WOW!! This argument has been going on for a year? Its just a car, a nice one in fact, I own one. A GTO to some and to some its not, its nothing to get your panties in a bunch. I found many people who did not like it at first, like it now, once they saw the car up close and personal. Who gives a hoot who makes the car or not? It's a well-built rwd muscle car in a sedan package. I wanted to give props to Shiftscene, that was the best fimmaking I've seen in a long time. That's art, originality, refreshing to see amongst the mass of people on this site setting a camera on the ground behind their car and racing the engine for 45 seconds. As a 05 goat owner all i have to complain about is that the maintnance is fairly expensive for this car. My son owns those little heeles the shoes with the wheels in them...i was trying to get the wheel out but i couldn't...so i used my gto key...it snapped in 2, to get a new key i had to call the dealership and get one shipped...in totall i spent over $450 JUST FOR A KEY! But when that throttle opens up %100 i have absolutely no complaints. (P.S i bought the car with 0 miles from the dealer)

Seriously epluribusunom, I've had my 2005 GTO for over a year. I took the wing off and avoided any graphics that would make it a target for the cops. I take her out for a jog up to 135-140 mph every weekend and I've never seen the lights in my reaview mirror. Knock on wood. The styling is bland, but there is something to be said about remaining understated.

Lets take a closer look at the numbers, the fastest stock Import Fake GTO is 13 flat, fastest REAL GTO is 13.1

So in 42 years of advancement a real GTO is only .1 sec slower, & it's on 1963 14" Bias Ply Tires VS P235/40ZR18 on superior tires!

What part of this should you be proud about?

Again real GTOs have way more potential then any Import, PrOvE Me WrOnG! They even make Hemi Pontiac heads & when you get around 450hp & start chucking IRS half shafts stock 10bolt 8.5s yawn!

The Holden GTO is master of none in the 1/4 & rally, it's good at both but the IRS was a trade off, and yes from the factory off the boat it is plagued with IRS issues, as well it "wallows"!

And when you account for the the rubber drive shaft coupler it makes the Holden IRS even more weak, unless your going to argue that the rubber in the IRS makes it stronger then a GM 12bolt, or you just going to BS yourself some more?

The question was not locked into a time frame, yes real PMD engines with the same tec in an LS engine can do the same & with a better TQ rod stroke they would do better, & i'm sure an LS w carb & 14" polyglass tires would be a worse performer then any Real period Stock GTO!
