  • This guy is an idiot. Has this mother fucker been on them to actually know or is he a DR? Otherwise why trust this motherfucker

  • I have been taking antidepressants since age 11. I am 31 years old now. I have been on just about every brand that has ever been created. I have tried to get help many times and have seen numerous dr's and proffesionals. Nothing has ever worked for me. I have lived with depression for atleast 25 years everyday. Now I have learned to live with the symptoms. Trust me if they worked this country would label it as a narcotic. Anything that makes someone feel better will be labeled as a narcotic.

  • @caudillracing I'm so sorry to read that. Have you ever been in talk therapy for any amount of time?

  • LSD used to be prescribed as an antidepressant, People on antidepressants see nothing wrong, even as their world crumbles around them. Your MD only knows what the pharmacuticle companys tell them about their drugs. They have not a clue about emotional blunting , divorces, dependencies, or the permanent brain damage that may be caused by antidepressants. Ask yourself why does the drug companys invest so much in television advertising.

  • Zoloft works for me. This man is either a Scientologist or is just biased. Scientologists have their version of cures, at about $10,000 a pop.

  • Prozac works for me...I'm a mess without it.Try telling all the people who use it that it doesn't work for them.

  • He doesn't actually quote the studies that he claims criticise antidepressants; he just says 'there are many studies which say...'

Yah, great. I'll keep my money in my pocket, thank you; the Nigerian Lottery is more reliable.

Yah, great. I'll keep my money in my pocket, thank you; the Nigerian Lottery is more reliable.

  • Anti-depressants are only good for people depressed from doing too many illegal drugs.

  • Do you have any sources? You can spout all the information you like but without proof I can't trust what you say. Anti-depressants have helped me a lot because I have major depressive disorder.

  • Do you have any sources? You can spout all the information you like but without proof I can't trust what you say. Anti-depressants have helped me a lot because I have major depressive disorder.

  • I'm having difficulties understanding the math.

40% recovered with a sugar pill.

(only) 60% recovered on the the anti depressants.

So then 80% of people get better with only a sugar pill.

  • My mom was in great health. Physically and mentally. She went to a fruit loop phychitrist and she prescibed her Geodon. Its a mistake that has about killed my mom. She now weighs 115 lbs and cant even drive. She is now has to be with a family member 24/7 because it has (destroyed her mind)

It makes you loose your mind and will destroy it. The peaple in the FDA that allows this and the Dr prescibing it should burn in hell because they know the truth. It destroys minds and famlies.

  • Antidepressants have helped me a lot. Look at reviews for medications don't listen to this guy. i took wellbutrin for about 3 months. This is really bothering me because the first doctor i went to was like this guy and the B12 vitamin he supplied me didn't do a damn thing this is a waste of time do what helps most people first before you get tricked into this crap.

  • anti-depressants=the 21st century lobotomy.

  • @anebt You are absolutely correct my friend- this " Doctor" is a liar. Not only that but he is a dangerous liar. Anti depressants can be LIFE SAVING drugs . If he is a real doctor, he should know this. I suspect he does but his motives are to sell his books!!- regards

  • Listen very CAREFULLY to what this " doctor " says- "40% of people taking a sugar pill got better while ONLY 60% of people taking the actual drug got better"- so by his own admission ( if you listen carefully) the MAJORITY of people taking antidepressants GOT BETTER!! This man is a fraud and con man and if he really is an MD then he MUST KNOW of people who have benifitted enormously by taking anti depressants so he is a LIAR also .

  • If there's selective study publications, how can we, the audience, trust ANY scientific research? (except doing tests on our own body...)

  • when this happens my mind starts racing, i keep imagining things are going to happen, i do have to take a valume tablet to relax myself when im like this and sometimes a sleeping pill at night. when this happens i cant handle pressure i feel its too much for me.

