  • it hadn't occurred to me till i watched this that maybe he was a big influence on merril garbus of tune yards.

  • Hammer !!! Einfach Genial...

  • This song is my favorite version of one of my most favorite songs

  • That microphone is a cool sounding instrument!

  • thumbs up 4 no reason

  • I love how "chill" & relaxed he is. :) Doesn't feel the need to dress up, just come out in jeans & a t-shirt. Love it!! ^_^

  • @dermygquinn .. Man, i'm pretty sure all your 12 month baby can do is eat and shit all day long. :)

  • Amazing how he seems to sing the melody and somehow spray the chords around it at the same time

  • THE BEST EVER VERSION of this masterpiece !!!!

  • it's not his song!! it's a Standard written by Charles Chaplin!!!!

  • the only two words i can use to describe this is inhuman and breathtaking

  • Pink booty - pinky booty - pink booty - pink booty - pink booty siii laaa kaaa laanii poo poo so raa

  • his chest must hurt after a show :o

  • One of my most favorite songs sung by one of my most favorite artists! This just made my day! :D

  • @TheHL922 It's not a specific language, just his brand of vocalese, a lot like Al Jarreau uses, although they are very different vocalists. Both are AMAZING though.

  • all i did during this song was smile!

  • @qebiko i smiled after reading your comment =)

  • @qebiko i smiled after reading your comment =)

  • if ya dont like it, get the fk out a here. we dont need your ignorance

  • Pure, Sheer, Unadulterated Brilliance! I had to listen to this a few times to catch the melody b/c Bobby was improvising out of his mind! He's truly a musical genius and a real treasure! I LOVED everything about this because it doesn't sound like any version I've ever heard.

I feel sorry for anyone who doesn't get it cause you're really missing out.

    Thanks for posting!

  • AWSOME!!

  • anyone know the language or lyrics????

  • @TheHL922 This song was written by Charlie Chaplin...it's a perfect song to listen to when you're down and you need to feel better....well for me it is.... :)

  • @Moog168

The music was composed by Chaplin but the lyrics are by John Turner and Geoffrey Parsons

  • Hell yeah that indeed put a smile on my face alright.

  • when i watched this episode iwas looking @ it with my mouth wide open...amazing!!

  • Is it in a different language?

  • @xxtasha10xx

Nah, he sings alot of these songs in some kind of a wannabe African manner :)

  • @JoshuaSnell3 Lmao...I couldn't even understand him.

  • i'm 14 And i love this. I Wish i Cud See The Lyrics though

  • @Rickniching The song is originally written by Charlie Chaplin....A LOT of artists covered this song!

  • He is one of the African AMerican legends that has inspired the beat box revolution we have to-day. He doesn't cuss or play women down he is truly an inspiration to those who wish to take this musical baton - good on yah Bobby

  • Absolutely incredible

  • Genius! MAster! Virtuoso!

  • even when the guy gasps for breath it's hip

  • Just a magician ... Spontaneous Invention lives ! ;-)

  • Bobby is a unique guy. If you can find anyone more talented reply to this :) Smile xD

  • is not real

    it`s Amazing

  • and I should say that as a Mcferrin freak, I've never heard this arrangement. But I think it is a good place to start to illustrate the dynamic he juggles between terrifying virtuosity and honest musicality.

  • fuck man, can someone please do a mashup with MJ and Bobby???

  • this ditty was actually written by charlie chaplin. there are versions by nat king cole and michael jackson, among others (with lyrics), his version here is something totally different to any other incarnation and personally I think the technique is pretty impressive. arpeggiating your voice for that time in the way he manages aint easy...

  • I know who he was and i know a good few of his songs and this ranks among the poorest, and i said this is shit not him

  • @dermygquinn i happen to agree with you , its still equally as impressive in terms of performance but the song feels like more of a mish mash rather than a fully thought out song. More something he came up with whilst improvising and decided to just keep it. Theres no structure to it. More just showing you his skills.

i like it but dont love it.

