I heard of a woman that was drowned in a holding pen by a playful orca, I've seen it in smaller dolphins, as well as aggression (Every one gets pissed off)

revenge! baby abortions suicide and dad avenges his family! eat the hunter Mr Orca (impossible since even this very large member of the dolphin family is a fish/ seal feeder. Hell, I've seen them take on SHARKS! I highly doubt that orcas would eat people! sure we get into their zone, pollute their water, some are taken from their pod and 'trained' at aquariums to perform.

I must say this is the only movie that really makes me cry. This song and the film touch your heart. One I will never forget and pass to my children so this classic will never die.

@spivd I enjoy the film a lot myself. I do not know why some people rag on it like it was a bad film. It had a purpose and a message. I own the DVD, and I watch the film occasionally. I hope people see the message and understand to let things be and have respect for life.

This has nothing to do with Jaws. Those were the days when Jacques Cousteau made us discover the high seas, and everyone fantasised about it then. I was 5 when this came out and I love the film to bits; I don't care if it's not fashionable to do so. And to this day I can't listen to this track without bawling my eyes out instantly.

Probably the most important film in my life and one of the most beautiful ever! I love the fact that there is no evil characters but only victims from situations. Nolan is touching, the killer whale is heart breaking, the music incredible and the end... Thank you for sharing this!

I remember seeing this movie at the Dollar theatre as a kid and I thought it was not too good. 30+ yrs later I couldn't tell you if its a good movie or a Jaws rip off. Seems like at the time I thought of it as a Jaws rip off but I'm not even sure if the timing backs that up on not. I also remember what in my mind was Bergess Merideth, rockys trainer in the film but that could be wrong all these years later too.

I agree 100%. And the movie had touching scenes (like in the beginning, when the male pushes the femal orca to shore to die) that, when combined with Ennio's score, is enough to bring chills to your skin and tears to your eyes.

What I loved about it was that Harris' character, though responsible for the female's death, was still portrayed as a sympathetic and tragic figure. This music can apply to him as well.

Thanks! In the eco-horror genre, it is often easy to portray those who act against nature as purely evil characters who say "Hahahah, I killed Bambi's mother, neh!" Orca did not fall for that trap. That's why I think it is an overlooked classic of the genre.

That's because the typical "eco-horror" flick always has a leftist political message to it. To quote you: "Orca didn't fall for that trap." Rather, Orca stays true to the tragedy theme. If it were made today, the producers would have us believing that man usurped the Orca's place in the world and that the scales would be better balanced if we either all just submitted to the Orca's natural authority or, better yet, that we all just commit a collective suicide and leave the planet to the whales.

Eh... Carol Connors wrote a lyric to this, one of the many, many beautiful melodies conceived by the great Italian master Ennio Morricone, and the song was called "We Are One".

The vocal performance on here is by Edda Dell'Orso, Ennio's favourite soprano