  • hello dr. mark that was a very interesting video, i am on prozac 20 milograms for about 3 years now, i had a set back in 2005 that caused all this. i take 1 tablet a day, on and off maybe every 2 months or so i get a couple of days where i feel in a depressed mood, when this happens i feel anxious, i dont want to do anythings or see people, and even do the hobbies/activities i usually enjoy, when it goes away again temperorary i am alright until it comes back again its the same thing.

  • One of the best things a person can do if they are depressed is to force themselves to take up jogging. Sounds simple but it can make a huge difference. There's lots of things people can do to take control of their lives but they must have the motivation to do so.

  • absoulty mark i agrre with you antidepressants do not work their a scam costing patients a fortune for nothing antidepressants dont work infact they make your depression worse and thats a fact

  • I finally feel better after you validated what I knew I my heart. Until I read some of the comments below. Wow. You f'in idiots are all victims of advertising. Can't you see that now? Watch this video again and remember this DOCTOR is stating FACTS. I am getting depressed just thinking about how lost you all are!!! But you know what, have fun withdrawing and when it comes time remember this phrase from Joseph in NYC - WE TOLD YOU SO.

  • I would hope you don't presume that it's all about deficiencies because depression is also reactionary - lives are not lived in a vacuum.

  • @anebt All our bodies are different and react differently to different substances (whether natural or synthetic). It takes trying things and ruling conditions out to find out what works for you. I am not against drugs, but I dont think they should be the sole treatment in mental disorders.

  • This huy is a fucking idiot! WTF?

  • antidepressants DO work. this douchebag has no clue what the fuck hes talking about

  • thank u

  • gongoozler and scabycat need to just meet up and have a fight.

  • i was on seroxat for ptsd. not good. it was a horrible drug and i had to go cold turkey to escape them

  • I have had anxiety and depression for a few years, and similar to what is discussed in this video, my doc found out that I had food sensitivities, and also a condition called pyroluria and histadelia, which robs your body of B6 and Zinc, and I have trouble converting nutrients to seratonin (the happy brain chemical). Its been a long road, but all those are rectified now with the right nutrients (such as B6, zinc, methionine, tryptophan, samE & others), and I'm feeling naturally better. No drugs.

  • My doctor keeps telling me to take anti-depressants and they just don't work. I firmly believe something else is effectively causing my depression along with all the other symptoms. It makes sense entirely to me that throwing mood altering drugs at the problem will not fix my condition and rarely would fix other people's.

I don't know anymore if they can fix whatever it is with wrong with me but I'd really, really like to know what the ACTUAL cause is other than just 'depression'

  • u suck man u shuldnt be tellin ppl to not take them u shuld be saying it may work for u but if it doesn't try my way

  • people who want antidepressants want a quick fix, they usually have poor diets, no excersise and high stress levels. no pill is going to fix the root problem.

  • In many cases, antidepressants r LIFE SAVING DRUGS. Any respectable doctor MUST KNOW of cases where these drugs have completely transformed lives for the better. I know ny own case of taking prozac- it was a real life saver for me. Surely this must apply to others as well.

  • What ever happened to good old-fashioned praying and talking to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, our Great Phycisian who can heal us and give us His Divine peace and care. The heavenly peace which surpasses all human understanding. His unconditional love can guard our hearts and minds and bodies and spirits if we can only trust and have faith in Him. Why not try giving Him a chance today. Pick up your Bible, and let the Lord Jesus Christ reach out to you with His great love and care. God bless!

  • @v8350chrome i did this, and a year of reading Christian literature (intellectual cs lewis and self-help joyce meyer ) i have conquered insomnia, depression and anxiety. it's a complete mind transformation, not blind faith religion! becoming a Christan is a complete education and life transformation!

  • Your statement "40% got better with placebo, while 60% got better with antidepressent drugs" actually represents a statistically significant result. Twenty percent better than placebo is definitely an effect (assuming double blind, placebo controlled, and randomised). I have some sympathy with your point about publication bias toward positive results, but if you overstate your case you risk being labelled a charlatan or an idiot.

