simply search "cinema 4d" tutorials on google because there are a loooooot of resources out there! ;) keep practicing and don't change software!

I didn't render it in more passes, it took several hours. Anyway there isn't GI, Ambient Occlusion, Area Shadows, Displacement... All the scene is optimized for the animation.
