  • what show is this?

  • i only like moon jelly fish cuz they don't sting and their squishy. yeah there cool.

  • DAMN NATURE

  • Good lord! The idea of dying from agony makes my toes curl! Such a beautiful creature but such an awful attack!!

  • lol how is this creature not king of the oce

  • Hey Squidward, it's the jellyfish, you know, from yesterday

  • I got stung by jellyfish when I was maybe four years old? I didn't go back in the ocean for about a decade. Regardless, jellyfish are fucking beautiful, so I don't mind their existence. x)

  • id like to see spongebob try and catch one of these...

  • this is why the pool was invented

  • doesnt this make you think of Seven Pounds?

  • i hate nature now.... O O

  • Damn Nature you scary

  • Every terrible animal on Earth seems to come from Australia

  • how can i get one????

  • I shall name him squishy, and he shall be mine! :D OUCH!!! bad squishy!

  • poor fish

  • How much do you know about Jellyfish?

  • some should put that tiny thing in Justin Bieber's drink

  • people that got hit by them say the pain is unimaginable. i heard some people just want to drown an die then seek help. this is why Australia is so isolated from the world.

  • The irukandji box jellyfish supports the theory of evolution.

There's no way god would create one of these motherfuckers.

  • Irukandji syndrome has been reported in every ocean including around the United Kingdom. So people who are avoiding going to Australia are being silly. Also you can wear a stinger suit.

  • DAMN this scares me.. >_> we were planning to spend the summer in Austrailia o: and go to the beaches there BUT HELL NO AM I GETTING IN THERE!

  • so pretty much the box jellyfish eats its prey when it has venom in it smart thing to do..

  • what a fatass

  • thank god i have my own pool

  • can you buy this animal?

the big box jelly fish(the big one)is beautiful:)

  • Thank Christ we dont have them here in Melbourne

  • @frase1234

Yes, you do. They are found on all the coatlines, as well as parts of America, Indonesia, Malasia. It has spread through out the world. This is obviously an older docco.

  • It's "one" of the most venomous, the honor of THE most venomous goes to chironex fleckeri. I

  • @Festerico

Which is the Box Jelly fish.

The symptoms are nkown as Irukandji Syndrome.

  • wow, makes you not want to go in the water in Aussie-land...spooky

  • "No one knows why ... [they] need such a lethal punch" ... I thought it was because if it were less lethal, their prey would easily escape and the little jelly would starve. I saw that on a film once, so ... we do know?

  • Yes. That is the current wisdom.

And also that they are fragile, and a struggling fish might easily damage them, so the fish needs to be immobilised quickly.

I have a few full docos on it in my playlists.

Is that where you got it from?

  • Oh yeah, because they're fragile too, I forgot about that part, but that's a good reason. Thanks for the update.

  • gotta love australia

  • i will nevcer ever swin in australia if I GO THERE ON VACATION IN AUSTRALia OR SOMERHITNG

  • so much for a tiny killing piece of condom.

  • very nice vid

i've been stung by jellyfish numerous times before as a kid.

most definitely not a pleasant experience

  • I've seen these on animal planet the only way you can see these bitches is with an underwater flashlight but most of the time even that doesn't work!

  • The chironex fleckeri can be easily seen on sunny days by its shadow if it is in shallow water. Thats the easiest way they say.

But the irukandji is way too small for that.

    They are usually never seen.

I guess thats why irukandji werent known until the 1960's even though they were around for milennia.

  • These small devils are mean mofo's.

If they had wings, they would wipe out all life on earth, just for fun.

  • it's now the most poisionos animal in the world from officially 26th july 2009

  • Atleast they will never starve from food..

  • Digested alive? Ouch.

  • 0:10 looks like Sputnik :)))

  • are these more dangerous then a sting ray

  • definitely. the sting ray is more likely to paralyze you then kill you. with these guys you touch it you die! :D!!

  • the camera guy is crazy to be that close!

  • LOL...this video was made jst to show u how it happens..its not real...who is foolish enough to film this when it actually happened...

  • r u seriously saying this?! of course its real. if u wear a full body suit your fine. some people would definitely film this. just because they exist, doesnt stop eveyone from going to the beaches now does it??

  • A full body suit will greatly lessen the chance but doesnt make you totally immune. As long as there is any exposed skin there is a chance. There is another video about a scientist researching them, he was wearing a full diving suit, gloves, hood, mask, and he got stung on his lip. Someone diving with him got stung by a broken tentacle on her glove.

  • Looks like the sputnik sattellite with the 4 tentacles & all.

  • lol lol lol

    yes.

  • watch 7 pounds, and see the death of will smith by the box jellyfish

  • does he commit suicide with the jellyfish of something? 7 Pounds looks really good, but really sad

  • that's right, but you'll need to see it, is a good movie, but like you said, sad, but afterall is a masterpiece movie~

  • oh damn...that's pretty scary.

I never wanna go swimming in Australia...

  • fucking jellyfishes!!!

  • u dont wana fuck wid dat fu

  • i wonder why cubozoans seem on average to be more toxic then scyphozoans..

  • They're wrong about how the venom is injected. Irukandji venom ejects from the tip of the nematocyst, so it doesn't always enter the bloodstream directly.

  • There many types of Nematocysts yes.

But the model used here does exist.

    some are much stranger.