  • @rrritalin Pharma knows that they don't know how these antidepressants work. We don’t know if they are safe for long term use. Also, we don’t know how well they work, and for what reasons they should be prescribed. They have to be taken daily for months if not years, and it can be impossible to tell if they’re working. And they have serious side effects, like possibly doubling your risk of committing suicide. There’s too much money at risk for the big drug companies to bother to answer these...

  • @rrritalin Everything we know about antidepressants comes from medical studies, which are extremely limited. But the studies are really screwed up. First, who runs the studies? The drug companies. What do they have at stake? Good results mean that they make hundreds of millions of dollars. Bad results mean they’ve wasted years of research and development. What do you think happens? Pharma and the FDA just see the dollar signs' not their research to support their claims. He meant

  • @rrritalin Studies on antidepressant safety and efficacy are 94% positive – but if negative studies were published, they’d only be 51% positive. The difference between what we hear and what is actually going is especially big for new drugs like Remeron. The less time spent testing the drug means the less chance of picking up annoying side effects and saves operating costs. Because of that, most studies don’t track longerm use, and some studies last only a month. Despite antidepressants

  • @gongoozler18 antidepressants being taken for months if not years, most research into them only goes on for a month or two, ignoring long term risks. Millions of people take antidepressants. By contrast, the studies which confirm their efficacy and safety study at most a thousand patients. The initial studies for Prozac that approved its use had only a few hundred patients complete the study. Some quick math. 30 million people have taken Prozac. Now imagine there’s a serious side effect that

  • @gongoozler18 Cont... the same as u r accusing the drug companies of- not giving all the facts. True, they do have side effects- like all other LIFE SAVING DRUGS ( and they R life saving in many cases ). I can give absolute and catergoric assurance to others , through my own experience, that PROZAC helps many millions of people and makes their lives bearable. They R not an absolute cure, but neither r many heart condition drugs, but they allow u to function and have a good quality of life

  • @scabycat First of all, regardless of what you think, there is no conclusive evidence that any antidepressants help anybody, I follow scientific research. Experts and sensible people don't believe something just on just a whim or what someone simply feels, you Einstein. The pharmaceutical industry or the APA don't know exactly how the antidepressants work. AlMost all of the studies on antidepressants or any patented drug, were conducted by industry researcher. Industry researchers always...

  • @scabycat to make studies turn in their favor even when the exact opposite is true. the conclusions are four to eight times more likely to support the sponsor's commercial interest than studies with no industry funding. They are NOT even required to publish or report the studies showing the particular product's bad/negative results. Negatives results mean they businesses have wasted years of money, research and development. There are no rules that the science has to be there. Only that the FDA

  • @gongoozler18 science as long as it meets the publications' quality standards? Those standards require scientists to disclose any potential conflicts of interest. Government should step up independent funding for pharmaceutical science — and for consumers to know they'll have to work to keep a study's results in perspective when industry funding has been disclosed.

By the way, The difference between what we hear and what is actually going is especially big for new drugs like Remeron.

  • @gongoozler18 May I suggest u have major suspicion/cynical hangups?? U sound like the type of person who has major " conspiracy theory" issues. Every drug that goes to market has side effects. The more powerful the drug, usually the more powerful the side effect. It then becomes a balancing act between benefits versus side effects. Some chemotherapy side effects r truly horrific. Many heart/diabetes drugs are not cures but they make life possible and bearable for the patient. cont....

  • @scabycat What the hell does Parkinson's disease, type-2 diabetes, or heart disease have to do with depression? Type-2 Diabetes is a progressive disorder dealing high blood sugar in the context of insulin resistance and insulin deficiency. PD is a degenerative disorder of the central nervous system. Heart disease is a variety of diseases that affect the heart. So how are any of these diseases or disorders related in any way to depression? Pharma's sale pitch is the serotonin myth, which has no

  • @gongoozler18 " What the hell does parkinsons disease etc have to do with depression?"... etc What they have in common with depression is the availability of drugs which, whilst not providing a cure- enable people to manage the illness and provide a reasonable quality of life. this is the case for many, many illnesses. If u found a drug which saved ur life or provided u with relief of an illness you would obviously take it and be thankfull . Why not with mental illness??

