The Mission is a 1986 British film about the experiences of a Jesuit missionary in 18th century South America. The film was written by Robert Bolt and directed by Roland Joffé. Looney have you even seen the movie. It does not act as an Apologist for the Vatican at all. In fact, it shows the corruption and stuggle between the Jesuits and the slave traders with the ultimate conclusion from Irons' character (priest) that they never should have come.
