I would really love a copy of this, but as toiletholder stated, it is not available on Demonoid.com (or any other website to my knowledge). How could I go about obtaining a copy ?
I currently own this version on VHS, but it is in extremely bad condition.

I can't find this version on demonoid. Even if I did I can't download it because I need a membership. And registrations are closed. Is there any other way of getting it?
@phineasbg Could U please Send it to me. The Heretic is my fav movie out of the whole series. and although I have seen the orgional like 1000 times I am dieing to see the re-cut! Please!! Please!! Please!!!
@toiletholder I use to have a differnt version then the DVD release / i taped it off HBO years ago /the ending is totally different and the music playing over the end credit is different then the music on the dvd release /
I would like to see if they did some adjustements like bring back Father Karras in Exorcist 2 to fight off Father Lamont could ve helped it a bit but Exorcist 3 sucked with no linda blair & thats why she got back at them with Repossesed spoof with Leslie Neilsen
To be honest I have both versions of Exorcist 2 The Heretic the only difference is in the longer version Father Lamont lives (Richard Burton manages to come rejoin Regan how the hell did he do that beats me) and RIchard Burtons narration and flashbacks are in the longer version
There's not ,much between the two versions of the film. 118-minute uncut release is available on DVD, while the 110-minute exist only on VHS.
It's in the recut version. The music is different in both versions though. And I think the context of their showing regan on the rooftop is different. The theatrical version has "Regan's Theme" playing, while the recut version has the chanting of the Afro-Flemish mass that Father Lamont is attending.
This movie could have been saved with just a few small changes in my opinion...
Unfortunately those would be script and sound changes so I doubt this cut is what I am looking for, but I'll check it out, certainly. I know the post-climax ending on the DVD release version was a pseudo-emotional piece of crap. Would prefer the "everybody dies" ending, heheh.
I think the film just needs things to be more plausible. I mean, a machine which joins minds? Oh, and I hated the voice for Pazuzu....
I had this version on VHS for a long while before the 117 minture version become common again. There is very little I found 'superior', it was just shorter mainly, I was stoked when I got to see the 117 version & there were lots of little extra things scattered throughout. There are a few different scenes in the 110 version; but I beg the question; why not release an "Ultimate Cut" that has all the scenes from 110 version not in the 117 version spliced back in? Brings it closer to its vision imo
Because the added shots are very sparse, thus it wouldn't be very Ultimate. Plus the shorter version IS better, because it removes a lot of cheese. People wanted THIS version, so that's what we restored. lol
Although this movie still receives a lot of vitriol, I find it quite intriguing & there are certain aspects of the film that I do like. When I use to watch this on TV as a kid, it was the recut version they used to show but now, it's only the theatrical version that they air & is on DVD which I find inferior..especially the climax. So do you know when this will be released so I can finally put a stop to me surfing Ebay for an old used VHS copy of the recut version which I am finding impossble?
5 STARS! Another great project guys. I love these Exorcist films, and this version needs to be out there. I've never seen this version, but from what I read on the subject over at IMDB, it sounds better then the 117 cut.
This trailer is for our restoration of John Boorman's 110 minute re-edit of Exorcist II: The Heretic. This edit has never been released on DVD. It also hasn't been released on VHS in the United States since 1983.
Many consider this recut to be a far superior version of the film.

If you have the recut version on VHS is appears at55:33, if you start the counter at the beginning of the film's red Warner Bros. logo.
