The reason why people don't notice? It's like the experiment where they asked people to count how many passes were made in a basketball game, and then, part way through, have someone in a gorilla suit run through. You know what happened when they asked the audience about the gorrilla? They hadn't even noticed. One thing had their attention so well, they weren't paying attention to anything else. Since this is a pretty actiony scene, it can be understood how no one noticed, not even the editors.
@opel1111 "WTF thats obvious as hell how come I didnt see that"
There was a psychology experiment (later used in an advert) where people were asked to watch 2 teams of basketball players make passes, but to only count the number of passes made by one of the teams.
A man in a gorilla suit walks past the action and many people missed it, in fact some who missed it, refused to believe it was the same film, until they were shown film of themselves watching it.
a large amount of what your eyes are looking at and fills it in with imagination.
There is only a moon sized section of your vison that is full colour and fully focused, but that's not what your brain tells you. This is how many magic tricks and special forces operations work; misdirection.
The human brain can't take in everything, unless you're some kind of autistic savant, in which case you lose out in other ways.
lmao!! i thought you were going to point out that the knife is close then far then close then far again! XDD i totally did not see the camera guy at all! XDD
It's not that editors don't catch the mistakes. It's often too expensive to re-cut and they want the footage in the film, so they bet on most viewers not noticing. Here, where the focus is on the action, they know very few will catch the error. Particularly true for films made before everyone had access to editing clips and uploading to a Website for everyone to see...
@mcstraviganza I seen a lot of movies with huge mistakes in them. Like Aliens and The Thing. I think most movies have mistakes in them but most people arent looking for that sort of thing when they watch a movie!
But Im always hoping to see the ghost boy from Three men and a baby somewhere else!
Virtually all movies have some mistakes like this (thoughy rarely this outrageous). I watched The Dark Knight so many times (it was all I had when I moved and had no TV/internet for a few months) that I stopped concentrating on the story and dialogue and then one time when I watched it, all of the sudden I started to see every little mistake like reflections of cameras and continuity goofs like things not in the right place from shot to shot.
Wow.... this video is right. This has to be the worst movie mistake I have ever seen. Or, well... it could share the number 1 spot with when they play a clip backwards in the movie Anaconda to show them leaving with the boat, where you can obviously see the waterfall goes upwards.
Check out the awful Indiana Jones 4. The scene in the restaurant in the first act. The ketchup and mustard bottles on the table. Now, I never notice these mistakes, I think it's the first one I ever caught in my whole life, but it's so obvious even I couldn't miss it.
@wuezili It doesn't matter if you're adult or not - we are all entitled to have our own opinions. You don't need to act like an immature prick trying to poke at us more openminded than you.
@kurvos Your bad taste doesn't support the generally positive view of maintaining an open mind. Have you considered that my opinion has nothing to do with close-mindedness? No? That's close-minded. Have you considered that open-mindedness, being that it, by definition, must exclude the close-minded point of view is, paradoxically, close-minded? No? I'd assume you're smart enough to see what I'm saying, but that would be close-minded. I'll be open-minded about the possibility you're stupid.
Haha, I was so focused on the fight, I didn't see the camera guy either until he was marked. But one would think that someone would have seen that during post-production.
Fail. I didn't notice it until the highlight. They're supposed to watch for stuff like that. I mean that one is so obvious...But hidden at the same time.

@kurvos When Draco and Harry were dueling and were supposed to be using disarming spells only. When Harry knocks Draco to Snape's feet, there is a camera man in the crowd to the left i beleive.
@Snapboy7764 Oh, that one... that doesn't count to me as the same, like you claim. In Harry Potter, he is hidden in the crowd - right out in the left corner. You can barely see him even if you know he's there. But here, it's so extremely obvious where he is once you know.

C'mon people, do you really think that they would fight over a corn dog... And anyway, IF you think it's a corn dog, how do you explain how the one guy stabs the other guy with it??
It's called a shank... Basically, it's a sharpened piece of metal with a wooden handle...
The mistake is the cameraman clearly sitting in the background..
@BobDawg173 That one is worse, in my opinion, as well. The T-Rex comes out of the JUNGLE on the GROUND, out of the fence, but when the characters go over it, it's a sudden drop-off? WTF?

ok, i can understand getting the camera guy's foot or like part of the camera in the shot, BUT HE WHOLE FRIGGING CAMERA GUY WITH THE CAMERA?!?! that's just redic.

@nadoeloiskat in 1970s video cameras were quite small, look up some footage of JFK where you can see cameras filming, home cameras were never the size that the one in the video is
@sammygirl143 True. Having never seen this movie though I just assumed the cameraman was part of the scene, a bystander filming the fight. It's just too obvious a goof for me to think otherwise :)
@mrsparkle001 there is more than one camera man in films, its easier to get different angles with different camera men than it is to have one man run around
@2010blackhawkdown It's such an obvious goof that was easier for me to believe he's supposed to be in the shot as someone filming the fight. When I watch the scene again though I can see the angles he shot.
It's not like other movie goofs where a crewman accidentally winds up in the shot in the background; in this one he's right there. How did the director not catch that?
Oops! Yeah, its a mistake, there would be no reason why a guy with a professional grade camera would have been there. I guess it goes to show how much focus was on the fight, I didn't see it the first time through.
I thought the mistake was when he tries to reach for the stabbing thingy his hand totally falls over it and then the next scene shows he cant reach it, but then i saw the camera man.
Really? I mean... just REALLY?! You guys know it's called... EDITING?! Right? If your going to make a mistake at LEAST Try to edit it out. Who made this movie anyway?
Maybe it was no mistake. Perhaps there really was a convict among the others who's a film enthusiast and just likes too capture anything interesting :-) hehe.
Wow, totally didn't notice it first time around. I'm guessing the editor was under a tight schedule and it just blended into the crowd when he looked at it.
The reason why people don't notice? It's like the experiment where they asked people to count how many passes were made in a basketball game, and then, part way through, have someone in a gorilla suit run through.
