider nose...I won't have any breathing problems. (White people are the ones with super huge nostrils... Ms. Trunchbull) My jawline is model worth and I'm thin... I'm LOVING IT!

You are the one filled with hatred.

  • @Kshais Then you must've hate your ownself. You're the ones who has made a

comment that you don't want to be white,

when all we did, was talking about a Barbie doll. That's all we did.

  • @Kshais You see that word up there? All that is all

yours, not mind's. I did not erase the word because

what you've said, I delete all the stuff in the filess,

because I do like my e-mails clean. That's all.

  • I don't want to be white, wouldn't wish or pray to be white either. You're right equality does not exist in the lands of the Earth, which is quite alright with me because I surpass you and every other white person who is filled with hatred. Goodbye. = ^)

  • @Kshais You see this one? That's all yours, not mind's. Look carefully, to see if my name is on there.

All I did was talking about a Barbie Dolls, while you

    were just talking yourself.

  • I was clearly speaking to someone else. It was a response. These comments were made before Youtube included that @ feature.

  • You've actually described just about every WHITE person that I know. You're stupidly funny. I know I listed characteristics of you perfectly. You fit the bill, I wonder how often you get laughed at to your face... or even behind your back. You need to go to college to get more knowledge. Oh FYI white folks are definitely the ones that get breast implants, have extensions... and get butt implants. Did you realize you just described your race? Your stupidity disgusts me...

  • green haired....wet dog smelling.... scaly pink skinned can't stay in the sun too long, must wear sunglasses during ALL four seasons or I'll go blind... can't have kids naturally, test-tubed babies.... OMG my father touched me and I married my first cousin.... my priest got transferred to five different parishes (and you know why).... prolly wonder why your brother and your sister has autism... your mother had to get plastic surgery at 35 HEEYYYY black don't crack!! Shall I continue...?

  • LMBO! You spelled ALL three names right! You must be one of those cracker persons who says they're not racist because they have a black friend; you probably date outside your race too. Are those your fav things to eat? Cornuts, haven't heard of them in a long time. Sweetie, if I was ghetto you would have been able to pick up on that in my response to your first stupid post. I guess you're just too unintelligent to see that. Intelligence recognizes intelligence and I DON'T recognize it in you!

  • o really cuz I remember there being a white barbie doll where you could streak their hair plum too... but I never saw a white barbie doll with a flute and violin... I guess those instruments are ghetto huh??

  • When did you dream about that one... must have been 2 nights ago cuz I had the same dream only they called them the "cracker" barbie doll aka the "white trash" doll. This one had the same amount of kids, a welfare check and AIDS... only difference is they gave this one a history on the doll and she had lice on her eyelashes (google how to get lice on eyelashes), and she slept with too many men to count.

  • trishelle is gorgeous love her hair

  • will people ever stop being racist? but anyway...i saw a commerical with THREE black barbie dolls maybe one was latino i dont know but they had dark skin i couldn't believe it!!! I was trying to find that commercial again to prove to my mom

  • My daughters think the dolls are cute .But the commercial was very tacky. ALL the dolls have lil "sisters" which screams they have a single mom or they themselves are young teen moms disguised as sisters..WE WANT BRATZ BACK

  • Bratz are horrible.

  • The white dolls have lil sisters too.....

  • not feelin the concept.

  • OHMYGOSH just because these dolls are black DOES NOT mean that they're ghetto!

  • I think this is a great idea because my daughter would only pick white dolls because she thought the black dolls were ugly.

  • They did a study YEARS ago where black kids had to choose either a black doll or a white doll and the black kid choose the white doll because they thought the black dolls were ugly too. I'm sure you've heard of it.

... I always thought this happened because the PARENT didn't show enough self love, pride in their heritage, in their skin color, didn't tell their kid how beautiful they are inside and out. The parent probably only said good things towards white people. Children are very perceptive.

  • @Kshais I'm a african american woman,

and I didn't do that. When I bought a Barbie dolls, I bought a dolls, because

    their just dolls.

  • You didn't do what?

  • @Kshais I like the way you say, You didn't do what?

I was asking if from a old school, do have a Barbie

Dolls. I wasn't talk about just you. I'm older than you,

    and I collect Barbie Dolls.

