  • Love Sabbath, I have the same birthday as Ozzy, and every time I listen to this it reminds me of Petra (the Christian rock band) . To sing for Sabbath properly, you need to sound like you are being drug off to hell. That's just how it is bitches.

  • Former Member of Black Sabbath on this Album:

    Tony Iommi Guitar

    Neil Murray Bass

    Tony Martin Vocalist

    Cozy Powell Drummer

  • Incredible Tony Martin

  • Don't tell me I don't know sabbath. I have the official black sabbath comic book. I know this is Dio singing and I know this was the year that Tony left sabbath to join the band Kingdom Come which was great. Don't try and make me look stupid.

  • @backroadjunkie funny guy

  • @backroadjunkie

This is a bad attempt at a joke right?

  • @backroadjunkie Yup, this is Tony Martin. My brother had this CD and I listened to it backwards and forwards since I was little. nolordsnomasters has his facts correct.

  • @backroadjunkie I'm I think you might want to research that before you get bullied by people

  • This is the best Dio album by far. To bad Tony Iomi was not on this one.

  • @backroadjunkie Tony is on all the albums, he's the only constant Black Sabbath member (don't you know God is omnipresent? lol). And this is Tony Martin, relatively unknown at the time, singing. Dio left Sabbath in 1982 and wouldn't be back until 1992's Dehumanizer. He does sound like a throatier Dio though.

  • Reminds me of the early hoople snake stuff from 1971.

  • I just saw on Wikipedia that this album was certified Gold!

  • I prefer DIO, but Tony martin is epic too.

  • Tony Martin sounds like David Wayne from Metal Church at times. Great albumn, & song. Thanks for posting.

  • @wolfmanhawk Really? How? I don't see too much similarities.

  • R.I.P cozzy

  • good old properly played 80s metal - awesome vocal melodies and blazing solos from Tony, great stuff.

  • i cant believe i still know all the lyrics...i still have the cassette but no cassette player, lol.

  • Cozy Powell-R.I.P.-One of the greatest drummers in Metal..Period.

He played the hell out of his kit,Guys n Gals.

  • People really should just stop criticizing everything and just shut up !! i dont give a flying fuck where u are or what you think about religion or yourself ughhh

  • 14 people got cut half to the ground by a black flash of light.

  • 14 people didn't go to the Headless Cross

  • Criminally underrated Sabbath album, I still flog it like it's goin outta fashion in 2011.....<3 cd's

  • @Zendokai71

    Amen, brother!

I say that Iommi and Butler continue as they had with Dio with "Heaven and Hell"

Only this time, they get Tony Martin into the fold and tour and record as "Headless Cross"

  • EPIC

  • wow i had actually forgot about the noises at the start of the song havent heard the proper version since i was a kid cheers heavy... mad song great artists

  • 666 likes :D

  • All Sabbath albums are great, anyone who says they aren't really hasn't given them much chance.

  • This has got to be the best work from Sabbath since Ian Gillian.

  • It's not underrated. At least in Greece lots of people loves this album!

  • MOST UNDER-RATED SABBATH RECORD EVER.

  • @An7hraxHD Its about a village in England named "Headless Cross" that was plagued by a great illness. The people blamed it all on satan and accused each other of devil worship because they thought God was punishing them. Sadly, the whole village was wiped out.

  • tony martin please will you marry me

  • Tony did a bang up job on the studio albums..much respect..live..he was suspect..

  • my personal take on this album: love the cover, can't stand tm's voice, nice solos.

  • This song is the true masterpiece of Sabbath history. I just love it. Tony Martin is to be evaluated much higher!

  • The singer is good, but Ozzy and Dio are just better. I mean, with Ozzy they had a style that really fits with Ozzy's voice, and with Dio they changed their style to something that went better with his voice. This song is still in the same style as their songs with Ronnie, and he just sounds better in that style.

  • Masterpiece !!!

    Fukkin great !!!

Created by THE Heavy Metal Bänd !!!

    R.I.P. Dio !!!

  • !!

  • Am I the only person who keeps thinking that stone bottom left of the cross is a barn of some kind every time I think or look at the album cover?

  • martin's style is clearly inspired by dio's...i never liked the martin era of sabbath that much, but this album is a heck of an album no doubt bout...

  • Tony Martin <3

  • I have this full LP.

