Sam was born in Kinsasha actually. Both his parents are from Angola. Some desperate Zimbabwean spread the speculation that Sam's father hailed from Zimbabwe; but as I said, those are only speculations that cannot be confirmed. As far as I know the only international celebrity Zimbabwe ever produced is one Makosi Musambasi, the 1500pounds per night girl. Zimbabwe must be proud. Hahaha!

@BabaBubba, face the facts, know your history, Sam was Born in Zimbabwe, grew up in Zimbabwe moved to the then Zaire with Rhumba groups that used to come down to Zimbabwe. he lived in Zaire then he got Belgian Citizenship where he is now

@mugabe31 Sam Mangwana, born February 21, 1945, in the the DRCongo, is a Congolese musician, born to a Zimbabwean migrant father and an Angolan mother. He is the frontman of his bands Festival des maquisards and African All Stars. this is the fact and the truth.