  • @scabycat conclusive scientific evidence to verify so far. The Serotonin Hypothesis that reduced levels of serotonin in the brain cause depression is inaccurate and lacks scientific basis. The fact that are too many conflicting studies out there in medical journals saying this and that. It's He said, She said. bottom line is research shows zero or very little evidence to make these claims. So, these antidepressants virtually worthless in the long run. Also, evidence says that your body becomes

  • @gongoozler18 " So these antidepressants are virtually worthless in the long run"...etc Why, just bcos "research" shows zero or very little evidence.??. etc . I suggest u know NOTHING of what UR trying to comment about. Have u ever suffered major clinical depression? I think not by the language and arguments u use. I repeat, I know from my owm first hand experience that these drugs can be life savers. U seem to spend all ur life reading " research" documents- come into the real world.

  • @scabycat For someone who claims to know about or have experience with depression, you certainly lack a basic background in the different types of mood disorders. The general term depression should not be confused with clinical depression or major depression. Also, depression can also be used in reference to other types of psychological depression. You're an ignoramus. People who are diagnosed with clinical depression, or major depression, don't take anti-depressants because they are like...

  • @scabycat immune to the drug's action mechanism after constant use anyway. Lowering the level of serotonin in the brain doesn’t cause depression. Increasing its levels directly doesn’t do much, either. And if low levels of serotonin were to blame for depression, antidepressants wouldn’t take several weeks to work – they would work within days because that’s how fast they raise levels. To cap it off, antidepressants that don’t target serotonin work at about the same rate as those that do...

  • @scabycat serotonin hypothesis is a vast over simplification that’s convenient for the drug companies.

Like I said, there is Extremely limited research. They have to be taken daily for months if not years, and it can be impossible to tell if they’re working. We don’t know how antidepressants work. We don’t know if they are safe for long term use. finally, we don’t know how well they work, and for what reasons they should be prescribed. FDA and bid drug companies just see $ from selling them.

  • @gongoozler18 " They have to be taken for months and its impossible to tell if they r working"..etc Are u completely stupid or something?? U can tell easily if they R working by asking some of the many millions of people who take them how they R feeling! I can assure u that although they do not work for EVERYONE, they most certainly DO WORK for the VAST MAJORITY of people . I suggest u know nothing of depression or mental illnes by the answers and comments u have already given.

  • @scabycat placebos to them. That is because many studies show that people with depression that take placebos feel or thinks over time. It will make them feel better . And you're a damn idiot. I am tired of reading your nonsensical bullshit, you dingbat. Those antidepressants must have scrambled up your brain. You're an ignoramus, you sucker. No psychiatrist in their right mind would give a person antidepressants, you fucking dumb shit, just in order to ''help'' with a metabolic disorder. the ...

  • @gongoozler18 doctor must be as coo coo as you simpleton. If I had ever heard of something so ridiculous like that really happening, the doctor would've had their license revoked, in jail, and be possibly sued. And I haven't read one intelligible comment so far from u. Obviously science is foreign to your simple-minded brain. You cant follow reasoning and logic if it hit you in the face. Where's the science that says they work? There are too many conflicting studies so far so make that decision.

  • @gongoozler18 Yes - I know why ur here making these stupid comments- u have serious mental health issues yourself don't you? Why not go and get yourself sorted? Have u tried any kind of therapy ? You probably need antidepressants yourself but r afraid to take them bcos of all the " conspiracy theories" about them. Be careful, there may be someone behined you now waiting to stab u . Check the doors r locked. Place a mirror on ur computer so u can see behined. U R An asshole

  • @scabycat doctor must be as coo coo as you simpleton. • @gongoozler18 Cont.... There may come a day when u r struck down by some incurrable disease - say parkinsons. there is no cure but many drugs available which make parkinsons bearable and give sufferers a reasonable quality of life. If u find a drug which really helps u and u consider it a lifesaver R U going to start questioning the origins of the drug or wether it was tested properly if in actual fact it is helping u and maybe saving ur life?- I don't think so. Antidepressants SAVE LIVES.

