Very nicely played - love the duet - I 'm trying to do that with my dulcimer and psaltery. I'm also waiting to get an autoharp, so enjoyed your playing!
Oh, You played my favorite song!!! You said you used unsophisticated technology to record this song for duet. If you use a software, it would be much easier. I am using Adobe audition 2.0 that allows me to hear pre-recorded track using the headphone while I am playing. Thank you for sharing your music. Please keep up.
I need to learn that program this summer. I just got it awhile ago, so hopefully soon I will be able to record that way. I am glad to hear it is not too difficult to use. I will definitely play more duets and hopefully even some trios once I can use Adobe Audition.
Thanks! I actually used some rather unsophisticated technology to record this. I used a stereo microphone to record the harmonica part. Then I played it back with the camera positioned about 3 feet away from the 5 speakers, roughly centered. And then I played the autoharp along with it. I eventually want to start using the software I have instead, but I need to figure out how to get it so that I can hear the part I'm playing along with. Either that or have a metronome playing in my ear.
Very interesting approach to multitracking. I'd have probably recorded the chordal accompaniment first though, but I guess whatever works for you. I applaud your musicianship. Check out some of my stuff if you get the chance, particularly "What A Wonderful World" on bass recorder. I think we may be musically kindred spirits.
I like several instruments, not only the harmonica, you know that.
I like it to, to hear you playing a duet.
The autoharp has a great sound.
I am still practising for my third video, because I want to play Ode to Joy without any off-key notes, and most of all I play this classical piece in several octaves, that's not easy you know, but I keep on practising, I will never give up, and I will do everything to improve myself.
Playing in different octaves is definitely hard. For my next harmonica piece I'm going to play a bit lower than I normally do, and I've always found the low notes harder to get clearly. I can hardly wait to see your next video.
Indeed, you are very right, playing in different octaves is definitely hard, it needs a lot more practising. The lower notes are more difficult to get clearly, I know the reason why.
The lower notes have longer airchannels in the harmonica, and therefor they need more wind to get the clear sound.
Very pretty song! you have such a pretty smile too!

Sounds nice. As I mentioned some time before,
that combination of harmonica, autoharp fits
like a glove. What did you use to pre-record
the harmonica with? I've gotta try this
sometime.
Thanks for the music, Dave