  • I received an e-mail saying you said this "@Kshais Then you must've hate your ownself. You're the ones who has made a

comment that you don't want to be white,

when all we did, was talking about a Barbie doll. That's all we did." I'm not sure what comment you were replying to but I don't hate myself. Maybe you deleted this because you saw the conversation I was having was not just about barbie dolls but if not then I wanted to let you know that the convo was not just about dolls.

  • @Kshais I know what I said. That's not comment.

That's your comment. I have nothing to say about

race, you've did that all by yourself. All I was did

was listen. And sometimes, I do delete some of my

E-Mails, not because of what you've said.

  • I think that they're all SO adorable!

I would buy them as gifts!

    Barbie dolls are so fun.

Barbie is part of the first influence of style little girls have.

They allow you to imagine, but imagine BIG.

Trishelle is especially close to me and I really love her! =]

  • i just saw the commercial and i think the dolls are beautiful she finna kill these stores around Christmas time

  • I remember a few months back i hated Barbie's after hearing Bratz were gone becuase of the lawsuit but now im in love all over again me and my sis ( me mostly ) collect dolls and its weird cause i was looking at other african american dolls and im like.. " uh.. " and this make me feel WAY happy because this shows that african american dolls can finally be pretty UNLIKE how normal designers made christie >:( these dolls are gorgeous :) ( getting them soon ALL of them :D )

  • U go aheadd Stacey. Barbies with Brains. I guess the original black Barbie wasn't included in this group. What was her name? Christine or something? lol

  • your Close it was christie lol :)

  • Christie. I loved Christie. =]

  • I want to get Trishelle for christmas!!!

  • Seriously I think these are prettier than Barbie herself! xD

  • I LOVE THESES DOLLS I want 2 get Grace frist

  • I love all 3, but my favorite is Grace, she is absolutely beautiful and I love her hair! I hope to get her soon :)

  • I adore these dolls! They are soooo pretty in the face and just lovely. I'd love to buy a few of these if I was a kid!

I like how they don't just look like Barbie, but with dark skin. They designed them differently and well!

  • Comment removed

  • ya'll should check out the speical edition of Italin Vogue where all the barbies are black! it's a great collection to have!

I know if I were younger again, I would grab those dolls. But @ least I know for my future children, should they be girls I can go out and buy them dolls that look like them!

  • So they're bringing back the Shani series - minus Jamal ? Interesting...

  • I want those dolls in BRAZIL!

    They are amazing

  • i'v allways liked barbie (until she sued bratz) but i like these dolls better than the

original. i will get one of these dolls deffentaly

  • WoW those dolls are really pretty better than the original! I love the Trichelle doll!

  • But the only thing that bothers me is the little sisters slick long hair!

  • Maybe they did that because the older sister has hair like that? Like they went and got their hair done together? :D

  • I'm loving Trichelle. That doll's personality & look seems more like something I'd like. I'm 23 but I may collect her!

  • I enjoy math and science but i dont really have a hobby. Unless you consider watching tv a hobby. It's not cuz there isnt enough stuff for younger people to do. It's because i just cant find something i like. So i have too much time on my hands.

  • The darkest doll's skin is dark her hair is lighter so it brightens the skin tone. So they have light eyes so what. I would have played with these as a kid. At least they all have different looks.

  • By your post I can tell that you're the type of person who can not be pleased. These dolls look black too me. Thankfully the designer does not have your limited view of what a black person looks like

  • obama mania! :)

  • im white and i think these are more pretty

    :)

  • These dolls are beautiful!! :D

Just got to mention here: Christie was always better than Barbie!! It's great to see they're incorporating hobbies into the mix too.

    Down with blondes! :P

    x

  • She should make her own company with these dolls except not using the Barbie name but for herself to make her own name. I'm not saying that there's any doubt that it will be popular since Barbie did make few black barbies. but it will be so amazing if these black dolls are a bit articulated. In other words, poseable. Not just the arms but the legs as well.

  • I cant wait till they come out cause they kinda of remind me of the old shani line i hope they boy friends though

  • It's nice Mattel FINALLY made black Barbie dolls...

  • they have before but not in their own line like this

  • yea i know right? they should've made these years ago

  • wow
