  • I think their music choice really did them in. I think a more masterful piece like the Planets or Shahara Zad, or even something like Malaguena would have gotten them the gold here. They lost on technical merit though.

  • stop with the negative comments about jayne and chris, if you dont like them dont comment on this fuckin video or any other of their videos. stop acting like idiots!! did anybody else get as many 6.0's as they got in 1984. i dont think so.. Torvill and Dean best ice dancers in the world. END OF !

  • who's their choreographer? seems s/he retired with Torvill & Dean. there's always many whoaw factors in their dance, very above and beyond. top of the world!

  • I was watching the whole come back from the british chapionship same year up and until this. We watched with a little anxiety , hoping it would be flawless and when it was we were like "they've done it they've nailed it !" how they were robbed. After this the judging procedure was changed.

  • Ugly and charmless, and recycled every truly great move from past performances. Awkward and kludged, and Jayne looks chunky and out of condition.

I *love* T&D, and still weep for this awful, embarrassing performance.

  • @MyLatestEscape you need some new glasses

  • @Spooner101a

Er me and who else? The whole world? They only got a bronze, ya know?

They did much, *much* better sufff with with their professional stuff and DOI, before and after this mess. Look at 'Song of India', and tell me that this performance wasn't a mess.

  • I think all the still alive judges has a flush on their face watching this after 27 years, because only the British judge gave them 1st place.

Time told them they did a shameful backtstage job. I'm happy they couldn't do that in 2010 again with the new judging rules....

Grischuk-Platov was a talented youngsters here witha very juniorish propgram and technique compaired to the Britons and Usova-Zhulin!

  • @BigdealXXIII Usova and Zhulin had a terrible program this year though. Their problems with their wrecked marriage clearly showed which was a shame.

  • @2010watchmenow TORVILL AND DEAN ARE WORLD, EUROPEAN AND OLYMPIC CHAMPIONS NOT ONLY IN AMETEUR BUT PROFFESSIONAL WORLDS AS WELL, They still managed to become European and World Champions with this routine. Oksana and Evgeny fell in their performance but still won, where are they now, TORVILL AND DEAN PERFORM AND CHOREGRAPH CELEBS ON BRITISH SHOW DANCING ON ICE WHICH NOW HAS Katerina Witt as one of the Judges alongside Robin Cousins and can outperform Oand K any day.

  • @2010watchmenow NOT!!!

  • Quality went unrewarded. Boo too the judges!

  • @2010watchmenow actualy there is only one where Chris does the splits. The flip at the end was an assisted jump - which was within the rules at the time.

  • I thought this routine was conservative but brilliantly choreographed. I think G&P's power and speed really won them the gold, but their routine was just as conservative, although nowhere as well choreographed. If T&D did something like Bolero or Encounter, something that will blow people's minds away, they would have won the gold again. They couldn't surpass the barometer of high expectation that they ironically set in 1984.

  • anyone?? ever heard of been there done that, ridiculous

  • 2010, you need to get a life & stop comparing the greatest ice dancer of all time T&D to those silly fools you keep rambling on about. lol

  • проиграли в сложности, их время было в 1984

  • torvill and dean were robbed !!

  • RUBBISH< RUBBISH RUBBISH :(

  • @2010watchmenow torvill and dean are the best dont u dare say anything bad about them they are the champions of ice dancing if all u can say is bad things dont open that big ugly loud mouth of yours nothing was wrong with there routines i would love to see you try and do a routine has good as that in everyones eyes they shuld av won the gold and in my eyes they did win the gold so fuk u ...............!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @2010watchmenow where were grishuk and platov's 6.0s? ah yes - they didn't get any.

  • Oksana Grishuk and Evgeny Platov are the BEST ice dancers on the planet!

This team ROBBED Oksana and Evgeny at the 1994 Europeans. T&D must return those gold medals to the true champions Oksana and Evgeny. :(

  • Oksana Grishuk and Evgeny Platov are true champions!!!