  • ima get lifetime in prison when they find out what i did to tha replay button O_O

  • In my opinion this is the last good Sabbath album I didn't really care for any of the 90s stuff (yes even Dehumanizer which people say is good)

  • I have this on 7inch.....hard to get. It's allegedly about a small village that was beset by the Black Death during Medieval times. Village was quarantined and all the people died- hence, "The Headless Cross"....

  • Comment removed

  • Someone told that this song was about cutting off the head of Christianity. But i think that is nonsense. The person who said this has been dead for about 20 years now. He was in his mid twenties when he died. He committed suicide. Pitty.

  • @BBINGHAM032352 it would be interesting if it was was about cutting the head of cristianity seeing as iommi is himself a christian

  • @borninkilladelphia I think the real meaning of this song is that it is about a village in which a fallen angel appears

  • @An7hraxHD is a story about a village that fall in disgrace, and then rise this headless cross founding so his salvation...i think

  • This intro give me a inspiration to god :)

  • Tonny Martin Rules!

  • Why isn't this album on Itunes??? It is so hard to find everywhere else and it's expensive when you do find it. Urgghh.. Btw, best Sabbath album was Dehumanizer

  • Obviously I prefer Dio to Ozzy. Ozzy was great and has a role in history but his voice was never that great. I had an opportunity to see him in '85 and he was damned near a caricature of himself even then. Only redeeming feature of that show was Metallica opened on the "Master of Puppets" tour and I got to see Cliff play.

  • This is actually pretty close to my favorite Sabbath album. The only album that might be better is Heaven and Hell. My preference changes based on my mood at the moment. Both albums are great.

  • Tony Martin sounds like a cross between Ronnie James Dio and Bruce Dickinson which is totally badass!

  • The opening has a vaguely HAWKWIND sound to it. Can't remember what song it was. Also sounds like a scene from the film HIGHLANDER.

  • 12 people who dislike this must be 12 disciples of some real dickhead.

It's Sunday, today, when others are in church, but I listen to Black Sabbath in my own church.

  • A very 80's sounding song but i can't help but like it. His vocals are awesome.

  • what Ricky Martin you say???????ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!it is so funny!!!!anyway, the vocalist is Tony Martin and he is one of the best vocalists!!!an incredible voice, illuminated talent!!!so perfect!!!!

  • 12 people are the sons of Satan.

  • I was told that all Sabbath's albums after Sabotage apart from Heaven and Hell suck. WTF? This is awesome!

  • @ejl1000 Don't listen! I'm not a fan of Technical Ecstasy or Never Say Die, though both have good songs, but Mob Rules, Born Again, Eternal Idol, Headless Cross, Tyr, Dehumanizer (best one ever!!!), and Cross Purposes are all excellent albums.

  • @DarkWolf5250 Theirs nothing wrong with Technical Ecstasy or Never Say Die I think you people just want to not like them.

  • @BLACKSABBATH0HM No... I happen to own Technical Ecstasy, and I have listened through Never Say Die several times. Technical Ecstasy has some catchy songs, but somehow it just doesn't catch my interest on the whole, and Never Say Die... Well, Johnny Blade is good...

  • @ejl1000 Don't forget about Mob Rules and Dehumanizer.

  • @ejl1000 Who told you this blasphemy? This album and Born Again are fucking awesome

  • @MichaelCrimson Yeah I fucking love Born Again!

  • @ejl1000 Eternal Idol is great, too!

  • @ejl1000 Listen to Dehumanizer, my favorite Sabbath album whos awesomeness was utterly forgotten by most people

  • please give me original version please

  • This is actually very kickass, I'm still an ozzy guy but I can respect this

  • @perltyr you forget Gillen and Hughes

  • Black Sabbath has NEVER sucked. It has merely had different stages. Ozzy, Dio, Ian Gillian, Tony Martin...they all brought different degrees of holy thunder.

  • @brnleague99

    Well said!

  • @brnleague99 And that Glen Hughes guy or whatever...

  • @DarkWolf5250 Good call. I forgot about him. I was thinking about Ian Gillian (RIP) and Born Again.

  • @brnleague99 dude... Ian Gillan aint dead

  • Great TUM TA TUM TA TUTUM TU TA....

  • Classic metal! Tony "Cat" Martin was "Ozzy Deluxe" to me.