  • @Gamerpigeon you just embarrassed yourself... this "mish-mash" was written by Charlie Chaplin in the 1930's... yeah, "it's just something Bobby came up whilst improvising". lolz

  • @morrisal okay Chaplin wrote it , still dont change my feelings 4 the song , no obvious structure to it , more the sort of thing he might do to get his voice warmed up , dont get me wrong its very very impressive but it just doesnt sound like a well structured song ... its just my opinion.

  • @morrisal As for embarrising myself im pretty sure that the fact this song was written by Chaplin isnt common knowledge , perhaps to hardcore Mcferrin fans but im casual so thats maybe another reason why i dont like it very much ; )

  • @dermygquinn oh hell nah!

  • Can you get this as an mp3 file?

  • the only word i can use to describe this (other than unbelievably awesome) is weird. It's so unique, but fucking dope at the same time

  • In order to appreciate music of this quality requires a certain amount of intelligence and sensitivity. He's an amazing musician.

  • @dermygquinn... that is why he has been invited to World Science Festivals because even scientists have accepted that what he does is special! And oh yeah he is so sh!t he has won 10 TEN! Grammys! If you cant understand or appreciate what most would refer to as talent that is fine. But no need to insult it! Do you know who Bobby McFerrin is? Please google and get some culture in you.

  • @dermygquinn ..... your a dick... and neither you nor your 12 month old child could create a piece of music like that... ps..... your a dick

  • @dermygquinn

We can't help it if you're tone deaf.

  • @c4Tango prejudice is never healthy for the mind.

  • @MoGotMilk Did you even read what I was replying to?

  • @c4Tango

There are such things as people who dont like the same things we like. Im not a person who descriminates at nature so I agree with him. "Yes and I confirm that you dont like bobby mcferrin - have a niceday" Your arguements avoided. Compassion is understanding.

  • @dermygquinn Then check out some of his songs with lyrics. The draw is that he does it all with his voice, baseline, lead melody, ect. This isn't one of his best songs, it doesn't showcase what he does best. But it still shows amazing vocal control (do you hear the scales he is hitting?) perfect pitch, and a wide vocal range.

  • @dermygquinn You're kidding, right? Please tell me you're joking? I want to believe that you're not spectacularly judgemental and rather stupid, but I'm having trouble with it... if you could just reassure me that you understand that what he's doing here is amazing and that he's secure enough in his own talent to not feel the need to sing all show-casey stuff all the time, then I'd be able to believe that you're not an uncultured fool... here's hoping.

  • @dermygquinn you TWAT. i'm laughing at you right now. you're an ignoremous.

  • @dermygquinn if i could vote down a million times i would.sorry

  • @dermygquinn if your child can make such noises all day long as you said, then we've just found the new mozart :D

  • @dermygquinn Your 12 month of baby cant do shit fuck head. This is talent and if your too stupid to understand that than you should just shoot yourself now. Bobby isnt embarassing he is a hero to millions of people. He is an insperation to countless singers and musicians. There will never be another human on the earth that is as talented in this field as he is and you know that. Your just a jelous little prick so shut the fuck up and go listen to more of your lady gaga bullshit. Fucking bitch.

  • @dermygquinn You're child must be retarded if he makes noises, go get that checked out, in the mean time I'm going to listen to Bobby McFerrin.

  • @dermygquinn as I SEE all you've got in your f**n LOW LIFE ....it's an opening of YouTube account ! what an achievement for scumbag like you.

  • What a GEEZER!!

  • That is an incredible talent!

  • Wow thats cool....

  • Now I'm crying too!!

  • this made me cry with joy

  • SKILLAGE!

  • grand master lyricist

  • absolute genius!

  • 1:16, dinosaur penis

  • He is still a genious!

  • skillz

  • Sooooooooo good.

  • Unfortunately, he hasn't recorded this cover on any album, as far as I know.

  • @GaelAubrit This is a cover?? What's the original?

  • @BenandAdriansWorld "Smile" is a standard, originally composed by Charlie Chaplin in 1936 (without lyrics, like in Bobby's cover). Lyrics were written later and the song became famous in 1954, thanks to Nat King Cole. It was also sung by Michael Jackson in 1995. A wonderful song.

  • @GaelAubrit Cheers :)

  • I agree - any idea where I can find this song? Has he released this on an album?

  • Delightful.
