Autotune is bonded to a key that you preset it to. It will help slot the transitions between the notes, giving it that robotic effect. If you're singing an F though, meaning to sing a C, it's not going to correct the pitch to sound like a C. I'm not saying that bad singers don't use Autotune, they do, I'm just saying that they're not the only people who use it, and it's not why the effect was created.
