Here's the thing that bothers me about Smallville: if this is Clark's dream, then he acknowledged even back then that keeping his secret from Lex would drive their friendship apart. He also subconsciously believed that Lex was his friend and, had Clark been honest about his secret, would have kept Clark's secret and protected him. Lex had also proved that he'd help Clark and his friends/family with his money and connections. So why did Clark continue lying to him and drive him away? >.<