  • @gongoozler18 U should NOT be giving out this DUFF information which may influence people who are already in a desperate situation. Thank heavens we DO have powerful drugs which have been thouroughly tested and SHOWN to help many millions of people. Many doctors on these pages MUST KNOW of countless depression sufferers who take antidepressants and who truly benefit by them. Don't u or anyone else ( who probably know nothing about depression ) try to tell me the drugs don't work. THEY DO

  • @gongoozler18 occurs in 1/10,000 of the people who use it, and was missed in the initial studies. That’s 3,000 people. Antidepressants aren’t benign drugs, far from it. They can cause thoughts of suicide in up to 4% of children, anger and violence in adults, alongside more mundane issues like nausea, restlessness and sexual dysfunction. We don’t know how the medications work. The hypothesis that reduced levels of serotonin in the brain causes depression is inaccurate $ lacks scientific basis.

  • @gongoozler18 Your information is largely incorrect, cynical and very dangerous. U make anti depressants sound like they r knocked up in a backstreet garage or something. There R years of research and tests done for most of these drugs before they r offered to the public. In many many cases drugs r considered failed by the drug companies themselves- who use stringent scientific methods to test drugs- and which NEVER make it ti market. Prozac saved my life and many others also. U R doing cont.

  • @scabycat that it is ''safe'' for you. Also, who do you think funds and/or runs most of these studies tested on drugs or milk? Positive results on the studies mean that the businesses make hundreds of millions of dollars because the FDA would give the particular drug as seal of FDA approval even though many of the pharmaceuticals on the market today were only tested for only 6 to 8 weeks in length. They are short-term studies. These studies can affect humans' health if the FDA approves these

  • @scabycat drugs are approved. But, Who cares, right? Or, the FDA would declare products like milk as ''safe'' after reviewing only certain studies that were only conducted for a minimum length of 6 weeks in a heartbeat just due to their ties with Pharma and/or other Big Businesses. Pharma and the FDA just see the dollar signs, not their scientific evidence to support their claims. Major analysis of nutritional research found the science to be every bit as susceptible to sponsor bias as...

  • @scabycat pharmaceuticals. In a paper published online Tuesday in PloS Medicine researchers from Children's Hospital Boston report that when studies linking beverages to health are funded entirely by industry, the conclusions are four to eight times more likely to support the sponsor's commercial interest than studies with no industry funding.conflicts of interest in pharmaceuticals could affect the millions of people taking drugs. conflicts of interest in nutrition could could affect,,,

  • @scabycat everybody. Nutritional science might be skewed by industry dollar!!!

More studies would be needed to assess the impact of sponsored research. — are investigated more often than others, and when scientists only publish their results selectively. Industry scientists say that's nonsense. Major compliance is generally based on the honor system, leaving scientists to interpret the journal policies themselves. Why do you think Major medical journals do publish industry-funded scientist

  • respec! i9m a psychology student and i feel the same way about antidepressants and drugs used in psychiatry

  • ONLY reason I take Cymbalta is to kill the pain in my feet and hands caused by fibromyalgia. I'm not depressed and don't use it for depression. It is great for killing my pain. Unfortunately, I have gained weight. But I am using rehab pool to lose weight. Pool helps to kill aches and pain of fibro, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and scoliosis.

  • how does one get rid of their allergies?

  • whats good for when u feel anxious n nervous

  • My Paxil works great though its my 10th anti-depressant I've tried.

  • My body is responding well to empowerplus, another supplement for mental health. More evidence that it's deficiency-related.