  • I know. It's the one that the Chironex uses.

  • Im 12 and I got stung when I was 8 it was horrible. I was in the hospital for a few months. I can't describe the pain. I was very close to dying. All this from paying about 3000$ to go on a vaction to Australia. I will never go swimming in the sea there ever.

  • ah it is deadly it stings u which causes its venom to flow threw your blood stream and if enough gets in its over shutting down your body system then your dead

  • Technically speaking it's not deadly at all. The venom doesn't kill you, it just causes such terrible pain that people with a weak heart or cerebral blood vessels are apt to have a heart attack or stroke simply from the massive rise in blood pressure that comes from being in such awful pain

The box jelly IS actually deadly, and hurts like hell, but you can't compare the pain. Morphine doesn't touch it. Most people in the middle of Irukandji Syndrome BEG for death. Seriously, it hurts that much.

  • Why called irukandji? I thaught the Irukandji was the 1cm small jellyfish with 4 trails that are the most toxic "animal" on the planet. They are spreading as well around the world. Maybe another of mother earths attempt to limit the spread of human beings lol. there are too many of us. -Our impact on the planet is huge. Let the Irukandji's loose!-

  • The name IRUKANDJI is taken from the Aboriginal tribe which has ancient ceremonies honoring the tiny jellyfish.

I laugh when they say it was only discovered in the 1960's .... the Irukandji tribe have known about it for many hundreds of years.

Its all covered in the next box jellyfish upload. Check back in a couple of weeks for it.

  • Would you actually wish this upon someone because "our impact on the planet is huge"? you know what, I hope your closest family member gets stung and see how much you "lol" then.

  • why thank you very much for wishing it on my family members. Just becasue i popped out a theory to why this jellyfish maybe have come in masses... The "lol" was more an indication that this theory probably isnt correct. Sorry for not being perfect english speaking/writing. And lastly, your an idiot. Big one.

  • You think god sent these animals to wipe out humans and you think you can call me an "idiot"? LOL

  • god? whos god? you mean that imaginary dude in an old dusty book? get over yourself retard.

  • Ohh my bad, you think "mother Earth" sent them. Either way you're an idiot, and I hope you will be the first to get stung in this human extermination theory you have going on.

  • why would god create this creature u stfu just cus he sed "lol" u dont have to be so freaking rude man.

  • Mind your own business you 14 yr old.

  • yea but i guess u r 10? or r u younger?

  • Don't talk down to me kid, you sound like you need to go back to English class.

  • well im not english so what can i say. but im not rude to other people. How do u know im a kid? cus i speak bad english. its more childish to act like u than speaking bad english.

  • I'm not English either so what? I know you're a kid because you speak bad English and because..you say you're 14 years old, durr.

  • well i dont count myself so much of a kid when im 14 years old :S but i dont know how old u think people should be when they r not kids anymore. and whats the point of using (') and write (are) when people understand r and u? and i know i spell bad and i dont got the best grade in english. but whats the point of being so freaking rude to people :S

  • You're a kid until you're old enough to vote. I don't have to explain myself to a child, but just to make you stfu, I was being "rude" to someone who wishes all humans would suffer and die.

  • wow SO MANY COMMENTS ON THIS ONE COMMENT lol

  • Comment removed

  • What made me laugh was the part with

"It has killed at least 2 people in the last decade"

Uhhhh! That's alot of poeple huh? In only 10 years?

    Hahahah...

But seriusly.. I hope never to get stinged by that small fucker!

  • but its suspected of many more, lots of 3rd world tribes die from it and dont report it and as the marines say "if its not on paper, it didnt happen!"

  • I never new about them. Thank you for sharing this video. I am totally amazed in how deadly they truly are. May people heed the warning and stay away from them. When some one is at least able to detect and put up the signs to stay out of the water. Scary Stuff there. God bless you and your family.

  • did you no that they still do not have a cure yet and hey they are part of life ,k

and they are going to be around for a long time the best thing to do is understand the power and strenth then soon we will find a cure and it will be fine just dont go swimming in water where it is none to lerk it is not our fault this jelly fish should not even b alive it was a mistake this jelly was born just one of these could make thousands plz reply

  • well, even the the irukandji's barbs shoot in at one two hunderth of a second, the box jellie does it in one two thousnadth of a second.

  • nasty lil fuckers

  • did you no that they still do not have a cure yet and hey they are part of life ,k

  • Not more deadly than the Chironex. Still very deadly, but the sting of the Chironex fleckeri induces heart failure within 3 miutes. If the sting doesn't kill them, the pain usually causes them to drown. With the irukandji, the victim has more of a chance.

  • In the past 100 year the Chironex has only killed ~100 people. It requires a much bigger sting from a Chironex to kill a human than from the Irukandji. While the Chironex's venom does kill a human faster the the Irukandji's the fact that it isn't located close to the shore (mainland) means that it is difficult for people to come into contact with it, unlike the Irukandji.

  • The Chironex is actually found close to beaches. Look up some box jellyfish researchers and you will find that they found numerous types of jellyfish including the elusive Chironex.

  • nah irukanji is most deadliest

  • Brutal

  • i hate so muck jellyfish.fuck jellyfish!

  • me too ... stupid jellyfish ... but i still find them interesting ... i love these documentaries about insects :D and jellyfish ... and all that stuff
