There is one simple solution to this problem. Have the terrorists put on uniforms and fight out on the battlefield and not in towns and cities and stop hiding behind civilians, women and children, then there will be no more civilian casualties.

Whether or not Al Qaeda and Iraq had actual ties isn't the reason for the regime change in Iraq.
Iraq was an aggressor nation who wanted payback for the first Gulf War and was believed to have WMDs and had the potential to provide those weapons to terrorist groups be it Al Qaeda or whomever. This was a threat we could not overlook or wait to see what happens next after 911.
Sadam had to be dealt with. Just because we couldn't find WMDs doesn't mean he didn't have them.

geneva convention states any civilian who gives aid to the enemy is no longer considered a non-combatant. the civilians in fallujah were given ample warning that the US was coming in to start major combat ops. 99% of the "civilians" in fallujah were there for a reason and it wasnt to help the americans. these people acted as willing human sheilds for the insurgents, gave food and supplies to the insurgents, gave away american positions to the insurgents and at times became active combatants.

War sucks, but if you are going to fight, fight to win. War "rules" only apply if the winning side is compassionate. If this planet were dominated by socialist / communist there would be no "rules of war", because they could do anything they wanted for "the betterment of the people as a whole".