  • I do agree Antidepressants don't work I've been taking them since I was 15 and I'm now 33 and they make me alot worse. I get manic episodes and I don't want to be around anybody I want to self Isolate. It doesn't help when people pressure me or stress me out over money.

  • That's why with major depression you should see a clinical therapist while taking antidepressants. Antidepressants alone doesn't do it. One must face their problems in order to get through them. It is not easy and I was skeptical because I listened to others about NOT taking antidepressants and I got worse through the years. Now I take them, though it hasn't been easy, I visit my therapist once a week, and I'm slowly making progress because I'm determined to beat this.

  • Nice marketing. Their product's success is based on brainwashing and your product is they only really effective stuff.

  • michaelamadeus how do you know poor diet isnt a leading cause of depression? Are you a doctor? hmm this man is. So i'll go with what he says.

  • When we show depressed, anxiety related external behaviors etc. it is a sign of psychological distress. Antidepressants mask these symptoms so the internal problems merely become repressed. Despite what many people seem to believe, it is normal and it is okay to be depressed, anxious etc. It is a normal and healthy human behavior. Just remember that although you may feel bad, you will eventually feel better. Depression is not a disease, it is a form of emotional expression to make others aware.

  • B3 (Niacin) has helped me in an amazing way with my bi-polar disorder!

  • You can tell by the way he talks...He's only selling a product

  • Great video, Dr. Hyman!

  • antidepressents is pure trash nothing more nothing less all it does is make things worse

  • @SirSafer Ya, worked for me until I started having panic attacks...so problem not solved..it's the modern diet that is the problem.

  • NWO

  • lots of people DO NOT NEED ANTI DEPRESSANTS, look, if your feeling blue for a very long time, try what i did, which is force yourself to get your mind busy on other things! spend time with family, talk with them, talk to your friends(s), go for walks or try doing some exercise, READ A BOOK or play a video game if you feel like it helps you, i did all this and it worked for me = NATURAL REMEDIES.

  • this guy sounds like hes reading froma text book

  • Excuse me, but this guy is a complete quack, and I wouldn't be surprised if he's on the payroll of the church of Scientology. Sound clinical evidence shows that Antidepressants are a key treatment for the treatment of moderate to severe clinical depression, as well as a myriad of other ailments. Please refer to the THOUSANDS of journal articles discussing this, rather than the one conflicted article that reports otherwise....Dr. Hyman- primum non nocere- Please do your research correctly.

  • @MichaelAmadeusColin Key word is treatment. They do not solve the many different underlying problems that can cause depression. The point is you should always start looking at your diet first and learn what a real healthy diet actually is, and not just start taking antidepressants that have alot of negative effects.

  • @xpaladoshes

Every good doctor knows that Antidepressants are not a miracle cure, and an ideal treatment plan involves a highly integrated, multidisciplinary approach. However, antidepressants are an invaluable tool for getting many clinically depressed patients stabilized and ready to deal with many of their underlying issues including diet, which, I must say, is NOT one of the leading causes of depression. Also, many antidepressants have relatively few "Negative effects".

  • r antidepressants the same as mood disorder drugs like lamictal to not work also?

  • you are so right brother!! great video

  • It works for some people with hormonal imbalances but yes it doesnt work for most.

"X: The Human Condition" is a live music and film multimedia experience based on longtime struggle with depression.

We've partnered with several charities dedicated to helping others who feel alone, alienated or "different". A portion of proceeds of X: The Human Condition will go to aid this vast community of people overcoming difficulties.

    Please check out our channel...

    thanks

  • Anti-depressants aren't a cure all as they're misconstrued to be. I think these should be limited to severely depressed people until they can figure out and cut the source. Until then, they do desensitize SOME meaning they work for some and not others. Trial and error, trial and error.

  • Tom Cruise was right!

  • EXCELLENT REVIEW. It's good to see that some M.D's are actually admitting that these brain damaging drugs don't work, and that's all a deceiving scheme by the pharmaceutical companies to line their own pockets.

