Kush was playing (and maybe others too). I recognised Jeff Duff from Kush. One of the backing singers on the video was Margaret Cook from The Cookies. A little girl near the stage was singer Linda George's daughter Rebecca. I was a Sunbury Pop Festival "veteran" and now am involved in looking after the site for the local council!
If you go through the list of bands who played at this event in 1974( check out Wikepedia) there's a band called "Mckenzies Theory" who i dont recall seeing over the weekend...you know how it goes??However i do remember seeing them at either Sebastians..Spring Street..or Berties...Exibition Street...I'm thinking Spring Street., so was that Berties or Sebastians??/ The point being is that the very first peice of music i purchased in my life at 16yo was Led Zepplin1 and Mckenzies Theory..Awesome!
ac dc didn't play here because deep purple took away the equipment and the other bands didn't want to set their equipment, it could have taken them 'till 4 am to finish everything
@axlhm where and the band arrived and left via helicopter and Richie did not want to go on until after dark , they played and left the roadies from purples band at that time start to pull down the set ,,, and angus and malcolm took it upon them selves to get on stage and play ,, but the rest is history,, Deep Purple at that stage was the Mark 3 version , Blackmore , lord, Paice ,Hughes and Coverdale. Gilan and Glover had moved on by then
I went to this one...had a great time.....

Queen were booed and heckled when they walked on stage at Sunbury 1974.
They were the first overseas act to play at Sunbury which had previously only featured Australian acts.
Michael Chugg was up on stage shouting "go home you pommie wankers" and some other colourful phrases which got the crowd going against them.
Funnily enough Queen progressively won the crowd over as they played their set
but they were surprised and taken back by the initial hostile reception.
