  • I remember seeing this. I think I was around 7. Very classic indeed! :-)

  • This ident takes me back to my childhood. That used to scare me when I was a little kid. I would just imagine a glass monster trying to pull me down and give me a nightmare every night.

  • THIS--IS--SPARTA!!!!!

    No, this is PBS.

  • Also know as 3D Glass

  • The show "Animaniacs" did a parody of this with their own parody of the funding credits logo along with the music in the episode "Baloney and Kids"

  • This is the logo I grew up with. Such good times in the early 90s

  • i saw it after lambchop when i was a baby back then.

  • I thought this logo was PBS ident (April 1983-September 1993).

  • the graphics are WAY too advanced for 1983!!!!

  • @bloodymeerkat78 It's 1989!!!!!!Not 1983!!!!!

  • @mariomatt692 I know that! I was replying to Miketheyoutubization's comment that said it was made in 1983.

  • @bloodymeerkat78 Oh.. I didn't see the '@Miketheyoutubization' symbol so don't blame me.

  • @mariomatt692 I'm not blaming you dude. If I sounded like I was, I apologize.

  • This was the first one I ever saw growing up. Watching Ghostwriter, Barney, Shining Time Station and a few others.

  • This one is my most favorite. Brings back good memories.

  • Omg, this logo is on one of my homemade tapes that records "Barney and Friends". My dad recorded Barney for me back in 1993 (when I was 2 or 3 years old) and I still have that tape after 16 years and it's still showing clearly! Anyway, this is my favorite PBS logo! So peaceful. I love the music =)

  • There was also the VHS releases of "Barney", that ends with this logo, but silent.

  • Oh. Mine was a homemade recording and the end logo had sound.

  • can you tell me how toget to Sasame streeet

  • When I was a kid, I liked how the harp in background went with the turning transparent p-heads. Perfect Jingle Match!

  • Also on "3-2-1 Contact", "NOVA" and "Reading Rainbow".

  • Saw this on WENH Channel 11 sign-off from 1991 in New Hampshire and "Sesame Street" Episode 3120.

  • When I was a kids, I'd make my mom rent Barney videos. The purple dude was cool and all, but what I was really interested in was this ident at the end of every episode. Thanks for posting!

  • I remember this intro so well when I was kid. That peaceful song. the lines moving. and "This is PBS". That's what I love about it.

  • Whose the voice of the announcer.

  • Liam Neeson.

  • Peaceful song. I miss it.

  • this is PBS i love that

  • omg I remember this one.

  • This brings back memories

  • oh yea so much good memories:D

  • I remember this was on after Sesame STreet 1993 year episodes

  • The last note of this logo with the announcer is similar to the "1812 Overture" ending from "Kidsongs: Ride the Rollercoaster (August 1990)". That Kidsongs episode gives me the weird dreams when I was a kid.

  • I do! I just forgot the lolz (lol)

  • Well you said call you crazy! No, I'm kidding

  • This, along with the 1971 and 1984 idents, is probably my favorite -- it would look great in HD!

  • Whoops! I meant "This logo used to scared me, when I was little."

  • big head. reeaaallly big head

  • haha

  • The music from THIS PBS ID touches me so deeply inside just like the music of Viacom International's 'V of Doom' (their first logo) that both just tear me up and make me cry harder than for any other production logos...and they still do.

  • are you for real, or just playing? i remember this ID from when i was way young

  • I remember the old logo from the 1970's thru the 1980's, but this one is rather pretty.......kind of reminds me of water, and the ripple effect.

    Thankx for posting.

  • Classic

  • This logo hardly scared me. If I had to describe the scare factor, I would call it low because only the voiceover could catch me off guard.

  • PBS 1989-1994

    Music by: Bruce Broughton

    Announcer: Liam Neeson

    Cheesy Factory: Dark-vibed CGI.

FX: The P-Head rotating, the lines streaking.

    PPTV's KidZone (Fact) 1995-2000

Music by: Harry Manfredini ("Friday the 13th" Parts 5-9)

    Announcer: Maximilian Schell

    Cheesy Factor: Mind-blowing CGI.

FX: The things (clock, man's head, bus, hand) flying, the hand stopping, the hand falling across the FactZone sign, the picture rotating, the CGI.

  • Animation: Pacific Data Images (est. 1977)

    Composer: Bruce Broughton

    Announcer: Liam Neeson

    Establishment: October 31, 1988 / October 31, 1989

    Cancellation: 1997

  • What is "Cancellation"? Was it last showed in 1997?

  • Yes. When I was little, I used to scare this logo. The PPTV Space promo also scared me.

  • And VID mask scared me in 1995

  • Happy to hear it.

  • That's my fav I grew up seeing this.

  • Yet another logo uploader suspended: Heart1987

  • I was born when this logo launched and 3 when it ended, but yet I remember it.

  • Yeah, this logo was stuck in my memory too. I hadn't seen it in almost 14 years and yet I remembered it perfectly.

  • When is the debut of PBS 1989 3D Glass?

  • at the start of the 1989-90 season perhaps

  • This is pbs.

  • The best PBS logo in my opinion.

  • I remember they showed this logo after Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? (my all-time favorite PBS show)

  • This one scared the crap out of me when I was little!!! I was so freaking scared of it I'd have to run from the room before it showed. Then they changed it to that kid one and I liked it.

  • I don't mean to ridicule your past self, but this was nothing.

  • I wish this PBS logo was on TV forever!

  • I was only 5 years old when they replaced this logo, yet I still recall it clearly.

  • I was only 6 months old. I do not remember it except for youtube.

  • Well, why does the music freak ME out?

  • This is the one I grew up on. And yell at me if you will, but I have conclusive evidence that it was replaced for 1993 with the orange one.

  • Not mine. It keeps on displaying the 1999-present PBS Kids logo. They did that because previously, the show supported the 1993 PBS Kids ident.

  • Oh really??? It still airs on my George Mason University Television station!

Not recommended for johnsesame28 to reply on

  • Tell me about it. Many people don't believe me either.

  • cool

  • No, because few 1989 shows had the split profile (1984), and shows between 1993-1999 had newer idents.

  • Yeah. You probably saw it on reruns.

  • The show "Ethics in America" still shows the 1984 "split identity" in my PBS station.