  • What if it is a situation that happened like a trigger came up to remind people of the past that makes them stuck. Isn't it the beliefs at the core issue and not nutrition?

  • I can't agree anymore. Anti depressants are just an excuse to get more people hooked on some pill. Generation Rx is literately being forced into our minds and down out throats.

  • My psychiartrist offered me anti depressants and I laughed in his dace. I'm like, you're a funny guy! That absurd offer cheered me up! I mean really I'm surprised it isnt common knowledge that these drugs do nothing but alter brain chemistry and impair your personality.

  • face*

  • They work for me. My head doesn't feel like exploding with suicidal thoughts. It buys me time till I can get rid of the source of my depression so it's not all bad. I hated the thought of meds too until I got locked in a psych ward and decided to give it a try.

  • This guy knows fine well what hes talking about hes one of the good guys. The anti depressant normally given to you are mind altering substances why dont you just visit your local crack dealer, least you wont be funding the big pharma haha.

  • see the huge dark circles underneath his eyes?

  • He dont know wth he is talking about, AD's helped me alot

  • This is a right load of old bollocks! Antidepressants don't work? Hmm, funny how they worked for me a good few years back. Depression is caused by a lack of steretonin in the brain. stimulation of steratonin production lifts moods. Its down to a chemical imbalence

  • I wonder how he feels about Xenu and Thiamine?

  • Are you a Scientologist? What you selling?

  • They help a lot in conjunction with other forms of therapy

This fuk wit putting this out there might just turn some people off from ever trying them

    Its just sad

  • Sometimes depression come from another condition like Thyroid disorder or Anxiety. I suffer from extreme fear to people, this condition developed when I moved to USA. I am from another country,I learned the language and started interaction with people around. I have been horrible discriminated, mistreated and rejected because I have a foreign accent. This situation made me withdraw, and I quit my job, I feel isolated, and depressed. A pill won't fix that. Antidepressants are BS.

  • Comment removed

  • I think talking to a good friend about what is bothering you and not being alone is good medicine! A lot of people are lonely and no matter what supplement or self help book or special diet you try to fix your problem,it will never take the place of a loving companion!

  • 70% of "antidepressant" users are adult women. That's 20% of American women.

  • even more depressing is his last name is hyman

  • ive never understood why people with genuine real reasons to be depressed or stressed etc . are told they have a 'chemical imbalance' !! wake up people its psychological damaged and you need good therapy.

  • You get along with yourself well huh...

  • my sister died in 1981.

she died because there was no warnings on this drug. within a month she was dead. shot herself. age 25

i have proof and evidence in hand and i will persue justice for her and all those who have been mislabeled suicide.

anyone and everyone pass this hopefully i will find others from that time period still in the dark as I was until 7 months ago!

    highly pissed off!

  • "note: i never had anxiety or depression or any kind of mental illness" WHY would a person be taking them then??? This guy must be strange ...

  • You sound a little unstable to me- Like a loose cannon..watch out for Pax80a he might be the next person in the news blowing people up-He seems unstable...

  • You're lashing out at seemingly EVERYONE that does not agree with your opinion, with over-aggression, pathetically calling down people when you don't know the full severity of their circumstances. You're probably sheltered, and (forgive me for sinking to this troglodyte's level) an incredibly dense ass. Sleep on that :-D

  • Read your message you just posted...look in the mirror...and say "I am a complete fucup in life" Your doing the same thing asshole...Besides if I need your opinion..I will give it to you.

  • Just because YOU had a bad experience with them does not make the case for others who may have a better experience...

  • i've seen proof that they not only don't work but put a person is put into a more dangerous situation than before taking anti-depressants. they are poison.

    just say nooooo!!!!

  • I went to the drug store and got a bottle of B-Complex and within 3 days I was so happy with life again! I just had a severe vitamin deficency and no doctor ever tested me for that!

