Edwin had a winning streak of 9 years 9 months and 9 days winning first. He got beaten and then had another streak of about 2-2/2 years. Incredible athlete who knew how to prepare to win.
Edwin Moses was THE Shit.--One of The Best of THE BEST athletes on the planet during the 70s and 80s.
He was the embodiment of the COOL Renaissance Man: not only a very sharp cookie academically but, for over a decade, at THE highest level of athletic performance on the planet--& often while wearing shades--he was not JUST invincible, he was Secretariat: NO one was even CLOSE!
--In baseball one might aspire to emulate Koufax or Mays--the legends: the Best of the BEST--in track: Edwin Moses.
Ed was the man who broke my brother's 22 year old world record - Gert Potgieter from South Africa. They are good friends, I believe. Gert is now pouring his energy into promoting sports among the black kids in SA. Great guy. What is Mr Moses doing?
I don't know him personally but i thought this might help(ref from wikipedia)...Since election in 2000, Moses has been chairman of the Laureus World Sports Academy, which seeks "to promote and increase participation in sport at every level, and also to promote the use of sport as a tool for social change around the world." [1] Several dozen Olympic and world champion athletes, through the Laureus Sports for Good Foundation, work to assist disadvantaged youths around the world.
Outstanding athlete one of the greatest of alltime. His winning run will probably never be beaten.

Running the 400 m hurdles is a bitch. It is the the hardest race second only to the steeplechase.
