Why are fertilizer prices so high?

... as for not being able to afford it or being extremely high ... the farmer just won't purchase it ... hence there will be a shortage.Why does China have this purchasing power now?

... hmmm .. could it be all the industry the U.S. is sending to China instead of producing those products in this country just so some greedy corporate pig can make a greater profit.

Does high prices in fertilizer or low availability be a cause for a lot of farmers to go out of business, and thus indirectly increase the cost of food.

Will this make people poorer and thus more dependant on the state and thus more controllable?

Yes ... fertilizer & diesel fuel cost is killing the farmer and when the product finally goes to market it's not worth anything because of commodity price manipulation.

There's no shortage period.

Take corn this year ... when the farmer has possession ... it's worth very little ... when people like ADM take possession of it ... it suddenly becomes gold!

The government is allowing the greedy corporate world to take advantage of the American farmer and the consumer.

To add injury to insult, Obama chose the Monsanto go to head up the agriculture department in government. This is really scary knowing what ill-practices Monsanto engages in.