  • @YesOkayYNot most doctors don't test for nutrient deficiencies, heavy metals, food allergies, or make specific and customized nutritional recommendations and lifestyle recommendations. AND IT'S FREAKING SAD!!!! What helped me with my depression: improving my diet, routinizing my life, psychotherapy, exercise, nutrition and herb therapy, making vocational, environmental, and social changes, learning how to control stressors, learning how to avoid depression triggers, avoiding wheat products....

  • @YesOkayYNot you no what. My aunt is bi-polar and depression and she said vitamin B helps her

  • how many mg?@YesOkayYNot

  • I agree that some things he says can help depression but to say that medication doesn't work is crazy....its a combination of both-those who r clinically depressed (and i mean really depressed not just in a bad mood) have a chemical inbalence which meds can help fix.

  • you are in the dark as well. guess what there is no scientific test for this chemical imbalance. go to international coalition for drug awareness you will be shocked.

my sister died shot herself. no mental problem at all. she was put on it for situational anxiety. she died from the adverse reaction that went un publicized to us the people.

many have died of suicide..and guess what.

It was for a fact a adverse reaction of the drug they took. unknowingly to the victims who flipped out! wtf

  • "Depression" is the pathologization of unhappiness. This linguistic shift is highly significant. At any rate, we are unhappy, not "depressed." Unhappiness preserves our freedom. "Depression" does not.

For more on this, google for my amazon listmania list called:

    Move from "Depression" to Unhappiness

  • This guy is BS..Stop lying Doctor

  • NO he isn't he is offering hope .

  • It's BS for most of the people Anti-Depressants are a viable means of therapy..this guy is full of BS

  • Excellent video.

  • I was forced these drugs for about 8-10 years.. and now i have NONE. its hard as fuck i need to find a good cure.

  • My depression was treated completely with extra vitamins that my body wasn't absorbing properly from food as my gut doesn't work that well.

I only just tried St. Johns Wort, which is very natural and isn't a hardcore antidepressant, late last year, and even then it wasn't absolutely necessary.

I've also found physical exercise is a very powerful anti-depressant. After a long ride on my bike I feel clear and happy.

  • I was on an SSRI for about 7 months and when I came off I felt awful. My doctor said she would speak to the drug sales representative about it. Like HE is going to be unbiased.

I went back the next week and she said, "You need to go back on them. You're obviously still depressed.

I refused and said I had become addicted. Not long after people started to realise that they WERE addictive.

  • I have been on one since 1997. I was not told they are addictive either..until now.

I actually lost a sister in 1981. Her death was suspicious.

She was 25 years old. full of life. then she went through a divorce was fine with it.

then suddenly changed! within a month

she was dead. she shot herself in the head in her car in our families driveway.

well now after almost 3 decades of suspician I had from day one. I found my answer!

  • i feel for you i am 15 and i was suicidal for a year and i just went on prozac today but i am very scared now over all the people saying that i will become very aggressive i have adhd and asperger syndrom which make me angry without the antidepressants

  • just have your family or friends watch you carefully. Do not change your dose up or down with out the doctor knowing. and be in constant contact with them! Also do not quit cold turkey! for more info you can go to the site International coalition for drug awareness. dont be scared. email me anytime you want to for I myself am on zoloft and I am trying to wean off. im scared too.

  • I found out that taking magnesium supplements helped me with my depression. I am also taking other supplements like B vitamins and of course eating right and exercising. Thank you for all your videos. They are great.

  • Dr. Hyman is not the only one saying this. The New England Journal of Medicine has also said this, as well as the British Medical Journal. Take a look around the Internet and you'll see a lot of people wrecked by psychiatric drugs.

Even if you feel you are doing well with them, be forewarned: nobody knows what the long-term side effects are going to be, since they have never been tested for longer than 10 weeks in clinical trials.

shot herself on Sept. 22 1981

    you decide!

  • do your homework. He is right. you are actually 2.5 times more likely to kill yourself if you do take the drugs.

  • 80% of people the people who commit suicide are either on this kind of drug, the does up or down changed, or they quit cold turkey!