  • Rather thank argue which singer is best people should realize that Black Sabbath is in fact a "dynasty" band. It has changed through the years. Personally, enjoy Dio best but if you're a true fan of Black Sabbath you need to understand that this band has evolved through the years and therefore each singer's contribution is just as important as Ozzy's. Treat Black Sabbath like an italian family dynasty ...... enjoy eating pasta & olives while Tony Iomi plays beside the dinner table. FAMILY !!

  • @Stealthkeys77 All of that is true, but it doesn't change the fact that I'd have given my left arm to hear Dio sing this song.

  • einfach hammer egal wer singt black sabbath rockt :)

  • Karaoke version please

  • 12 dislikes????f**king get real people!!!!!

  • Tony FUCKING Martin \m/ ...such an awesome vocalist!

  • Comment removed

  • @giaisbomb Theyre on hold but havent made a studio album since the 1995 forbidden.

  • @BLACKSABBATH0HM do have this album downloaded?

  • @BLACKSABBATH0HM Technically, they (as Heaven and Hell) did The Devil you Know, but that's essentially still Sabbath...

  • @DarkWolf5250 I didnt know heaven and Hell was Sabbath I thought it was just another Dio band.

  • @BLACKSABBATH0HM It's the same lineup as on Mob Rules; so Dio, Butler, Iommi, and Appice. They called it Heaven and Hell so that they could perform only stuff they did together live, rather than having to have them perform stuff from other lineups like what had happened before when Dio was in the band. They're the same thing, though... Pure awesomeness.

  • @DarkWolf5250 Oh ok well Ill check it out then lol.

  • @BLACKSABBATH0HM Yah, I'd recommend it...

  • @giaisbomb wtf??????

  • NOOOOO ESE SABBATH DESPUES DE OZZY, NADA....FUCK OFF..

  • RIP RONNIE JAMES DIO !

  • ian gillian from deep purplr also sang on one album

  • Tony martin is not bad at all

    epic song tho

tony iommi and geezer buttler \m/ fucking amazing bass and guitar

  • @wiggle219219 Geezer Butler isn't playing here... This is Laurence Cottle.

  • @DarkWolf5250 really? well great, then hes not bad at all as well ;)

  • @wiggle219219 Yup.

  • Every singer in Sabbath was great, Fuck anyone you doesn't agree.

  • @LORDGOAT1976 Well said. Every Sabbath era was awesome in its own way.

  • @LORDGOAT1976 ozzy wasn't a great singer and had crap stage presence, the music however more than makes up for it.

  • @LORDGOAT1976 I AGREE!!!

  • @LORDGOAT1976 I agree, but Martin made them sound like Christian rock giants Petra.

  • @LORDGOAT1976 ALMOST EVERY SINGER..

  • @LORDGOAT1976 ALMOST EVERY SINGER..

  • @LORDGOAT1976 Ozzy was the best. the others suck. bigtime

    lol u mad?

  • @KristianCramer EVERY singer was the best

@Defcon737 Why? He was just saying he show his respect. Everybody shows their respect in some ways, whether it's weird, or just normal (listening, going to shows, etc.)

  • @KristianCramer I'm sorry, but Ronnie James Dio ass rapes ozzy as far as anything metal goes.

I mean, look at the stuff Ozzy's putting out now.

What the hell are you going to say next, Chester Bennington has more vocal range than Rob Halford? Go to hell.

  • @MrThembones yeah u mad.. real mad

  • @KristianCramer u poseur.... real poseur.

  • @KristianCramer neither martin or dio sucked bro...especially dio...you're a retard???or plain deaf???

  • @NeonKnight33 Nope.. not really...

but u mad... why u mad bro? come at me!

  • @KristianCramer i ain't mad at all you impudent, ignorant fool, fyi i am a die hard ozzy fan, but your music judgment is thinly-veiled masturbation and you only show your music immaturity like that...if you don't have the brain capacity to understand and comprehend correctly the worth of the rest of sabbath's work, aside from the ozzy era, then you are as pathetic as you seem to be to everybody reading your comment...

  • @NeonKnight33 oh buhuhuuu i dont agree with you so i must be a retard.. herp derp.

    U so mad bro!

  • @KristianCramer i'm irritated because you see, i am a human and you are a human, but you are dumb, immature and a fool, so you give a bad name and you disgrace my species...and, fyi, that's really hard to repent for it...so,unless you change your dna or quit being a dumb living, you're gonna irritate me...

but being mad at you is completely impossible for me...

