Concordo que essa versão é muito boa mas não foi Nilsson quem compos essa música. Na verdade foram Pete Ham e Tom Evans do Badfinger, quem realmente compuseram essa canção. Eles eram contemporâneos dos Beatlles e tão competentes quanto, mas o destino não foi muito bom com eles.

I agree this version is so much better than all the rest.

Reminds me a little of Patti Smith's "Because the Night", another really great song made even greater by someone other than the original artist - a rarity for sure.

It might be interesting to hear Elly Jackson of La Roux give this a try, I don't think she could do any worse than Mariah who's effort was pretty disappointing.

However to be fair, I guess a follow up to this version would be a challenge for even the very best artist.

This is the ONLY really great version of this wonderful song. Harry was a singing genius. His biggest fans were The Beatles (no joke !).

Marya Carey´s or U2´s versions are very weak compared with this art of singing.

@hoffmann9471 The last time Lennon and McCartney ever performed together was at a Nilsson recording session, right after the Beatles breakup, John Lennon was writing songs and giving them to friends to record, I heard that John may have wrote this song then given it to the guys who recorded it first then to Nilsson, I kinda doubt John did that cause he was very good friends with Nilsson, so it seems like he would have given it to Nilsson, and not Badfinger 1st. However Nilsson did this the best

"Without You" is written by musicians Pete Ham and Tom Evans of the group Badfinger.

Pete Ham had written a song originally titled "If It's Love" but it had lacked a strong chorus. In early 1970 ,Tom Evans had written a song during this same period but he was disappointed with the verse section, so the duo fused their pieces together.

In parallel to the song lyrics, both Ham and Evans later committed suicide.

Harry Nilsson decided to cover the song for his album Nilsson Schmilsson in 1971.