This team is ok but right behind Oksana and Evgeny.

  • This team perfomance is absolute RUBBISH!!! RUBBISH RUBBISH RUBBISH!!!

Skating quality is awful for Olympic level.

SHAME on judges to even give them any place higher than 15th...

Look at their TWO feet skating 2:05 even 3 years old kids can do that.

  • @2010watchmenow - you are talking absolute rubbish here. They are the best Ice Dancers ever. To come back after a 10 year gap and still perform to this level was outstanding. Whether you posted that ridiculous comment for a reaction or not I don't know but you clearly don't know your stuff. OK, this was not a masterpiece in the way Barnum or Bolero were but it was fresh and lively with a mixture of all the ballroom dances. Thats what the ISU wanted that year and they delivered,

  • Awful performance for bronze medalists... FLAT egdes, EASY steps, VERY stiff, so many IILIGAL moves. Hey u guys you think you can get away with this umberrissing perfomance and get on the podium??? SHAME ON YOU!!! your place should have been 15th on this Olympics...

  • @2010watchmenow just fukk of if you have ntin bettter to do than critisise the best ice dancers ever and try and compare them to two twats i dont no what to say ..... why am i even talkin to you ur probably just a tramp anyway !!1

  • This dance seems more like an exhibition than a competitive program!

  • It was a much bigger scandal than in 2002. Shame on this sport, when the clear quality cannot get its reward...

  • They were robbed! Who cares though - where are all the other people that skated against them during all these competitions?? Do they all have hugely successful TV shows and tours traveling their country every year and can still count their partner as their best friend 37 years after partnering up? Don't think so!!

  • the only reason the uk lost and never won gold was because the judges never deducted points from the other couples that competed for ilegal moves !!!!!!! why did they get away with it when we didnt ????? ay ??? like i said belarussia seen it !!!! why didnt the others?????? and that is the true fact !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ Capt777harris. What I said is not bull. They did NOT win the European Champs, so you are wrong in that "won them gold in the competitions leading up to the Olympics, AND by the SAME judges."

I am not saying this isn't a wonderful, brilliant routine -- it is. But it was too slow and not enough difficulty for 1994. They used a lot of parts from their Barnum and Mack and Mabel routines from the 80s. No doubt they are the most creative, but this is a SPORT, not a show.

  • can you believe it belarussia was on our side - they marked the uk up and the russians down !!! - now that says it all !!!!

  • This was a fun, exciting routine. However, if you know anything about Ice Dance, then you would know that this is a recycled routine from 1983!!! But they were much slower in 1994.

You can't win the 94 olympic gold with an 83 world's routine. By the 90s, Ice dance was all about speed.

A lot of their moves were crowd pleasing but not difficult or fast. For example, from 2:25 to 2:55, it was fun to watch, but not difficult.

  • @russiafan That's not why they weren't awarded the gold. The routine won them gold in the competitions leading up to the Olympics, AND by the SAME judges. And the routine CHANGED and evolved.

  • @russiafan Complete bullshit. It's posted here on Youtube, just search for it.

  • Wow, other than the incredible performance, the one thing I'll never forget about this moment is the crowd reaction to the judges' scores.

  • Why didn't they win the gold? Shame- shame shame!

  • Their choreography is still unsurpassed. They're so good at telling a story and doing clever moves that go perfectly with the music. Why aren't they choreographing for current competitors?

  • Magic.

  • How could they not have won Gold? Is somebody blind or something? That was just WRONG!!! I have never seen any ice dancers do what they can do on ice, EVER.

  • Fabulous! Just what ICE DANCE should be!

  • Is that the illegal lift at 1:21?

  • No, I think it's at 4:22, the over-the-head flip.

  • @phongbong no it was an assisted jump which were pwerfectly allowed

  • my god the crowd give it what for !!! they knew they were robbed !!!

  • Robbed..never mind..they go down as the greatest ice dancers by miles anyway
