Fleur du Male by Jean Paul Gaultier Review

I've only just discovered this. when I first sprayed it I was blown back and started to think I'd accidentally bought women's perfume, but once it settled I found it absolutely mesmerizing. It's such a unique and classy scent. I can't place my finger on it, but there's also something nostalgic about it for me too.

Definitely my current favourite.

Patrick, I wonder if the people who believe this bottle to be too gay, would prefer to have the Classique bottle instead?. In other words, do they prefer to have a Barbie doll instead of a Ken one.......I am very manly, and love this fragrance, and love the bottle. I wonder when we will have no lunatic fringe around......Cheers.

Hi Patrick, have you tried the edt cologne version of the original fleur du male? and if so, what's your opinion about it?

@SonsOfBelhor I do not think the EDT made it to the US. If it did I never saw it.

@SonsOfBelhor The EDC is a little different. Much lighter and less Orange Blossom in the opening and throughout the drydown. Smells a little more green. Also lasts about half as long. A little boring to me. The EDT is great!

@SonsOfBelhor I would wear the EDC and EDT in the summer. Im wearing it today, 3 sprays (one on each arm and one on my neck) and it's warm where I work, and it's been fine. Quite enjoyable, especially the drydown!

Great fragrance! I LOVE the smell of orange blossom so this was a definite winner. I know some guys feel put off by the bottle but I really like it! Then again I'm more of an artistic type than the typified male

This fragrance is nothing like Kenzo Power. This is a pretty bold fragrance and Power is a bit more subtle. This is also not a fragrance to buy blind.

Patrick, have you seen/tried "Blue for Men"? It kind of caught me by surprise, since the bottle looked exactly like Jean Paul Gaultier's Le Male.

I did some research, and it seems like Jean Paul never made Blue for Men, so I'm thinking it's either a rip-off or fake.. Just wondering if you had any ideas on it ^^

(Thought it smelt horrible btw lol, not like Le Male)

I have never seen a Blue for Men. Now the after shave for Gaultier comes in a blue body bottle. Wonder if that is what you have.

Blue for men is not an authentic product from Jean Paul Gaultier. Is it definitely a knock-off so be careful. I did a lot of research on it and it turned out to be a fake.

I have this one, but never use it... Just make it as a part of my perfume collection. It smells very unique, very different compare to the other male perfume. I think, it's suitable to use this when you go for clubbing ^_^

It is a unique scent so make sure you try it before you invest in it. Give it some time. It may take a couple of hours to mellow and see what it does on you.

I would just do one spray to the back of your neck, NOT on your throat. That would be more than enough for hot days in the summer.

This fragrance is pretty potent and you might not want it under your nose all day. It is also not a good idea to spray fragrance in any area that you shave. The oils could clog your pores and cause ingrown hairs as it tries to grow back out.

I love how you note the staying power for every perfume/cologn you review. Would you say the same for Jean Paul Gaultier womens fragrance staying power. I have trouble finding good quality ones that stay on for a long time without reapplying every two hours.

If you get the Eau De Par-fume in JPG it will stay on quite well. The EDT doesn't last quite as long though. Angel stays on really well and also try Tom Fords Black Orchid.

It is the lightest and has the least amount of fragrance oil in it.

I love the comments about the shower, just brilliant.

I sampled this one several times before I decided that it's just awesome. The opening fecal note with soap is a little challenging but the dry down is well worth the wait.

It'll be interesting to see what Gaultier comes up with next as he's done two brilliant fragrances for men so far.

This fragrance had me fooled! I HATE Le Male, always have! And everybody wears it! SO generic! Anyway, I was after something new and the saleswoman talked me into trying this! The top notes were nice - unusual, potent enough - and I still liked it after half an hour so I bought a bottle! OOPS! Should have waited just another half an hour! Because after that it smells...EXACTLY like Le Male! The one time I wore it somebody commented, 'Oh, you're wearing Le Male!' I gave it away the day after!

it is a trick that they used the same torso shaped bottle as Le Male. this is so synthetic and nauseating, nothing like Le Male, not a brother of it for sure. i do not consider the 10+ hours lasting power as an advantage because it is a 10+ hours of torture with sickening rotten chamomile. not recommended to any age and for any occasion

I bought some Fleur Du Male for a friend's wedding earlier this year. I never liked Le Male very much, it's so generic - I find it in almost every gay guy's bathroom cabinet, sooooo boring! I should have let Fleur du Male dry down for a lot longer, after a couple of hours I still liked it. However, shortly after, it smelt EXACTLY like Le Male! At the wedding somebody said to me, 'You wear Le Male, then?' and I wanted to scream, 'NO, NO,I HATE IT!' Fleur does NOTHING for me! Urgh!
