Two more VERY important questions. What do you think about raw chia and flax seeds? I have heard that the phytic acid in chia seeds acts as an anti-nutrient, preventing the body from absorbing minerals from the chia, & the other digest in the stomach. I have also heard that flax seed is banned in certain parts of Europe, & that some cultures consider it to be livestock feed. Please advise!
This is very interesting & you seem highly knowledgable. I don't eat much cacao, but I do know from my own experiences that cocoa/chocolate is EXTREMELY powerful when used like a drug, for depression, hormone or menstrual issues. On a side note, what are your thoughts on eating raw cantaloupe/honeydew seeds? And why do I feel really sick 75% of the time after eating organic melons/grapes? It feels like sugar toxicity, but I want to hear your take on it.
I agree with everything you said in this video John, but I think its pretty amazing how the longest confirmed human life span in history, living to the age of 122 years, 164 days (44724 days total) Jeanne Calment consumed so much and yet lived to be that old. She supposedly ate 1 kilo of chocolate a week according to wikipedia.
She also smoked. Maybe the smoking was why she lived so long?? Its hard to single out the "one thing" she did was the reason.. Maybe her genes? IF it was cacao? why? antioxidants? Catechin? Those are available in other foods besides Cacao that doesnt have the negative effects. That being said, Im just sharing my research. I personally think her minimium stress life had a lot to do with it.
@adkpinecone This is SO interesting. I think we all need to explore how low level/high level consumption of mildly toxic substances can have a healing affect on the body. This really flips things around. This is a mystery I definitely want to understand better.
I have been raw for over 12 years and never eat cacao, as far as I am concerned, it is junk. The fact that the profit driven "gurus" are the only ones promoting it, reinforces to me that is junk, as is most of their information.
Good going, John! Cacao is more toxic than coffee. Theobromine and other toxic substances in it are extremely toxic. It's not food, it's fermented poison.
Thank you for making this video. I'm tired of hearing how cocao is a superfood when it really should be used in extreme moderation... it's a stimulant.
Thank you for this! It's chock full of vital and important information. A few organic coffee beans works far better as a stimulant than cacao. Eating 100 grams (approx. 3 1/2 ounces) of cacoa powder is a extremely large amount. Cacao can cause adverse effects in such large amounts. There is no proof that the antioxicant ORAC value has meaningful effects on the body. Cacao might be considered a misnomer for the abused term, "superfood." But, it's hugely PROFIT engendering. It's a drug, after all.
Cocao and sugar have been the cause of slavery, oppression, and war for hundreds of years. Otherwise good people have endorsed so much hate because of their addiction to these substances.
I still like to eat chocolate sometimes (cocao seeds with coconut chips and raisins is yum.) But I do not want to become a victim of it's addictive powers.
Your research on cacao is flawed since cacao nibs is the most nutrient dense food on the planet. Cacao is not a simulant but only one of the most powerful and most affective superfood out there.
Just wondering how my research could be flawed? Im showing data straight from the USDA nutrition database, and other trusted sources. One of the problems I see is that people have been bombarded with so much hyped-up marketing information on how "good" raw cacao is, (and have already formed their opinion on it) that people have a hard time believing truthful information when it is presented to them.
@puffyclouddd1 My own experiences with chocolate/cocoa have been so profoundly positive that I am inclined to see the power of the cacao bean as well. I also agree with John that it is absolutely a drug, and if one uses it within this context, it changes the outcome.
thanks for the info- just a thought- it might not be the "highest" but whos going to eat 100 grams of cilantro at one sitting- that would be gross- maybe they just mean by weight of what someone would actually eat?
I often eat 100 grams = 3.5 ounces (or more)of fresh cilantro.. Just talking about it makes me hungry.. I think I will go out to my garden and eat 3.5 ounces of fresh picked super mineralized cilantro now..
@carissahcg I'd loooooved to get cilantro in my body! Not only this is delicious but it has mineral that cleans the body out of a specific toxin which - per my research - can mostly get cleaned up by cilantro and chlorella. Thinking about it... I've to go buy some!
Can you please tell us how to get the fresh carob pods? I've seen your and Paul Nison's videos, but couldn't find the information on where to buy them. Thanks John!
i think its funny that people stick up for cacao, like its an animal with feelings.. its a stimulant !!!! thats why ur heart starts pounding like ur running
Great and informative video as always. What about Superfoods? I came a long way with raw food and never really used superfoods. People freak out if they don't have them, all I used were fruits and veggies to help my autoimmune disease as well as vitamin D3, and B12.