  • @NeonKnight33 I'm sorry, I happen to agree with you about Dio/Ozzy/Martin/whatever, but... "Thinly veiled masturbation" describing his music judgement? How exactly does that one work, eh?

  • @KristianCramer you want to tell that ozzy was better than dio ? ...

    yea right -.-

  • @LORDGOAT1976 of corse they all are its fucking sabbith

  • This song is simply amazing.

  • @keefriff99

When those opening drums and then that epic riff start, you know something special is coming your way!

  • lets kill justin bieber for always....

  • Lol every one was looking at me weird when I was singing, thought I was a Satan worshiper it was pretty funny

  • @carlo0717 you are a fucking IDIOT carlo ..never post anything about sabbath again .

  • @carlo0717 they r just FOOL ... this music is holy ... God damn satan

  • Black Sabbath forever in my heart

  • What posers discussing Satan while listening to Sabbath!

  • @NOGODnever specially since most of Sabbath's songs are about God, and the consequences of evil actions.

  • DOES BIAL MEAN ANYTING TO U FUCKING IDIOTS ?

  • @tismemac ,,,,,,,ANYTHING * FORGOT THE FUCKING H ..... DONT WANNA SOUND LIKE A HOODIE WANKSTAR KNOBBER ON A BMX

  • @HeavyIronMetalMaiden did you even read the After Forever lyrics or a part of Heaven and Hell that says "the devil is never a maker"

  • @pedrostarwars No I didn't and I don't care

  • @pedrostarwars Because. They just are. There is no way they aren't. Did you read the lyrics to N.I.B.?? Did you see their blasphemous album art for Sabbath Bloody Sabbath or Born Again?? Did you know they did an altar call for Satan in Canada??

  • @HeavyIronMetalMaiden so everybody who drinks one beer is an alcoholic, or every horror-movie director is a murderer or such. Black sabbath wrote songs about satan, but just because they thought he is cool. and ozzy hated it when those satanic fans came to him and asked him to play on their satanic masses ...

  • @Erdichan Have it your way. See what you want to see.

  • @HeavyIronMetalMaiden Have you listened to the song After Forever?

  • @HeavyIronMetalMaiden

Lucifer not Satan, learn the difference.

  • @DruggedUpFool Difference? What difference? Am I missing something? Last time I checked, Lucifer was the angel that got cast out of heaven, then he became satan, or whatever. Either name applies.

  • @HeavyIronMetalMaiden You are actually borth right. The name Lucifer is often used to refer to Satan. But as far as I know originally Lucifer and Satan are not the same.

  • @OLee82 Satan actually could use a disambiguation. You are actually right about that. But, Lucifer IS Satan, even while Satan can refer to different things.

  • he could successfully sing dios songs he has a great voice!!!!!!

  • I just fucking love this song (:

  • love the screaming

  • cozy powell is a drum god

  • I ♥ Tony Martin!!! Awesome & very strong voice!!!

  • Why are you ppl talking about Ozzy and Dio while Tony Martin sing every fucking awesome song on this album? In my opinion this was their best album, hail to Tony!

  • Why are you ppl talking about Ozzy and Dio while Tony Martins sings every fucking awesome song on this album?

  • The only problem with calling this Black Sabbath album is, Tony Iommi is the only member of Sabbath in this line up at the time. It is still a decent album though....

  • awesome voice, awesome song, catchy as hell !

  • after a long time...

    Lieutenant: Fuck you.

Fake Kirk: There is no need for that kind of vulgarity.

Lieutenant: Why there is no need for that kind of vulgarity?

    Fake Kirk: No.

  • FODASTICAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • no1 gives a monkey crap how old you people are, just shut up and listen to the song

  • all black sabbath is killer. all singers have been great. both, ozzy and ronny james have had great careers. r.i.p. ronny.

  • headless cross is one of black sabbath's best album right up there with heaven and hell, the mob rules, sabbath, bloody sabbath, etc.......

it's the best of the tony martin era albums.

  • Uuuh.. Tony and guitar riffs... :)

  • This shit is old- Iam 46 , this still fucking rocks.

  • Great song.

  • @celticwitan You need a lesson in metal if you can say that Dio was a poser... Just as well you could say that Rob Halford can't sing 'cause he's a faggot.

  • @celticwitan

    you are a blithering imbecile.

  • VERDADEIRO METAL .

    VOCAL CLASSICO.
