  • We need more activists for science.

  • I would throw all my savings to just have a 1 hour conversation with the genius that it is Dr. Neil Tyson. I would take some good notes as well.

  • great, though this argument can probably be made with even more validity for feeding starving people around the word.

  • YEEEEYy,cocaine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • How short sighted can we be? Great video!

  • Not enough like buttons.

  • NASA is just like any government agency it is full of wasteful useless shit.I looked at Google earth and was shocked at the number of launch pads.

  • @no1saphead Oh, go back to Fox.

  • @no1saphead Yeah, man; Nasa never does anything worthwhile; it's all pointless bullshit, and how dare they have more than one launch pad! Just like all airports should have only 1 runway! Wasteful spending at its worst! [/sarcasmmode]

  • @SwordofKnowledge It is rather funny how I got criticized for this. If NASA wants to continue maybe they should consider how expensive some of their things are. A new launch pad is fine but it comes with a 4 million dollar per foot road. When I was a kid they shaved the Astronauts bald to save weight as cost saving measure. How much did it cost to transport Sally Ride's hair in orbit..

  • @no1saphead You do realize that they can't just take off/land at the same spot every time, right? Or, more specifically, they would have tons of wait times in between if they did? This is because the earth rotates. Also, did you ever consider the possibility that, as times have changed, so too has the tech? Or do you really think that no engine/propulsion advances have been made in the last couple of decades?

Also, the computer you're using? NASA helped get the tech in there. For Example:

  • @SwordofKnowledge

Hand-Held Vacuum, Air-Cushioned Sneakers, Firefighter Breathing Apparatus, Safer Airport Runways, Flexible Teflon-Coated Fiberglass, Solar-Power Tech, Polyamides (Used to protect bronze statues from corrosion), Equipment to cut people out of car crashes, Plane Wing-Tips, Freeze-Dried Meals, Baby Food, Hang Gliders, Nitinol (Used for wires in braces) (Cont.)

  • @SwordofKnowledge

Lasers (for Surgery), Life Support Systems, Artificial Limbs, Cheaper and more Durable Car Brakes, Self-Inflating Life Raft, Hydraulic Rescue Cutters, Sattelite TV, and Voice Controlled Wheelchairs.

But, yeah, obviously NASA isn't worth its budget. It's not like they produce anything worthwile. Not to mention the fact that NASA's percentage of the budget is only about 1%. Either your or willingly ignorant, or you're a troll.

  • @no1saphead Good; now open Google Earth again, and start looking for military facilities. Check out the air force and navy bone yards. Aren't you shocked at he number of those?

  • The NASA budget should be at least as great as the "Defense" budget.

  • Although many of us recognised the speaker's voice maybe you should give Neil Degrasse Tyson a mention in the description. The articulation of said gentleman is legend.

  • I've never given my computer a standing ovation before...

  • So moving, so true!

  • Tyson should be allowed to smack conservatives around physically. (1) vote

  • @cmsalvagio Probably wouldn't work, be like getting slapped with a wet noodle.

  • @cmsalvagio Thanks for your comment, you made me laugh

  • When I hear people like Dr. Tyson speak of these subjects my heart just pounds with excitement. I love it when these subjects come up in conversation and other people find the excitement also! Ugh, how frustrating to think that we're more worried about petty crap as a nation/world. I still have my money on logic and reason, our generation and future ones will make this happen!

  • I love Dr. Neil Tyson!

  • Personally I'd love some industry in space using all of those robots we seem to be developing rapidly. Pick apart some asteroids and make them into more robots. :3 Stealing from the people for this purpose, I'd probably approve of.

  • Moving and inspirational.

It seems very clear to me that to advance as a species - to continue to grow and prosper - we eventually have to expand past earth. That kind of process takes a lot of time. We can't just wait until earth has no more to give before we decide to invest in it.

I really hope the governments of the earth will realize this and re-prioritize. My dream is that within my lifetime at least - mankind will will no longer be a single-planet species.

  • isnt that tyson?

  • @mortemdei yes

  • I gotta tell you, this is the greatest video on youtube, hell the greatest video I have ever seen! The creator of this video should direct hollywood blockbusters... like The Rocketeer reboot. The maker of this video is probably a very sexy man. Genius, pure genius.

  • @pointmanzero

I see what you did there! ;)

  • @TheFoolscap don't blow my cover!

  • @pointmanzero lol...hmm, I don't know if he's THAT sexy, it is a great video though.

  • @chicarbiomed Sexy I say! SEEEEXEEEY!!!

  • @pointmanzero Meh it's up to debate.
